“No one on duty to valet the car - tried to self park and couldn't - had to trust leaving the keys in the car to go upstairs to the vacant lobby. Room was nice but reeked of mold and mildew - hard to breath - only solution given was housekeeping sprayed deodorizer in the room - didn't help - mildew was pervasive...even in the pillows and sheets. Didn't even want to stay to experience the rest of the hotel, like the pool, spa etc...weird layout for the hotel...never saw any of the amenities if there were any. Staff was friendly...parking was astronomical at $22 + valet tip (especially considering there was no valet on duty when I arrived!) Can't recommend to anyone with breathing problems or allergies to mold...this could be hazardous to your health.” Jan 19, 2008 by
Sandy from Newbury Park, CA
“Enjoyed staying at the hotel, close to beach and could pick up tours conveniently from hotel close by.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Ross from Fresno, CA
“This hotel is great for a couple of days. It is not on the beach and would require car travel if little kids were involved. The rooms were ample in size and comfort.” Jan 16, 2008 by
Courtney C. from Scottsdale, AZ
“Nice hotel. Staff is friendly, esp. cleaning service. Room was nice and clean. Wish the wireless internet access was free with room. Wish the shower was bigger and shower curtain was cleaner. Wish cleaning people would have consistently left new soap and shampoo.” Jan 12, 2008 by
Charles from Honolulu, HI
“Hotel was fine, expect someone was smoking pot on the lanai next to me. I complained to staff and management, but they seems too scared to respond. No effort was made to confront the pot smoking guest. I guess the hotel does not believe the enforcement of laws should apply to their hotel.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 9, 2008 by

