“Nice hotel but not nice enough for the price. Everything is way overpriced here. Like most resort hotels everyone throws their towel and saves a seat at the pool so you can't get a seat easy. Parking is a nightmare, and at times the lot is full and you have to valet your car. Almost impossible to find something to do after 9 pm anywhere around here. The views are awesome. Beach is clean and grounds are well kept. Breakfast buffet for 2 will set you back $75. First day here had basic lunch and was $100.” Feb 26, 2009 by
Melanie from Queen Creek,AZ
“Hotel was nicest on our side of island, but right in line of HI trade winds and windiest we encountered on the entire island.” Feb 2, 2009 by
Lily from Renton,WA
“Overall pleased with this hotel. Our room was nice & updated overall, but I noticed cobwebs in one corner and the counter-tops were never wiped down thoroughly (trays were never lifted & wiped off underneath, just a cursory wipe around objects). Also, elevators could have used some polishing - lots of nicks and scratches and dings everywhere. Pool was too cold. Otherwise, everything else was very nice. Nice pool layout, location, amenities, etc.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Eke from Severn, MD
“The Westin Kaanapali is at an excellent location on Kaanapali Beach. The room was modern and very well appointed. There is inadequate on-site parking and the parking spaces are extremely narrow, so you can count on plenty of door dings. The valets will double park cars in front of self-parked cars making you wait for them to remove the blocking car. There is a lack of open space outdoors. It is crowded and noisy compared to its neighbors.” May 15, 2008 by
Judy from Cambridge, WI
“This was a marvelous place, and I wish all places we stayed at would be this lovely. We were upgraded (complimentary) to an ocean view room. The only bad thing was that after our room was cleaned, I found hairs (not ours) in the sink, fridge, etc. I also had to request that the switch plate in the bath be wiped due to someone else's dirty fingerprints.” Apr 21, 2008 by
Grace from San Jose, CA
“Facilities were excellent but there were gnats flying over our heads and hovering over the table when we ate dinner at the Tropical (restaurant within the resort). It was quite annoying and distracting. How can one enjoy a beautiful romantic setting when bugs are flying all around you?” Apr 20, 2008 by
Jen from Akron, OH
“Very beautiful resort, shopping is close buy, great workout room and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely return to the Westin for future vacations.” Apr 19, 2008 by
Joann from Newfield, NJ
“At first I was disappointed, but after being at the Sheraton I realized it was a better choice for us. The property is sprawling which made it feel not as crowded as other hotels, the pool was a dreamy lagoon pool. The tiki torches lighting the property at night and the Hawaiian entertainment set a romantic atmosphere. We were able to snorkel at one of the best and easiest to enter the water right off our beach. We were shocked at the food prices at most restaurants including the restaurants at the Sheraton. Be prepared for a daily resort fee of $20.00 (not sure what that included). This resort was a short walk to whalers village where you have a choice of other places to eat, and a nice stroll at the end of the day.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Vincent from Montgomery Village, MD
“It is a good hotel for vacation with the family, the only negative thing is that it is impossible to find parking space if you come back from dinner to park the car.” Apr 5, 2008 by
Vincie from Toronto
“The most disappointing accommodation that we have ever stayed at, in comparison to the Fairmount, Hilton, Marriott, Venetian, Bellagio, etc that we have been. I thought staying at a Westin would at least guarantee a decent level of cleanliness but the cleaning staff is inconsistent (there were still sand in the bathroom after a cleaning). Although they claim the rooms were renovated, I suppose they forgot about the curtains and the carpet. The curtains were dirty and a narrow piece of carpet was ripped beside the closet. They did have newer furniture, shower heads ("heavenly bath" they call it) and the beds (again "heavenly bed") though. Talking about beds, my 6-year old was bitten severely by bed bugs. I admit we overlooked her condition and thought she just scratched her arms due to the sun or perhaps sun tan lotion. She is an active child and didn't complain