• I love the location - walking distance to theater, concert hall.
• Noisy.

“We saw two balloons taped to the outside of the room next door. I was a little concerned about a party going on. Sure enough, noise all night. I didn't want to wake my husband and he didn't want to wake me by calling to complain to the front desk.”

• All of the staff was exceptionally friendly to my young daughter and made her feel welcome!
• The room was a tad cramped.

“All of the staff was very friendly and accommodating (I was with my 5 year old daughter). The pool was sparkling clean, and the view from our corner room on the 20th floor was exceptional (two walls of windows). The room had two double beds as well as a business center desk and TV/dresser, so it was cramped, a bit, and during the night I had to be careful not to hurt my knees on furniture as I moved about the room in the dark. There were lots of nice little perks like good coffee in the rooms, internet access (for a fee), and an array of toiletries. The downtown location is superb - only one block from the MAX stop. I was impressed!”

• They were more than happy to help all of us with anything we needed.
• The pool was indoors and there was no way to even get some air in the pool area. It is kind of gross when you can see the sun but not feel it at all.

“We had a great big room with tons of room for me and my 3 girlfriends stuff. There was not a ironing board but once we requested on it was there in a heart beat. The room service prices were way too high but there are tons of good restaurants all over the place.”

• Right in the heart of downtown.
• Bedroom was a bit small.

“Beautiful hotel. Friendly staff. We ordered room service and after it taking an hour, I called and they had it up to us within minutes and complimented it! Parking is a bit expensive but you are within walking distance of everything.”

• Very nice hotel, friendly and roomy.
• The fact that it didn't have any kind of continental breakfast, had to pay for parking in over parked, too much chlorine in pool.

“This was a very roomy and nice looking hotel, but for the price you wouldn't expect to pay for local calls, parking in their over parked garage, and you would think there would be some kind of continental breakfast, even if nothing more than a bagel and OJ.”

“It was difficult to move around in the room with the television cabinet open-you had to crawl over the bed to get to the bathroom. The Marriott on the Riverfront is a much better hotel, and costs less.”

“Beds were not heavenly. Concierge were snooty and did not want to hold doors for my and my 2 year old. No one offered to help at any time, with luggage, etc. Very poor customer service. Put me and my asthmatic toddler on a smoking floor next to ice machine. I felt this hotel should have treated me and especially my kid nicer. I did not ask for much, just a door to be opened!”

• Concierge attendants were the rudest I have ever experienced.

“Concierge attendants were the rudest I have ever experienced. When we asked them for a moderately priced restaurant for dinner that was child-friendly he literally put his nose up in the air, curtly offered one restaurant and then turned to the next person in line. Outrageous and definitely not in the hotel promise of being hospitable. Other than that, the hotel was nice, clean and had a great central location.”

“I am originally from Portland and very familiar with the hotel so I was very disappointed with the fact that we had to park across the street and pay almost $20 for one night. The rooms were nice, but I had to listen to the air conditioner make clicking noises all night long and did not get much sleep. It was a hot day so I did not have the choice to turn it off. Lastly, I should not have to deal with almost no water pressure in the shower at a hotel that is supposed to be this caliber. I was not impressed at all.”

• Very clean and pain free check in/check out process.
• The location and confusing building where there are two sides and two check in areas. You don't know which one to go to beforehand.

“Very clean. The hotel lobby was just okay, although I personally don't care how nice the lobby is or how well it is decorated. The only thing was there were two towers, and I had no idea which one to go to for check in. And the location is a little further than most of there comparable hotels. But it is not that far from the Downtown action. I still think it was a great hotel.”

• The in/out parking privilege was great, but in downtown Portland that is not bad, but should be lower for hotel guests.
• The fact that we did not get 1 king or 1 queen bed, we got shifted with 2 double beds, and that is not very romantic, kind of small to fit 2 people.

“The sheets were so soft and clean, the bathroom was tidy and the shower head was easy to use unlike some places where you have to stare at the faucet before you find out how it works. The staff was very helpful and kind. Great Place will recommend it to family and friends!”