“Nice hotel, not close enough to beach / shopping for our taste.” Dec 17, 2007 by
Lisa from Seattle, WA
“Was very disappointed that I was put in a room right across from a room that was being completed gutted and renovated. At 9am, they were hammering, drilling and talking loudly. I had to ask them to change my room, which they did, but only down the hall.” Dec 15, 2007 by
Grace from Oakland, CA
“The room was clean, well designed, and comfortable. Overall, the room and service exceeded our expectations.” Dec 7, 2007 by
Daniel from Chino, CA
“It was good for the money spent, but would not recommend if you pay top dollar for it.” Dec 3, 2007 by
Dennis from San Jose, CA
“Convenient place for a short stay. Restaurants, shopping, etc. But not practical for longer stays without kitchen oven or even microwave.” Dec 3, 2007 by
Cheryl from Orcas, WA
“The staff was friendly and personable. The hotel was very clean and with a nice restaurant. Good food and drinks.” Dec 2, 2007 by
Julia from Burlingame, CA
“The hotel was as expected with polished and professionally mannered staff to assist guests. The welcome treat was a nice way to great guests but the high cost of valet parking (no self-parking) and internet is still jarring, especially for this rating of hotel. Certain staff went out of their way to assist us but others went by the book and would not budge on house rules.” Dec 2, 2007 by
Todd from Richmond, CA
“Lucky if they ever get great reviews. Almost every other Hilton owned property has given better service and experience.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Cathy from Toronto, FL
“This hotel is clean with a lot of amenities and close to both shopping and the beach. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Mike from Wahiawa, HI
“Overall a good value for the location. I would rate this motel at the very low end of a 3 star.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Maureen from Renton, WA
“While the hotel is older, the rooms were updated and the staff very accommodating.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Lia from Honolulu, HI
“Was nice but the rooms need to be cleaned a bit more thoroughly, and a DVD player would be nice to have, also. Parking rates were a bit high. The staff was excellent, though, very professional and friendly.” Oct 22, 2007 by
Warren from San Juan Capistrano, CA
“What I expected for a 3 star.” Oct 20, 2007 by
Laura from La Quinta, CA
“Doubletree Alana is a lovely little hotel in the bustling tourist area of Waikiki. An ideal location, it's close to the ubiquitous abc stores, which sell souvenirs and travel items, and also close to various restaurants such as cheeburger, star bucks, Thai and sushi establishments and more. A short two blocks from the beach, the doubletree is a partner of the extravagant Hilton Hawaiian village, which sits on a tranquil strip of private beach and will open a swimming lagoon in November 2007. Doubletree guests are invited and encouraged to visit the Hilton Hawaiian village, and it's worth it just to see the resort's penguins, turtles, flamingos and koi fish. The Hilton also has an array of shops and restaurants on its property. Doubletree has a friendly activities director on staff who can arrange excursions as well as make recommendations for dining and shopping options. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and rooms are pleasant, albeit with unspectacular views. The bathroom shower seems to confuse many people due to its higher than normal tub wall, but it's not a problem and, in fact, is meant to cater to Japanese tourists who are used to this type of shower. In room coffee and a full size hairdryer are welcome amenities, along with the luxurious neutrogena toiletries. A short walk from the hotel will put you in the heart of the upscale shopping district in Honolulu, which features Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, the cheesecake factory and the Honolulu cookie co., as well as the international marketplace and more affordable shops such as crazy shirts, more abc stores, star bucks, etc. There are public bus stops all along Ala Moana drive (on which the doubletree is situated), and the Ala Moana center, Honolulus premier shopping mall, is less than a mile's walk from the hotel. The one thing that made us do a double take was the doubletree's per night parking fee, which we avoided simply by driving around the nearby streets looking for free street parking. It's a challenge.” Oct 19, 2007 by
Barbara from Pahoa, HI
“This hotel is located at the entrance to the Waikiki area of Honolulu. A very walkable area with shops and restaurants. All of the rooms have lanais, which is a plus in my book. The bathrooms are small but nicely done with marble tile and nice showers. All parking is valet, but the valets are friendly and fast. I called down for my car twice, and it was there when I got to the door. The staff is friendly and great about giving directions and that type of thing.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Laurie from Hilo, HI
“Excellent location and accommodations. The room was welcoming and large sized. Queen beds very nice with high end linens. I'd stay again.” Oct 8, 2007 by
Deanna from Cincinnati, OH
“The staff was great! The changed my check in date so I didn't lose a day! Made having a 36 hour trip over to Hawaii not as bad as it already was! Thanks so much doubletree. I only had a couple of problems. They were repairing front drive and it was a pain to have to walk around side. When leaving me had valet hold a few bags for me and they had door to storage room wide open when I looked around no valet was present. They give you a tag that says they are not responsible for lost/ stolen property. I really didn't feel it should have been left open an unattended like that. Doubletree was really nice cheese burger in paradise was just around corner. Buy a bus/ trolley card you will need it! If you are going to Honolulu area eat at eggs & things! So good! Take a trip to north shore it is much better than Waikiki.” Oct 4, 2007 by
Peter from Hanford, CA
“This was a very clean, beautiful hotel. The parking is expensive at $20 per day but the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are in excellent condition. Well recommended.” Sep 26, 2007 by
Toshihiro from St.Louis, MO
“We stayed this hotel two years ago. Staffs were very friendly and we loved this hotel. Everybody was very kind and helpful.” Aug 28, 2007 by
George from Simi Valley, CA
“I wanted to be a bit closer to the beach. The entryway/lobby was situated in a funny way. The price turned out to be good, but it cost an extra 20 dollars to park the rent a car. Don't like that, but I guess that's the norm in a busy area like that.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Coleen from Honolulu, HI
“We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, and the new Waikiki Beach Walk. The staff was friendly and efficient.” Jul 5, 2007 by

“This hotel meets all the needs one would have while visiting Waikiki. Affordable parking, great location, comfortable beds, great rest bar, and a very attentive staff.” Jun 15, 2007 by
Joe from Yorktown, VA
“Excellent.” Jun 13, 2007 by
Heather from Haleiwa, HI
“Nice new decor, comfortable bed, nice lanai, room and bathroom a little small, would have liked a bathtub vs. shower, nice heated pool, very friendly staff although not always helpful, expensive mandatory valet parking, but we found street parking close by.” May 11, 2007 by
Linda from Overland Park
“The room had a bad odor and the shower curtain smelled mildewed. When I called to complain, someone was sent to deodorize the room but two hours later the odor was back. I cut my stay short and left the next morning. When I checked out I explained why I was not staying the full time that I had reserved the clerk did not seem to care or express concern about my unpleasant stay. I would not recommend this hotel. ” May 10, 2007 by
F B. from Revere, MA
“I would not recommend this hotel to someone I know. This hotel is not what I thought about it.” May 8, 2007 by
Mike from La Canada, CA
“The hotel was great. Great price for the overall value received. Great location, walking distance to shopping. Rooms were clean, roomy and very comfortable. Would definitely stay there again.” Apr 30, 2007 by
Wallie from St Louis, MO
“I would definitely stay at the doubletree again. The location was perfect for us, maybe a mile or less to Waikiki beach but my husband and I like to walk so that was no problem. Plus the walk is fun and everyone else is walking to and from the beach also. Lots of shops along the way to visit. We did not use the restaurant but had drinks at the bar - bartender made great drinks and was very personable. I'd go back again.” Mar 16, 2007 by
Michelle from Kapaa, HI
“This hotel was in a great location. The staff was friendly and the lobby area was attractive and safe. The bed in the room was what you would usually find in a more expensive resort. The room was small but well put together. The only problem was that the toilet overflowed, which explains the slight smell in the bath room when we first arrived. I think the toilet must do that often. Call in the plumber and this is a great place to stay.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Sep 5, 2006 by