much. When we flew back and spent more time with her after a bath, there were literally 15 bed bug bites (confirmed by doctor) on her underarm and surrounding areas (in addition to those we previously thought were skin irritation). I felt so guilty for not noticing when we were there. Either way, we thought to write to Westin so this won't happen to other families but we are disappointed to receive a response that they found no bed bugs activities in our room. Not sure whether it's their policy to not admit it, what does that mean? Are they going to replace the bed or clean it up? Do they think we were lying? I still kept the emptied luggage in the garage because I'm afraid to bring any bugs into my house! If you are looking for a high end accommodation and willing to pay the price, look elsewhere.” Mar 31, 2008 by
Gloria from Rescue, CA
“Location is fabulous, great for a family on vacation. Staff very helpful and pleasant.” Mar 24, 2008 by
Aaron from Great Neck, NY
“Great beach but as with many of the Kaanapalli hotels, this property is a bit old and outdated.” Mar 17, 2008 by
Demetri from Milwaukee, WI
“Delivered what a Westin Resort hotel should. Offered adequate pool facilities and services. Beach access was great and Kaanapali's beache was pristine. A lot of activities and shopping within walking distance of hotel. Lahaina a stones throw away also. Almost there, just lacked a little something to make exceptional.” Mar 10, 2008 by
Sarah from Kenmore, WA
“This is a beautiful resort with tons of space to "getaway". We had a beautiful view of the mountain & loved every minute of our stay. Wish they'd do away with the ridiculous "resort fee". Otherwise absolutely no complaints.” Mar 10, 2008 by
Matthew from Kenmore, WA
“It was great from the moment we checked in Intel we had to check out. The pools were wonderful, the access to and from the beach itself was great, the rooms were very spacious with an excellent bed, and the employees were very helpful and kind. Just walking around the hotel felt like you were in someplace special.” Mar 6, 2008 by
Wendy from Nantucket, MA
“The hotel looked dated from the outside, but was fine inside. staff very nice and landscaping, pool, slide and beach all wonderful. Only thing I really did not like, they charged 20.00 resort fee per day over what you charged, then wanted to charge an additional 25.00 per day for a beach chair and umbrella if you wanted one. Cheap!” Mar 6, 2008 by
Lisa from Discovery Bay, CA
“I don't feel this particular hotel lives up the Westin name. If I were paying full price for the room, I would've been extremely upset about some of the housekeeping's issues and the lack of concern by some of the staff.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Susan from Castle Rock, CO
“Nice hotel for what it is. A large tropical destination with lots of pools, cabanas, plants, great beaches and views. It's a bit too touristy for me but families with kids would probably love it. Very loud, with exercise classes blasting just above the restaurant area and tons of people. The only quiet area was the spa, which was expensive but good. A main elevator and the internet were down for much of our visit. Food was marginal. The whale watching trip was great.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Lee from San Diego, CA
“Family friendly, fabulous location, great staff, beds comfy, room nice, views great, overall a great choice.” Feb 27, 2008 by
Krista from Costa Mesa, CA
“Best hotel I have stayed at in Hawaii. The staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. The grounds are stunning. The pool and waterslide kept us busy all day. Best of all, the beach and Whalers Village shops and restaurants are steps away. Perfect for families- kids eat free at poolside restaurant with delicious food. Great for honeymooners, too as they have a separate adults only pool and Jacuzzi area.” Feb 19, 2008 by
Barb from Waltham, MA
“The hotel was alright, but it was disappointing for a resort. The bed was very comfortable, rooms clean, etc. But, we could hear the neighbors talking clearly and woke us up each morning. There were only 2 elevators and one broke down thus we waited long times for it. Even when both were working. The parking was horrible and good luck finding a spot. Then, if you do, it's most likely a tiny spot and your car ends up damaged the next day. The good thing is they upgraded us to an ocean view room which was a gorgeous view.” Feb 16, 2008 by
Bernie from Jacksonville, FL
“Great location OM Maui close to everything, and sheltered from the trade winds.” Feb 9, 2008 by
Jennifer from Rocky River, OH
“This literally has probably been my best travel experience ever. The rooms were exquisite - the bed was comfortable, the shower, bathroom, floor layout, lanai, the view, you name it. I liked having a fridge to use. Great location in Kaanapali, convenient to dining and activities on Maui. The pool area was exceptional, and the beach couldn't have been nicer. Parking spaces were miserably tight - my husband recently injured his back in a car accident, and he could not get out of the car once I pulled into a space.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Gail from Pittsford, NY
“Marble in bathrooms was covered with soap scum and grout needed a good cleaning. Carpets dirty. Nice pools and landscaping. Beautiful beach. Ocean view rooms were noisy because of flocks of birds which roosted mornings and evenings.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Yury from Vancouver, BC CA
“A nice upscale resort on a good spot on a beach, near Whalers Village, beautiful grounds with nice swimming pools good for kids. For dining, better do it elsewhere - too expensive.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 29, 2008 by
Joshua from Bakersfield, CA
“Best location of all resorts. It is located right on the best beach. Snorkeling available right outside the hotel. Nice, clean rooms, with great views.” Jan 20, 2008 by
Dave from Piedmont, CA
“The hotel was nice, but could have been cleaner. Our shower had a leak and a broken shower head and I'm sure if we had said something once we got to the room it would have been fixed, but just dealt with it. There were some dead bugs on the ceilings which was unattractive and odd. The room had a great view and the staff was truly 5 stars. They were kind and courteous and very helpful around checkout time allowing for a late checkout even though they had full bookings for our checkout date.” Jan 3, 2008 by
Alberta from Aiea, HI
“This hotel can be enjoyed by the young and the young at heart. Be prepared to spend time relaxing and just enjoying all this hotel has to offer. Remember that drinks and meals are a little pricey. With four star accommodations and service, you will not be disappointed.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Jim from Woodbridge, VA
“On the ocean. We had a great view from the 5th floor. Great pool, water falls, ponds! Nice relaxing atmosphere!” Dec 29, 2007 by
Mei from Millbrae, CA
“Great resort, very tropical like palm trees, flamingos, etc. Very clean. Staff is very helpful and friendly.” Dec 29, 2007 by
Nicole from Los Angeles, CA
“The Westin Maui is a very nice hotel. It has a good looking hotel lobby. Very inviting and what you would expect from a high quality hotel in west Maui. The staff rolled a twin bed in for my son, which was very comfortable. I was impressed that it could fit in the room considering the room was small. I like the upgraded flat screen TV and the mini refrigerator. The view of the ocean was fantastic from the ninth floor. December is a good time to visit Maui.” Dec 21, 2007 by
Kevin from Chicago, IL
“The common areas of the property including the spa, pool, fitness center, and restaurants were near excellent. The location is also ideal as there is great shopping onsite and it's very close to Lahaina Town which has additional shopping, restaurants and other activities for those wanting to escape the resort for the day.” Dec 20, 2007 by
Stephen from Reno, NV
“Sheraton is a nice hotel although the restaurants aren't that great. The space is so vast that getting to your room can seem like a tremendous journey.” Dec 19, 2007 by
Omar from Cary, NC
“Beautiful hotel with excellent views. The beach is nice. The service was great. The staff was helpful. I might go to again but if I am going with a group of friends next time I will probably go to a different area than Kannapolis.” Nov 14, 2007 by
A from Carlsbad, CA
“This hotel was great for the price we paid. Oceanfront property and beautiful location. Even a free bottle of champagne for our honeymoon.” Nov 10, 2007 by
Aaron N. from Fort Worth, TX
“Great place to stay to relax no reason to leave. But it's far from other Maui attractions and limited in places to walk to from here.” Nov 9, 2007 by
Lee from Rochester Hills, MI
“Pools are small, but there are four. The beach is nice and convenient. Never crowded and the public areas are large. And the rooms are very small for a resort hotel.” Nov 9, 2007 by
