“Overall, I was satisfied with my stay. I got what I expected according to the star rating. The staff was very friendly and it has the amenities I needed. I would definitely come back here.” Jun 3, 2009 by

Olivier from Kauai,HI
“Very good location, 500 meters from the most beautiful part of Waikiki beach !” May 4, 2009 by
Lynn from Overgaard,AZ
“This hotel is an older property, just a block from the beach. The rooms are small, but beds are very comfortable. Don't stay here if you plan to spend time in the room doing more than sleeping. The views from the room are unattractive (parking lots, slum apartments, trash bins). The pool is small, but adequate. Very noisy area at night - traffic and sirens all night, but little noise from other rooms.” Apr 24, 2009 by
Diana from San Jose,CA
“Just off the Waikiki strip, not for party people, but perfect for business or married or old people. Great in room coffee and fridge add value. Very clean and comfy.” Mar 9, 2009 by
Tess from Dartmouth,MA
“Mediocre at best. But too far from stuff.” Jan 12, 2009 by
Cameron from St Albert,Canada
“Great hotel with friendly service. Very close to attractions in Waikiki area.” Dec 15, 2008 by
Mel from Las Vegas,NV
“Beautiful hotel, great location, great amenities that include easy valet parking, Really nice working fitness room, nice pool, everything was beyond our expectations and got our vacation off to a happy start!” Jul 9, 2008 by
Trish from Honolulu, HI
“Overall the rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff was great with our needs. Hotel was at full capacity and under renovation, so we did not get all our room requests and the full use of hotel amenities.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Kim from Victoria, BC CA
“Very busy with teens in sports teams. They were largely unsupervised and ran amok of the public areas.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Dawnetta from Warrenton, MO
“Loved it. the cookies are a must have. Great price, friendly & clean.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Donna from Conyers, GA
“This was a nice hotel near the beach for the price. The staff were very professional. During our stay, the fitness centre was undergoing renovation which was a major disappointment. The pool was very basic and unwelcoming. It had free Wi-Fi in public areas that was very helpful.” Apr 29, 2008 by
William from New York, NY
“This is a very clean, well run Doubletree hotel. Excellent polite staff, clean rooms and comfy beds. Black out curtains actually kept the room dark, Hawaii or not a dark room is a must for me. The refrigerator in the room wasn't running cold, but if one stashed some ice in it, it worked as a cooler.” Apr 27, 2008 by
Kehaulani from Mililani, HI
“Immaculate corner room with ocean view, a floor right below the penthouse; it couldn't have been any more perfect for us! Room service was quick; the food (J's Egg Special; yummy!) was delicious. Not to mention the warm cookie upon checking in; nice touch! I was so happy with the accommodations and service.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Scott from Federal Way, WA
“If you are a business traveler looking for a central location than may be this hotel works. Otherwise keep on looking you will be extremely disappointed. The hotel is extremely outdated, the rooms are small, the view is not good unless you came to Hawaii to look at other buildings. The parking at the hotel is 20 dollars per day that is not included with the room. The workout facility only has one elliptical, one bike and one treadmill all in horrible shape. The pool is tiny and has very minimal space around it for seating. Over all I would not recommend this hotel. The only positive thing I can say is the staff is extremely nice.” Apr 22, 2008 by
Millie from Aiea, HI
“Double Tree Alana needs to have warm, friendly service upon check in, the valet service when pulling up told us "Valet is only for hotel guest" without even asking "Aloha, are you checking in today?" The hallways to your room felt as if I was at Best Western Motel, the carpets are dirty, the view is overlooking a hostel place which made feel unsecured if you were to leave your lanai/patio door open, the valet service was too expensive $22.00 and they only had valet service. Although this hotel is a franchise off of the Hilton, I would rate this hotel a 2 star.” Apr 10, 2008 by
Kristin from Greenwood Village, CO
“Great location on east end of Waikiki Beach, but the beds had bedbugs and the bath was odd - small (3' x 3') and very high tub with shower overhead, which was not good for children to try to climb in and out of.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Dave from Central Point, OR