“The on-site restaurant, Padovani's, is no longer in operation, although it is still listed on hotel literature. As a Hilton elite member, we were upgraded to a suite on a low level (10th floor). In addition to a separate living and sleeping area, the room had a wet bar and fridge. The bathroom amenities were all Neutragena and towels were fresh and fluffy. No bathrobes. Room was clean and the bed ideal. We were able to obtain a late checkout, although this wasn't communicated to housekeeping, who knocked twice after normal checkout time. We received a full Sunday newspaper, which was an unexpected surprise. Honors earned us a $12 per person breakfast credit which paid for a "continental" breakfast. For an additional $5 the full hot breakfast was available, which we opted for and were pleased. $14 per day valet parking was annoying. Neighborhood was fine. Hilton Hawaiian Village is two blocks to the right as you leave the hotel. The hotel markets activities at the Hilton, although you have to ask someone for directions if you are not familiar with the area. The hotel overlooks some local area rental apartments, which we found interesting, since some were nicer than others, but nothing about the area seemed unsafe. However, there is considerably less pedestrian traffic here at night than in other parts of Waikiki. A walk to the beach (Hilton is closest, but not close enough that you would consider returning to your room if you forgot something.)” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Aug 11, 2006 by

“Excellent location. Minutes from the Hilton Hawaiian Resort and the beautiful beach. Great service and friendly staff. Enjoy a warm, freshly baked chocolate-chip cookie upon your arrival.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 1, 2006 by

“Not the value or the location I thought it would be. First & last time I will stay there. Won't recommend it to friends, family or business acquaintances. Except for the wait staff, not a very happy crew. Too hard to find, drive to and park at.” Jul 18, 2006 by
Jeffrey from Clarksville, TN
“The room was small, the bathroom was extremely tiny and the shower was half the size of a normal shower. My ocean view was a glimpse between two buildings. My primary view was the side of a building. Every hotel that I have booked online at the so-called good rates, have been less of a hotel room than the star rating.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 11, 2006 by

“Close to restaurants, shopping, very clean, no afternoon sun at the pool.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 7, 2006 by

“It was clean and recently remodeled (the free standing bathroom sink still wobbled, and the new shower was over a 1/2 tub!), but the room was too small for a king bed. Three stars is being generous.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 3, 2006 by

“This hotel is by far the best bang for the buck I have ever found. It's like a 4-5 star feeling. You get treated like a kind.. 10+++++ awesome hotel” 1 of 2 people found this review helpful.May 6, 2006 by

“This is a nice hotel with clean rooms. Basic amenities are all there, though they do charge fees for things that should be free like internet access in rooms and parking. Excellent service at the front desk. Closer to Waikiki than I expected I recommend this hotel for business travelers with expense accounts but not for those looking for a romantic Waikiki getaway.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Apr 19, 2006 by

“The hotel is in an excellent location. The staff is friendly and courteous. I was unexpectedly upgraded to a suite and it was spacious with an excellent view of the Waikiki.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 8, 2006 by

“The rooms needed overhauls, their was dirt around the baseboards and detail cleaning was not done. They advertised having two restaurants but one was never open, and the other was just a bar with food. The bell stand ignored us upon our arrival and another guest helped us with our bags, then when the bell staff finally helped they took us to the wrong room. The front desk did not do anything to provide any service over and above and barely met expectations. Brochures handed out by the concierge were several years old with outdated information.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 20, 2006 by
