“A very nice place for the price. Close to the heart of Waikiki. Well run.” Mar 31, 2008 by
N from Winnipeg, MB CA
“Staff was very friendly, complimentary coffee was a plus, continental breakfast was a nice convenient start to the day when you're heading out. Location was fabulous. Very short walk to the beach, but away from the business of the beach. Also very close to restaurants, shops, and the International Marketplace. Lobby was very nice and comfortable. Pool area was very nice. Rooms are ok. Under renovations, so will be a lot nicer once they are complete.” Mar 28, 2008 by
Joe from El Segundo, CA
“Good and comparable to hotels in Waikiki.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Elly from Renton, WA
“Loved the location. Staff very friendly and helpful. We stayed on the second floor in a smoking room facing the street. It was very noisy. Would suggest to maybe spray smoking rooms with some airfreshner - did have a lingering of cigarette smoke. We bought our own spray - did help some. I know - smokers are "terrible" people! Otherwise, no complaints.” Feb 20, 2008 by

“For the money it cannot be beat. My room was huge by Honolulu standards. The hotel is clean and comfortable. One block from the beach. Free continental breakfast. Coffee, juice, a piece of fruit and a pastries is all I need in the morning. I would stay here again.” Feb 14, 2008 by
Jeremy from Torrance, CA
“Hotel was good overall but the room stunk of smoke too much.” Feb 13, 2008 by

“This hotel was very nice if you are with your spouse or just as a business traveler. The hotel staff was very friendly efficient and knowledgeable of the area.” Feb 13, 2008 by

“Very fun, very spacious, good value.” Dec 14, 2007 by

“The staff was friendly. The rooms were clean and had the min. Required. The location of the hotel made up for some of the short comings of the hotel.” Dec 12, 2007 by
Charles from Honolulu, HI
“The room was ok, nothing exciting, nothing bad. I did find a 2 inch cockroach under the head board on my last day. I also complained of someone smoking pot in the lanai next to me which I could see and I showed to a maintenance staff member, and the smell entering my room. The hotel staff including the night manager was afraid to confront the guest in any manner.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Karen from Palo Alto, CA
“Very nice, but the bathroom and kitchen area of my room need a makeover. I saw their new plans for room remodels and it will be beautiful. Incredibly nice staff. Excellent massage therapist, but the spa is a bit tiny. The pool is small but has a very nice atmosphere. Well done.” Nov 2, 2007 by

“The hotel looks a lot better than what it was before.” Oct 23, 2007 by

“[Posted October 23, 2007] the aqua bamboo is on a very busy and noisy street. It is nice, overall, and you can get discounts to about $75 per night. Just search on line. We are staying in a privately owned condo in the hotel and would not recommend this to anyone. The carpet is stained and smelly, the ac leaks all over the lanai, and the bathroom sink is plugged up. The owner doesn't take a lot of care with cleaning, and the refrigerator was not working when we got in for our month long stay. We are paying $1,875 for the month. Linda le did drop off a new dorm style refrigerator within three days of us letting her know that the built in one wasn't working, but she had to have known that it was not operational before we started our month stay. The location of the hotel is only a block from the beach (and to the duke web cam that you can find on the internet.) The bus runs right up the street and there is a lot to do within walking distance. Besides being somewhat old, the hotel is in good condition and if you stay up in the higher floors, I imagine the road noise is not so bad. They have one hour free happy hour on Thursdays that is not so bad! And, the staff seems friendly. The hotel seems to be full on Fridays and Saturdays, but has open rooms during the week. There is high speed, wired internet and basic cable. Oh, and they have a ground level pool and small hot tub (only big enough for one couple at a time.” Oct 11, 2007 by

“Comfortable to stay at and in central Waikiki, close to shopping and the beach.” Jun 28, 2007 by
kathy from Ponchatoula, La.
“We were near the beach, great view from our balcony, room was small but we weren't there most of the time, pretty patio and pool area, coffee 24/7, fruit, bagels, muffins and juice for breakfast, helpful staff, security. Our stay here could not have been any better, we would go again and will recommend this hotel to our friends.” Feb 7, 2007 by
Katherine from Stanford, KY
“My experience in this hotel was wonderful, and I would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Honolulu. I've traveled extensively, and the staff at this hotel was the most courteous I¿ve ever come across. I will definitely return to this hotel for business and pleasure.” Jan 8, 2007 by
Michelle from Maui
“I booked this hotel by calling it directly. We were on Oahu for a family emergency. I did not have internet access but recalled reading on the aqua website last year that it was newly renovated and had seen pictures of a pretty, modern smooth black furniture room with orchids around. I suppose the stained mattresses in the parking garage next to the elevator should have been a clue. The elevator itself was funky. Chipped marble, dented stainless steel. When we entered the lobby, I thought maybe it'd be ok. The lady at the desk was wonderful. She was very nice. We went up to the room and just sort of stopped. It was so dark and dingy. The pictures on-line are completely misleading. It's not modern at all. The plaster is falling off the walls and ceilings. The beds were so old they sagged and squeaked when we set our bags on them. (not wanting to touch the floor) I was so tired and hungry. I thought maybe I was being unreasonable. We walked down the street to Denny¿s and ate dinner. We went back to the hotel 30 mines later. It was worse than I remembered. The lady at the front desk refunded our money very apologetically and didn't even ask why. It's like she's used to being in that situation. We went to the aqua palms hotel where we had stayed before and were very, very happy. .” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Aug 18, 2006 by

“Despite a very convenient location, the decor was out of the '70s. It would be a good idea for them to use some of the substantial income they receive from high room rates to update this disappointing hotel. I would expect to pay half the rate charged for these accommodations.” Apr 14, 2006 by

“We were scheduled to stay 7 nights at this hotel. Check in was great, very friendly and courteous staff. Very run down, and shows it age. Bathroom was disgusting. Mildew on tub floor and extremely dingy, peeling walls around the shower. Kitchen, outside of refrigerator was filthy. The hotel did try to accommodate us by putting us up in the Pent House for the night and agreeing to let us change rooms in the morning. Penthouse had four patio doors of which only 2 locked, the others would not lock. Paint badly scraped along walls and baseboards. The following morning we looked at 4 additional rooms. All of them had problems, especially the cleanliness of the bathrooms. We checked out, and went to another hotel. The staff was very friendly throughout this whole ordeal and tried to be accommodating. The staff at this hotel is fantastic, they should seek employment at a better hotel. The inside appearance of this hotel is very run down, almost slummy looking. With the staff they have, they could have a great hotel if they updated and changed cleaning practices. Will never stay at this hotel again” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Hotel Representatives:
