• Nice decor - walking distance to restaurants, shopping.
• Area too populated with tourists - too busy & noisy.

“You can't beat the location of this hotel - right smack in the middle of Waikiki. Because of its location, valet is the only option. Valet is $25 for hotel guests. They greet you with a very warm welcome and handle your car and bags while you check in. The lobby and rooms are beautifully decorated with a Polynesian theme. There are restaurants and shopping in and around the hotel - lots of both! The only problem is its too noisy. I had to move 3 times throughout the evening in an attempt to get some decent sleep.”

• Noise was everywhere. I could hear the next door room, loud music outside, and people walking by. Horrible!

“Much of the hotel could be considered nice. However, the night time noise made this a very disappointing stay. I stayed at a 4 star hotel for three nights before staying here, and I much preferred the 4 star hotel. Forget about getting sleep. I was on the 7th floor, and could easily hear a loud band playing until the middle of the night. Then, the neighboring room decided to get amorous, which was embarrassingly heard. Neighbor shower noise woke me up in the morning one morning, sounding like it was right in the wall beside the bed. You could even hear people and carts going by through the hotel room door.”

“The location of the hotel is great. Walk from the pool directly on the beach and enjoy Waikiki Beach at its best. Have your lunch/dinner at Duke's and overlook the ocean. Besides a great location, the rooms are spacious and clean.”

• I loved the location.
• The elevator system!

“If you are looking for a great location, you cannot beat this hotel. It is in the heart of Waikiki directly across the street from the International market place. The worst part of the hotel was the elevator system. You had to use your room card to operate the elevator. Half the time you missed your floor by the time you got the card to work. I spent too much time joy riding to other floors before being able to stop at my floor. The pool was not worthy of spending time in especially if you have children. It is small, and is 4+ feet throughout. There is no kiddy pool area. It is not a pool you can enjoy. The beach is overly crowded. If you want a beach chair and umbrella the price is $40/day. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. They are great with giving out directions. The food was good and reasonably priced. The hotel had a nice laundry facility ($2.50/wash, $2.00 per 1/2 hour to dry).”

• The staff was thorough and efficient. The hotel was lovely and provided us with all our needs. My teenagers loved this hotel and its facilities.
• The elevator card system was not convenient.

“We enjoyed staying at this hotel for it's convenient location and excellent quality of service. The staff was friendly and made my kids feel that they were at home. My teens did not want to leave! The beach, pool and beautiful views were great. Breakfasts at Dukes offered loads of variety and were of good quality. Our best meal of our vacation was at the Hula Grill. The fish was delicious.”

• The room was too small.

“The room we were given was on the first floor right next to the stairs. The stairs cut into our room, which made it extremely small and quite noisy. The bathroom was tiny. However, the location was great.”

• It was a fancy treat to finish our trip.
• Everything cost more money valet, bellman etc.

“Very nice hotel. Staff were helpful, however having never stayed here before, we didn't really get oriented on the protocol of where everything was and how it all worked. For example, pool hours (hot tub closed early for restaurant) having to rent a beach chair/umbrella (had to get there early like 7:30am early or you missed out) stuff like that. It was nice, but I don't think it was worth the extra money it cost.”

“Upscale rooms with good view. Hotel layout very friendly. Staff was great. Parking was pricy but convenient. Good location for shopping and dining. Down side is that the pool is small and the beach can be crowded.”

“Outrigger Waikiki is at a great location, however, I don't see it really a luxury resort at all. The room is clean but small and the decor is outdated. Good thing about it is nice restaurant and good food, it also offer $10 off for cabana rental as a hotel guest.”

• The furnishings were beautiful and they were very accommodating (check in early, hospitality room).
• They didn't give us umbrellas or beach chairs; we had to pay to rent them.

“I loved the hotel and it was an amazing location on Waikiki beach. They let us check in early and even provided a hospitality room the day I flew out so that I could freshen up before my flight.”

• We loved the hotel location and our room location (Ocean view).
• The restaurants are so popular that there is a long wait for dinner, the other meals were fine.

“We could not have been happier with our stay at the outrigger Waikiki. We feared that by paying a lesser price that we would get the least desirable room in the building. I think we had the best room, short of a suite. I work at a hospital and my husband works at a large utility company. I would expect a lot of new customers from Colorado!”

• Very poor sound insulation. Every time a toilet flushed in another room, we heard it.

“Though the rooms were clean and well appointed, they had the worst sound insulation, every time someone flushed the toilet in another room, we could hear it, not such a big deal unless you are planning on going to sleep. The hotel is right on the beach, which is awesome, but that also means the pool area is really crowded. I had also expected the Outrigger Activities center to provide more information and deals but I found that I was better off booking things directly or using the internet. On the day we were to check out, I received a call at 12:35 to see if we had 'checked out' or if we had 'arranged for a late check out' - obviously, if they were calling we had not and were just running late, so it just seemed really rude. Overall, I was disappointed in the service, hotel and the whole ambiance of the Outrigger and would not stay here nor recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• Good value for the price we paid.
• Thin walls - could hear noise in the hallways.

“Overall we were pleased with this hotel. Good location (right on the beach), safe, clean and friendly staff. Restaurants were good and reasonably priced. On the downside the walls seemed thin and we could hear noise in the hallways, the pool area left much to be desired, and parking at the hotel for the week cost us more than renting the car for the week. But for the price we paid, we felt like we got good value.”

• Great sunset on the beach.
• The walls were rather thin.

“The initial check-in was very easy and the agent was very friendly. The room and facilities were very nice. However the room walls were very thin and we could here the people next door talking and laughing. The air in the room was also difficult to get set comfortably. First it was too hot then too cold. Never could get it just right. The restaurants were great and the views amazing.”

• The staff greeting us during check-in were great and very friendly.
• The hotel rooms were smaller than I expected.

“The hotel is not very family friendly as the pool was not suited for younger children. We also found it difficult to get chairs around the pool area as 75% of the chairs were saved by people putting towels and books on them and yet they did not show up for hours to sit in the chairs.”

“The hotel itself was very well maintained-- newly remodeled and nicely decorated. I did distinctly get the feel. They purposely put us in the worst room available. We were on the 4th floor, nestled quaintly between the main elevator and the staff door. The room was very nice, it was just so noisy! Incredibly loud music could be heard from street level until almost midnight, we were right above the garbage dumpster on street level and the emptying of bottles was heard numerous times in the late night and early morning, and the elevator rumbled up and down all night. Then in the morning, we were awakened quite early (before 7am) by the staff door slamming and the employees talking loudly with each other while they emptied the trash right next to our door. Beyond the noise, the amenities were quite nice! Our flight home wasn't until almost 10pm and because we had checked out by noon, they kindly offered us a guest room to use for forty five minutes so we could shower after our day on the beach. The staff was also quite helpful as we planned things. We had asked the bellman what time he recommended leaving to get to the airport in time for our flight and upon our return at the recommended time, he had arranged a shuttle for us without us having even requested the service! Anyway, great hotel, fantastic location, attentive staff-- but very noisy!”

• A true 4-Star hotel. Clean, modern and a beautiful beach!
• Only thing I didn't like but knew in advance was the $15 parking.