“I checked in and it was obvious the motel was vacant. I asked for a free upgrade and got rebuked. The room was very nice the pool was just a pool with nothing outstanding about it. While happy hour was affordable the bar brags of being a wine bar. I asked for a chardonnay and I observed the bar tender pour the remaining of one bottle in my glass, and then open up different label wine, mixing the two. While both were chardonnay one was fermented in oak the other was not. I was thirsty and broke it was a full pour at 44.50 (happy hour).” Mar 27, 2008 by
Darcy from Tustin, CA
“The hotel was okay, but the cupboards in my room were falling apart and had to be repaired twice during my stay. The food was atrocious. I'm not really all that picky, but the room service was literally inedible (except for the French onion soup - that was fine). I also tried ordering up from the restaurant and it was not good - the worst cut of meat I've probably ever had, and just not good for a $35 meal.” Mar 24, 2008 by
Claude from West Hills, CA
“Very friendly and helpful staff and convenient to bus stop to other parts of Honolulu!” Mar 13, 2008 by
Linda from Kamuela, HI
“Convenient to shopping but not to recreational activities of Waikiki. Not the best spot for a family vacation.” Feb 4, 2008 by
Dan from Ann Arbor, MI
“Generally good hotel, reasonable accommodations for money paid, in a reasonable location in Waikiki. Rooms in good repair; hotel clean; staff helpful & friendly. Gripes: on a divided highway so can only be entered from one direction; combined with Waikiki traffic and 1-ways makes it a bit difficult to get to. During our stay we received a letter from the hotel stating that they were doing an insect fumigation the next morning between 8-10am and someone would visit our room. We called the night manager and indicated we did not want to be bug-sprayed, but the exterminator woke us up at 8am anyway. I can't believe they would schedule this while guests were checked in to rooms and this will prevent me from staying there again.” Feb 1, 2008 by
Judy from Arvada, CO
“The hotel was comfortable, clean, and in a good location. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and friendly.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Maria from Houston, TX
“The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the location was good. The pool was too small and it only had Sun in the morning.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Fred from La Crescenta, CA
“Overall, we are very satisfied with the location the cleanness and the treatment by staff. For its price the room was great.” Jan 29, 2008 by
Tammy from Fairbanks, AK
“Nice overall. Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and hotel was located in a nice location. Satisfied customer here!” Jan 27, 2008 by
Dale from Dallas, TX
“Great place to spend a few nights on moderate budget. It is located near the shopping district as well as from the Hilton Hawaiian Village and within 1 mile from the main Waikiki beach.” Jan 25, 2008 by
Mike from Leavenworth, WA
“Your classic 3 star hotel. Good location, clean, friendly staff, middle-class guests, but no frills.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Carol from Santa Clarita, CA
“No one on duty to valet the car - tried to self park and couldn't - had to trust leaving the keys in the car to go upstairs to the vacant lobby. Room was nice but reeked of mold and mildew - hard to breath - only solution given was housekeeping sprayed deodorizer in the room - didn't help - mildew was pervasive...even in the pillows and sheets. Didn't even want to stay to experience the rest of the hotel, like the pool, spa etc...weird layout for the hotel...never saw any of the amenities if there were any. Staff was friendly...parking was astronomical at $22 + valet tip (especially considering there was no valet on duty when I arrived!) Can't recommend to anyone with breathing problems or allergies to mold...this could be hazardous to your health.” Jan 19, 2008 by
Sandy from Newbury Park, CA
“Enjoyed staying at the hotel, close to beach and could pick up tours conveniently from hotel close by.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Ross from Fresno, CA
“This hotel is great for a couple of days. It is not on the beach and would require car travel if little kids were involved. The rooms were ample in size and comfort.” Jan 16, 2008 by
Courtney C. from Scottsdale, AZ
“Nice hotel. Staff is friendly, esp. cleaning service. Room was nice and clean. Wish the wireless internet access was free with room. Wish the shower was bigger and shower curtain was cleaner. Wish cleaning people would have consistently left new soap and shampoo.” Jan 12, 2008 by
Charles from Honolulu, HI
“Hotel was fine, expect someone was smoking pot on the lanai next to me. I complained to staff and management, but they seems too scared to respond. No effort was made to confront the pot smoking guest. I guess the hotel does not believe the enforcement of laws should apply to their hotel.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 9, 2008 by