Laura from Danville, CA
“I loved this hotel. And plan to return someday. If you like all that Hawaii has to offer? Then you'll love this place. Although; not too much beach area. It worked for me; as there were sharks in the water during my stay yikes! The pools are the very best part; along with the wildlife. Some people do not like that part, but I love it!” Nov 9, 2007 by
Debi from Aspen, CO
“It was very disappointing because we also stayed at the Hyatt during this trip, which is truly a resort hotel.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Tina from Lacey, WA
“The hotel was nice, but the lack of response from hotel management deterred us from returning.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Stephanie from Bremerton, WA
“We loved our stay at the Westin. There really wasn't much to complain about. I thought the spa would be bigger, the Jacuzzi was very small but everything really was great. Especially the restaurants!” Nov 7, 2007 by
Kevin from Brooklyn, NY
“We had a very good experience at the Westin Maui; staffs are friendly, and the decor is very nice.” Nov 7, 2007 by
Susan from Koloa, HI
“I would love to go again to this exact hotel and get a room facing the garden view with waterfall. My friends started out facing opposite direction of dumpster, roof top & parking views; when they saw our great view across hallway facing opposite direction, the manager moved them for $50 a night; which made them totally happy to be there (they actually allowed them to use 4 of their star wood vouchers and not pay any cash) we all enjoyed the on surf bar & grills excellent quality of food!” Nov 5, 2007 by
Gail from Yuba City, CA
“Our concierge helped us in every way possible even faxing over paperwork to the car rental. I would stay here again.” Nov 4, 2007 by
John from Honolulu, HI
“My only real gripe was the nickel and diming. You would think for the price you would have at least one movie channel and one music channel, but they would rather sell you movies ($12.95) and music ($12.95 for 2 hours) on lodgenet. Also, when I checked out I tried to get a luggage cart and was in formed; rudely I might add, by one of the bellmen that hotel policy prohibits guests from handling luggage carts. in other words, you must call and tip a bellman to take your luggage down for you.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 29, 2007 by
Julie from Chanhassen, MN
“I've stayed at their location in palm springs and love the setting. However my Maui experience beat all my hopes. We were celebrating a 40th birthday party and the guest service personnel helped me make it special and bumped us even to an ocean view.” Oct 27, 2007 by
Marie from West Palm Beach, FL
“Excellent location on Kannapolis beach. Lots of activities for guests of all ages. Plenty of space meant no problem finding chairs around the multiple pool areas. Ocean tower rooms looked like they could use a refurbishing but we were extremely pleased at the value we got for the price we paid.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Chad from Olympia, WA
“The Westin Maui captures to the spirit of Hawaii with an expansive fantasy pool, ocean view spa, and comfortable, well appointed rooms (newly remodeled with flat panel TVs as well as Westin's signature heavenly bed and bath amenities). in addition to solid accommodations and amenities, the resort's dining is above average, with a variety options from full service to snacks. The Westin Maui's only major drawback is that the property is aging, and it shows in the small room size (smaller than current standards) and dated architecture. What ultimately sets it apart, however, is the superior service. The staff is polite, helpful, and quick to provide assistance at a moment's notice. This property accommodates both families and couples looking for romance equally well, and is highly recommended for Maui vacationers.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 23, 2007 by

“Excellent place, clean, beautiful pools, spectacular views, friendly staff, great location, just a pleasurable paradise!” Oct 22, 2007 by
Phoebe from San Francisco, CA
“The hotel was very nice. I do believe it is geared more for business travelers, conventions, etc. The room was kept clean each day. It is conveniently located near the Long Island Expressway (495). Menu choices were very good, but costly. An added convenience that was much appreciated, a free internet service was made available to guests in order to print out their boarding passes, if applicable.”