“This hotel was great to stay in. It was clean and comfortable so you could lounge in the room and relax. There are many amenities to choose from (gym and swimming pool) in case you want to stay in the hotel. The staff is very friendly and useful. The room is a bit smaller than you expect but the beds are extremely comfortable.”

“This was my second time staying this particular hotel. I loved my stay both times. My only issues were the occasional elevator noise and I was overcharged for valet parking, which was resolved easily.”

• I liked that it was close to both downtown and to the University of Portland, where my daughter is attending school. Also close to shopping and eating.
• I did not like how I was not able to use the weight room without a charge.

“The hotel itself was great! Comfortable rooms, great location, with a very nice atmosphere. It was very upscale, which I like. I think that a guests should not have to pay to use the exercise facility. This should be included, like the pool.”

• After I checked out, I was able to check my bag in lobby and use hotel lobby as a base for the day.
• Room was a bit small ( but nice) and did not have a fridge.

• Best location for downtown Portland. Leave your car and walk everywhere.
• Lack of parking spaces in garage. If you drove a big car, valet parking is recommended.

“Great location for downtown Portland. Walking distance to all shopping and restaurants. Took the last spot that you practically had to wedge yourself in. Not very good.”

“Needs to be updated technology, paint, hallways, furniture, etc, especially given it is right in the heart of downtown. Also the gym is not very good. No free weights and faulty machines were there.”

• I had a wonderful bed, smooth silky sheets, firm but not too firm, lots of pillows and staff was very accommodating providing two beds.
• This room was very small for two people and two beds, it would have been better suited for a single traveler.

“The hotel is easy to find, underground parking easily accessible, right in the heart of the downtown, within walking to a variety of stores and events. Staff was generally very gracious. They did put me in non-smoking and got a room with two beds which I requested.”

• Generic feel-didn't feel like I was in Portland.

“For the price I was definitely satisfied. The rooms and service were nice (super comfy beds), not much personality to the hotel. Not a bad thing but if you are going to get a taste of the city. Charged for internet which is spendy after a few days and parking also expensive so it can add up to a lot more than other places. Felt like I was treated differently. Staff was very professional and for business travel this is great.”

• This hotel is conveniently located and the staff was helpful.
• The staff did not know about bicycle rental and the bicycle parking is poor. I had to pay for things that would be free at a lower-star hotel.

• They charged a pet fee of $25.

“Next, the place did not come with a fridge, so they had to bring up this beat up fridge that should have been in a hostel! Next, as I was checking out, had to park 5 blocks from place, proceeded to valet parking for 15 min loading and unloading. The valet greeted me and when he found out I was checking out he told me to move my vehicle in the front, which was a hassle to park there because of traffic and the angle of space.”

“The room they gave us just had its carpet cleaned. I got into the room and took off my shoes and stepped on a wet floor. I called down at the desk and the clerk was so apologetic. I didn't get upset, since things happen. I told her no problem. I went down and got the key to a new room. It was a great corner location and on top of that she was kind enough to give us a complimentary breakfast the next morning. Very professional!”

• It was beautiful place, staff was wonderful.
• No free internet in room, no microwave, no fridge.

“Well it was a beautiful place very nice. The staff was off the hook helpful and friendly. However in a place of this caliber one would expect to have free internet service since in less fancy places you do. One would expect may be a microwave and fridge these are almost main stays of the places I tend to stay so with parking at 25 bucks a day and 10 bucks a day for internet and the fact that if you need extra towels or in our case a toilet unplugged it takes up wards of 3-4 phone calls and way over 30 minutes. This at any star level is not acceptable.”

• The room had very comfortable armchairs and an excellent bed. It was also very quiet.
• I was put into a smoking room! It smelled horrible and this is not in any way what I wanted.

“The hotel was fine, but the one thing I really didn't like was the fact that I had to stay in a smoking room, which stunk.”
