• Very friendly service, conveniently located downtown, rooms have character and charm.

“Great hotel, very friendly service, nice location downtown. Room had character and charm not found in newer hotels, although the room had a Queen bed and is smaller than newer hotels. Highly recommend!”

• Disappointed: Internet not working, Starbucks on premise not wireless, elevators took forever, construction early a.m.

• beautiful building, friendly service, nicely renovated room
• still under construction/renovation in many common areas, which was unsightly and difficult to get around

“It's housed in a beautiful historical building on the edge of downtown. The location is less convenient than some other downtown Portland hotels I've stayed in. The hotel appears to be undergoing an extensive renovation in an effort to upgrade itself significantly, and I think it will be a lovely place to stay once all the renovations are complete.”

• Beautiful hotel, with good location, service and bar/restaurant.
• The floor we stayed on was being painted.

“The Governor has classic elegance and excellent service. They are at the end of a large scale renovation. Jake's Bar and Grill, located in the Governor Hotel, is a well known steak and seafood restaurant in Portland. The bar is always happening and has a good menu and stiff drinks.”

• Classic decor and very friendly, helpful staff.
• Window view was a brick wall.

• Location was great in downtown Portland. Great restaurant on premise.
• Remodeling not completed. Had to walk past construction work.

“Newly remodeled vintage hotel in downtown Portland, Oregon, near major sites and public transportation has upscale restaurant and Starbucks on premises. Comfortable beds and friendly staff.”

“Delighted with my stay at the Governor. Classic elegance, superior service (quick to respond to room requests), close to shopping in the N.W. or downtown, 3 blocks from Powell's bookstore (for the literary crowd).”

“Beautiful art deco hotel. Great restored bar attached to hotel. We had a room on the sixth floor with a roof patio with wonderful views of the city, full moon, etc. Lots of restoration, had private tour of building. Trolley is at the front door to hotel. Staff very helpful.”
