• I liked leaving this facility.
• The rooms were dingy, shower was not clean, and the hotel/client was ghetto.

“I did not like this hotel. It was old, congested, and parking was unavailable when we checked in. The shower had mildew and fungus, there was no vent. The TV was small and old. The star level was all wrong and should be lowered along with the asking price.”

• Great location - only 1 mile from the airport.
• Smell of restaurant buffet.

“Overall we were very pleased with this hotel. The beds were superior - extremely comfortable. The only problem was that the smell from the buffet had a strong fishy smell; thus we did not eat there. The staff was very efficient and friendly, and the location was excellent. We would definitely stay there again.”

• Very nice view of the bay.
• Hotel had only 3-4 poolside lounge chairs and 0 tables.

• The room was clean and nice.
• The bathrooms were not up to my standards, little bit of mold in the shower.

“In general this is a nice place to stay. The view from the room is great and the size of the room is good. Dinning at the restaurant was very slow and the food was just ok.”

• Loved the beautiful area and neighboring park. It was an easy drive to the volcano.
• The staff was really stiff and unfriendly. They really projected a "pay up and leave us alone attitude".

“The hotel was really in a beautiful area with gorgeous views and the grounds are well kept. The hotel is kept clean and the rooms are nice. The staff however, seems unfriendly and gives only yes/no answers to needs. The funny thing is we didn't have any complaints and the treatment was still kind of stiff and unfriendly. We did not get the impression that they wanted us there.”

• Dining facilities overpriced for star rating of this hotel.

“Beautiful grounds - rooms could use more comfortable beds: king or queen not 3/4 beds. Locks should have magnetic keys. Internet in the lobby should be free for hotel guests. Local calls should be free.”

• Convenient walking/driving distance to desirable locations; great buffet dinner
• Lamp light bulbs needed to be replaced; inadequate electrical outlets

“Convenient access to airport, downtown Hilo, mall and fast food locations, park and local beaches, and to Volcanoes National Park. Dinner buffet was excellent. Parking access was adequate and security-controlled. Room amenities were not outstanding, but were good value for price.”

• Good view and close to everything we wanted to see in Hilo.
• I had to request for a hair dryer and everyone was busy, I was told to call another number.

“Very good for the price I paid. I think it is the best in the area. My anxiety was relieved after seeing the place, I thought it was going to be a poor place but I was mistaken. Their new name is Hilo Hawaiian not Hilo Castle, please pass it on, we had to drive around looking for the later because the address was not visible.”

• Easy to find, walking to restaurants, felt safe, and clean and large room.
• It did not have hair blow dryer, restaurant expensive, no robes.

“The location is ideal, rooms are large, it was quiet, and had free parking. There is restaurant on premises, but also several good ones very close.”

• very old, worn, terribly overpriced

“This place is a very old dump. What wasn't 50 years old was very cheap and worn. I paid for the one bedroom at $260 a night expecting something reasonably nice and the bedroom didn't even have a TV. The beds have no headboards. The TV in the livingroom was a 19in that sat on a table, not even a TV stand. Believe it or not, there was a 40 or 50 year old combination stove and refrigerator (really, a combo) that had all the rust, dirt and scratches to go with its age. A cabinet was so badly scratched up it should have been in the trash. The temperature controls did not work. The Bunyon Drive view was not viewable without leaning off the tiny balcany and the surrounding view is of other very old, rundown hotels. And while they advertised a full kitchen, the only cup or glass available was cheap thin styroform. If I would have paid $60 for this place, I would have felt I overpaid.”

• Could use a little updating

“It was an overall good experience. The resturant was quite plesant and had good food. The staff was helpful. The parking made it easy to come and go as you pleased, and the price was right.”

• Registration desk not friendly or helpful. Price for breakfast way too expensive.Awful Pillows

“Lobby of hotel was lovely. Location was good for travel around the island. Desk Staff was not friendly at all. Asked for Island Coupons that are everywhere and they acted like they have never heard of such a thing. Bellman was very nice. Room does not have hair dryer.”