“Nice hotel, not close enough to beach / shopping for our taste.” Dec 17, 2007 by
Lisa from Seattle, WA
“Was very disappointed that I was put in a room right across from a room that was being completed gutted and renovated. At 9am, they were hammering, drilling and talking loudly. I had to ask them to change my room, which they did, but only down the hall.” Dec 15, 2007 by
Grace from Oakland, CA
“The room was clean, well designed, and comfortable. Overall, the room and service exceeded our expectations.” Dec 7, 2007 by
Daniel from Chino, CA
“It was good for the money spent, but would not recommend if you pay top dollar for it.” Dec 3, 2007 by
Dennis from San Jose, CA
“Convenient place for a short stay. Restaurants, shopping, etc. But not practical for longer stays without kitchen oven or even microwave.” Dec 3, 2007 by
Cheryl from Orcas, WA
“The staff was friendly and personable. The hotel was very clean and with a nice restaurant. Good food and drinks.” Dec 2, 2007 by
Julia from Burlingame, CA
“The hotel was as expected with polished and professionally mannered staff to assist guests. The welcome treat was a nice way to great guests but the high cost of valet parking (no self-parking) and internet is still jarring, especially for this rating of hotel. Certain staff went out of their way to assist us but others went by the book and would not budge on house rules.” Dec 2, 2007 by
Todd from Richmond, CA
“Lucky if they ever get great reviews. Almost every other Hilton owned property has given better service and experience.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Cathy from Toronto, FL
“This hotel is clean with a lot of amenities and close to both shopping and the beach. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.” Nov 8, 2007 by
Mike from Wahiawa, HI
“Overall a good value for the location. I would rate this motel at the very low end of a 3 star.” Oct 31, 2007 by
Maureen from Renton, WA
“While the hotel is older, the rooms were updated and the staff very accommodating.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Lia from Honolulu, HI
“Was nice but the rooms need to be cleaned a bit more thoroughly, and a DVD player would be nice to have, also. Parking rates were a bit high. The staff was excellent, though, very professional and friendly.” Oct 22, 2007 by
Warren from San Juan Capistrano, CA
“What I expected for a 3 star.” Oct 20, 2007 by
Laura from La Quinta, CA
“Doubletree Alana is a lovely little hotel in the bustling tourist area of Waikiki. An ideal location, it's close to the ubiquitous abc stores, which sell souvenirs and travel items, and also close to various restaurants such as cheeburger, star bucks, Thai and sushi establishments and more. A short two blocks from the beach, the doubletree is a partner of the extravagant Hilton Hawaiian village, which sits on a tranquil strip of private beach and will open a swimming lagoon in November 2007. Doubletree guests are invited and encouraged to visit the Hilton Hawaiian village, and it's worth it just to see the resort's penguins, turtles, flamingos and koi fish. The Hilton also has an array of shops and restaurants on its property. Doubletree has a friendly activities director on staff who can arrange excursions as well as make recommendations for dining and shopping options. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and rooms are pleasant, albeit with unspectacular views. The bathroom shower seems to confuse many people due to its higher than normal tub wall, but it's not a problem and, in fact, is meant to cater to Japanese tourists who are used to this type of shower. In room coffee and a full size hairdryer are welcome amenities, along with the luxurious neutrogena toiletries. A short walk from the hotel will put you in the heart of the upscale shopping district in Honolulu, which features Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton, the cheesecake factory and the Honolulu cookie co., as well as the international marketplace and more affordable shops such as crazy shirts, more abc stores, star bucks, etc. There are public bus stops all along Ala Moana drive (on which the doubletree is situated), and the Ala Moana center, Honolulus premier shopping mall, is less than a mile's walk from the hotel. The one thing that made us do a double take was the doubletree's per night parking fee, which we avoided simply by driving around the nearby streets looking for free street parking. It's a challenge.” Oct 19, 2007 by
Barbara from Pahoa, HI
“This hotel is located at the entrance to the Waikiki area of Honolulu. A very walkable area with shops and restaurants. All of the rooms have lanais, which is a plus in my book. The bathrooms are small but nicely done with marble tile and nice showers. All parking is valet, but the valets are friendly and fast. I called down for my car twice, and it was there when I got to the door. The staff is friendly and great about giving directions and that type of thing.”
