  • The clerk and the counter was friendly and helpful.

“Decent, but noisy on freeway access ramp, rooms were okay but dated decor and smelled like smoke covered by room freshener. Security was not adequate given the circumstances. Restaurant was great, good service and food, and desk staff was very good.”

  • The front desk staff.
  • Remnants of former guests on the floor and bed of my room.

“Although it is a Red Lion, it is not close in quality to the other chain hotels I have visited. In particular, my room had such a heavy deodorant smell that I had to leave the sliding window open for 2 hours. The housekeeping department missed the wire hanger stuck on the easy chair foot and the already filled out menu from a different guest on my bed.”

“Filthy, dingy room, with a busted door lock, dirty pool and food crumbs from the last guest. Stains on the carpet and chairs, room overlooked the freeway. Pool was out of the question. Room smelled weird. Like a combo of smoke, air freshener and mildew.”

“This is a terrible hotel in desperate need of refurbishment. The lifeless, disinterested desk crew goes through the motions with no enthusiasm. Ours was a crummy, tiny, dated, ground floor room with a dirt pile for a view literally.”

  • Easy access to downtown.
  • The rooms were dark and ugly - it felt like a cheap motel with bad sheets.

“For a quick stay this is not a bad option if you don't care about quality. If you like an attractive room with nice sheets and towels this is not the place. It was listed as a 3 star and at most I would give it two stars. The drunken karaoke in the lobby when I checked in should have been an omen of what was to come.”

  • Rooms were nice/clean. Shuttle service delivered.
  • Got wet moving from room to front desk - no way to stay dry in rain.

“It is an average hotel found in a business section of Eugene, not too far from campus. I stayed because of their shuttle to the airport - worked great. For a clean, average hotel, this is a keeper.”

  • I found a bug on my pillow case when I got ready for bed. You hear every little thing.

“Good location close to lots of good shopping and food. But 4 out of the 5 times I have stayed here I had problems with noise of people coming and going and being loud outside the rooms.”

  • Location was decent.
  • Not a 3 star hotel, more of a 1 or 2 star motor lodge.

“This hotel gets a bad rap but it is not completely justified. For a 3 star hotel it is a failure. It is a motel/motor lodge not an upscale hotel.
It is a pretty nice motel and motor lodge and for a 2 star location I would rank it higher. In the end it was clean and the location was good.”

“Rooms are very nice, all non-smoking. The outside appearance of the hotel can be misleading. The exterior must be next on the list for updating. The guest rooms are all very new, clean, and comfortable. I would stay here again.

  • Rooms were new and nice furniture.
  • Look like still in process of remodeling rooms. Hotel was difficult to find. I would of preferred to stay at Hampton.

  • Pool and spa were nice.
  • Room was dirty upon arrival. Never been cleaned from previous guest.

“I have stayed at this hotel before and was happy. This visit however was less than satisfactory. The first room that we were given had not been cleaned at all. It took 20 min for someone to come "look" he didnt really apologize for the room being dirty. . Not at all what you'd expect from a 3star hotel. The pool and spa were nice except for the nasty smell of fish that lingered near the pool area. Very bad smell.”

“3 Stars is an over statement of this red lion hotel, I would not rate this place that high, Staff was good for the brief stay that I had. I would not stay at this hotel again for the money. I Have had better rooms at a best western. My room was next to the pool that was to close at 10 pm however people were drinking a having a party at the pool until 1 am.”

  • Old air-conditioning did not keep room cool enough.

“The hotel is in a convenient location, but motor style, (doors open to parking), does not feel as safe. The rooms have recently been redone, very attractive and clean, but the air conditioning system is old and outdated and did not property cool the room, so I didn't sleep well. The staff was friendly, but desk people failed to "go the extra" step. I wouldn't want to stay here again in warm weather unless they update the air conditioning.”

The exterior staircases and room entries make it seem more like a motel from the 70's. I wonder if Red Lion has some kind of problem, several of their places are looking a little worn.”

  • Check-in staff (from Springfield, OR) was professional and friendly.
  • Smelled like dog diarrhea, outside entrances, felt unsafe.

“This location in no way deserves to be a 3-star hotel. Outside entrances with doors marred by pry-bars did not leave me feeling safe. While the room was beautifully decorated, it could not make up for the dog diarrhea smell. The AC had difficulty keeping the room cook on a 70-degree night, and was very loud. The outside was in disrepair, though the lobby was nice. The business center is nothing more than a machine and printer on a desk in the corner of the lobby. They do have a nice outdoor pool, big spa, decent exercise room. Poolside rooms looked larger. $10 extra for a second bed. How in the world could this be in the same category as Hilton? Not recommended.”

  • It was creepy, depressing and I felt unsafe.

“I would like to say that I was surprised by the conditions of the Red Lion Inn. This is a cheap, motor lodge not a three start hotel. My room was by the dumpsters, there were teenagers sniffing glue in the parking lot, the front of the window AC literally fell off when I tried to adjust the temperature, the sheets were itchy, the internet was broken and the walls paper-thin, so I could hear everything from the massive quantities of traffic on the highway to the stoned teens in the parking lot. I understand cheap motels exist and I have stayed in some in my life. This case is different. I asked for a three-star hotel. I realize it was my choice to check out after one night, but I simply felt the hotel was undoable (esp. given how unsafe I felt as a single female staying alone in this poorly secured, deserted place). I'm quite thrifty, have never checked out of a hotel before, but the situation was frankly extreme.”

  • Smell of room, not a 3 star! Broken door jam. Didn't feel safe.

“This hotel is way below what you would expect for a 3 star Red Lion. The door jam was broken so the flip lock didn't work. The room smelled old. There were outside corridors. This should have been 1 or 2 stars. And when I asked for two doubles instead of one king the charged me $20 to upgrade. You can't upgrade in this slimy hotel. I am very disappointed in both Red Lion (a name I used to trust).”

  • The hotel is very convenient for travelers wishing to visit the University of Oregon.
  • The hotel did not have elevators to ease luggage transport.

“The hotel appears to be a gutting and remodel of an old style motel. All rooms were accessed by doors on an open walkway next to the parking area. The interiors had been remodeled with new bath tile, carpet, furniture, and linens. Unfortunately, the exterior could use a facelift.”

  • You can get on the freeway very easy and you can go just about anywhere from the hotel without a very long drive 15 min at most.
  • May be the pillows, too flat.

“We where in Oregon for business and at anytime I needed to go anywhere it was easy, right on the freeway. The staff was great helped us in anyway they could. They are very friendly.”

  • Room service was terrible!

“This hotel met basic expectations reasonably well. Rooms were quite clean, facilities well kept, and both the bathroom and the bed were comfortable. That said, I was disappointed in the service. There is no breakfast bar, which means breakfast is either on your own, room service or the hotel restaurant. I spent $20 on a mediocre breakfast through room service. The coffee was so bad I could not drink it, and it came in a disposable cup.”

  • Bed was comfortable. Room was lovely.
  • It was a motel style hotel. The furniture was too big for the room.

  • Courtyard room & pool.
  • 2 outlets sparked at 6:30 am, flashed & smoked! No response to note sent to manager.

“Frightening experience with outlet sparking & smoking. Made worse because no response from manager. Surcharge for 2 beds rather than 1 ($20): called an upgrade but no other hotel has done this, even other Red Lions. Noisy generator next door. Bedspread had dog hairs, dirt & dog odor.”

  • Too far away from where my relative lives.

“Staff was nice, room was ok, pool was nice. Room opened onto a back patio/walkway that led to the pool. Guests were shielded from street noise by the hotel's design and placement.”
