“Fabulous location on the river. Views are fantastic. Excellent walking paths, next door to shopping center. Good restaurant food is decent, (again views from the restaurant: amazing - peaceful and calming). The only downside is that the hotel is very dated. Rooms, decorations, everything straight from the early 70s. Also, fitness area needs help - just 5 aerobics machine in a very tiny room with a TV.”

• Staff was fantastic, having bar and restaurant on site very good, and the shuttle.
• Rooms little dated could use upgrade, but were clean.

“We've always loved Valley river, our room had not been remodeled and needed upgrading, however our daughter's room had been and it was nice. They need flat screen TV's. Free internet access and parking a plus. Plenty of restaurants and shopping (Valley river mall) very close, easy to get downtown and to UO. They shuttled us to and from concert at Mac court which was great, since parking there is not good.”

• Had a room right on the Willamette river.
• Room was very outdated and door didn't shut well.

“This hotel's main attraction is the rooms on the Willamette river. Otherwise, the hotel is outdated, smells funny, and isn't especially convenient to much. However, it has a nice bike/running trail that goes around about 15-20 miles around the river and is great to bike on a good day. You can rent a bike at the hotel, but they aren't in the best condition. They are $15.00/day or $5/hour.”

• Big Rooms, with (accidentillay, I think) funky throwback architecture and public areas
• It's in the mall parking lot & the river is not exactly in view.

“Congratulations are due the photographer/web designer for this hotel for their magical transformation of a parking lot motel into a river view resort. It's a nice enough place, just keep your expectations in check. Friendly staff and large comfortable rooms do not a resort spa make.”

• The pool area was nice.
• Front desk not friendly or nice. Major leaks in the bathroom.

“This must be a motel in transition. Everything is very old and rundown. The pool area could be nice if they got new chairs. The pipes in the bathroom leaked all over the floor. The front desk was not at all nice the maids though, were very helpful. (They gave us towels to mop up all the water).”

• Wish they offered more as far as free breakfast, etc.

“This was a great place to stay and for the money I got it for it was a tremendous bargain. It is a real nice hotel. For the price, however, I would of been disappointed in that it didn't offer many extras that you see at other hotels.”

• It was quiet and comfortable.
• Due to conventions, we had to park our car quite a distance from the building we were staying in which made unloading and loading rather troublesome.

“The hotel room was large and comfortable. Even with several conventions and being full to capacity, it was very quiet and restful.”

• Easy to get to and comfortable beds - good restaurant too.
• Seemed a little run down especially hallways and exteriors.

“I thought this hotel was going to be a little more upscale, but, it was comfortable and the staff was very friendly and welcoming - especially in the restaurant. Food was very good and a nice wine list. The beds were very comfortable and the room was nice.”

• Balconies (albeit with view of parking lot).
• Poor security. Our car was broken into. Staff was not helpful.

“The obnoxious location (between a mall and an overpass) proved to be dangerous, too: our car window was smashed on the first night. We spent the next day getting the damage repaired and cataloging our losses. We needed an extra night in town to get all of the stuff taken care of - the hotel was not helpful. They certainly didn't offer us a break on the room - not even an apology for what happened.”

• Comfortable bed. Nice deck. Pretty quiet once other rooms went to bed.
• There were some noisy people in the hallways until 1:00 am.

• The staff was great, the room was big and I liked the fact we had a patio. I was given a room with the requests I made. It was on the river.
• The room smelled old and musty, the restaurant was very pricy, we left without eating.

“It appears to be an older hotel partially upgraded. Our room was in the older section which was fine considering the price. I am assuming that is the reason for the musty, older smell in the room since the hotel is suppose to be a non smoking hotel. The lobby and surrounding grounds were pretty and well maintained. I liked that it was on the river with an exceptional walking/biking path behind it, along the river. The downside was the restaurant, the room may have been good but it was pricy and we didn't stay to eat. We did however have numerous options for other restaurants nearby. All in all it was a good experience.”

• Good location, with several restaurants within walking and 2 mile radius.
• Old. The bed sheet is so old, it had holes and rips.

“The fitted sheet had stains on it. The sheet had a 4 inch long rip. All the pillowcases and sheets were very old. The blanket looks like from 70's. The entire hotel needed an update 20 years ago.”

• There is nothing that really stands out, the overall was good.

• The staff was very friendly and helpful.
• Parking and beds are terrible.

“I needed a handicap room. The first time, I stayed in the room, but had to walk stairs and could not use the bath/shower. The staff person was ready to put me into handicap for my return trip. When I arrived, it had been given to someone else. With parking so far away from the hotel, and the room being far from the entry door, it is not a good place for handicapped.”

• Great location, wonderful room/view!
• The staff make lots of dumb mistakes that affected us.

“Loved the hotel, there were lots of dump thing the staff made that affected the experience - room keys continuously not working and voided (with no record of us being there at one point), getting coffee at the restaurant they called and complained continuously and made me return claiming I hadn't paid the $6 when another server had picked up payment (& tip) and didn't tell anyone, the restaurant wouldn't seat us on the patio for breakfast saying it was reserved when it wasn't full to begin with and only became deserted during the course of our meal.”

• Check-in was so easy and quick. Maid service was above expectations. Quality!
• The sink pipe leaked every time I used it.

• Very comfortable bed. The room layout was very pleasant.
• The only thing missing was a screen door to the balcony. Many small bugs inside the window.

• It's right on the river. Very Oregonian outdoorsy. Also, there's easy internet access.
• It could be a lot more attractive; it's clean and pleasant, but not much else.
