“We have been back from Hilton Hawaiian village for 4 days now and I am just about ready to lose my mind. while we were there, my older daughter was attacked by what we thought were mosquito bites (20+ massive bites). Then the next day, I got a few bites too. we saw some mosquitoes at Hanauma bay so we thought that Hawaii just had a lot of mosquitoes. however, now that I'm back home and have done some research, I am convinced that we were attacked by bed bugs. I don't know what to do about this situation. I wish I would have brought it to their attention while I was there. Aside from the bugs, the children had a blast at this hotel. the pools, lagoon, etc. were all convenient. we had a suite in the Tapa Tower with a 180 view of the ocean which was terrific to look out onto every day. I suppose bed bugs are in every hotel but it's just unfortunate that my daughter and I'm going nuts with these itchy welts!” Aug 31, 2009 by

“1. Luau big disappointment based on the Hilton advertisement. Starlight Luau at Hilton Hawaiian Village is the only outdoor luau in Waikiki with spectacular entertainment and dining under the stars. Experience the colorful heritage of the Pacific Islands and join the excitement of the celebration with live music, drums and the drama of traditional Hawaiian, Tahitian and Samoan dance. Indulge in a feast of unforgettable Tropical flavors created with traditional island ingredients. We had to stay in line for half an hour to enter the room. We got in line for long time for the food. We did not experience any outdoor luau or any activities such as Pineapple Toss, Tattoo Station, Hawaiian implement station and crafter/carver table as advertised. We did not see any torch light or any fire show. We are pretty sure; the show will have to shut down in the future because of this. We used to trust Hilton, not any more! 2. TAPA Bar bad hospitality. After Luau, our daughter is tired, sat on the chair at the TAPA bar lounge, we left her there to stop by ABC store to get some stuff, when we came back to pick her up, she cried, because shed been told not to nap there, she did not have her cell phone at the time to contact us. Were so upset, we are guest at the hotel! During the morning we saw a lot of people just sit, nap, relax there, no problem! 3. Bad parking space. We paid for the parking of $24 a day; for a total of $144 for six nights for our rental car; still we have to drive around and around everyday to look for a parking space. We brought this issue to the Hilton management, but no action was taken. 4. Room space: Normally with a regular hotel, we always ask and have room with two queen beds. Here at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, we had two double beds. Conclusion: Normally after each summer vacation trip, we asked the kids how would they rate the trip and would they like to come back? One of my daughters who had bad experience at TAPA bar lounge, answered us NO without thinking.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.May 18, 2009 by

“I have been to Honolulu many times. This by far was the best experience I have had at this hotel or any other. The beds, linen pillows housekeeping were all great. The best was checking in. The hotel clerk could not have been more helpful or have tried harder to find us the best room.” Sep 21, 2008 by

“When we arrived, we stood in line 45 minutes at reservation desk. First part of our stay was a hotel with a view of a parking lot and low rent apartments. Rest of the stay was in a nice hotel - no beach view.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 31, 2008 by

“We would definitely stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village again. The resort was beautiful and tropical feeling. The staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the swimming pools and the hop, skip and a jump to the huge beach. We also enjoyed the music from the live bands that played every evening by the super pool. Everything you need is all within the resort. We can't wait to go back!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 5, 2008 by

“We stayed here while moving to the Island with 4 children. We loved it, except for rental prices and food prices. Would stay here again. Loved the fireworks and beds were so comfortable.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 29, 2008 by

“I tried to call the front desk on four occasions. Each time they hung up on me after a long wait. Other than that, the hotel was fabulous.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 17, 2008 by

“Great resort for families and couples - beach is beautiful and the grounds are impeccable. Hotel rooms in Ali tower are modern but not luxurious. A great place to stay if you want to be away from the excitement of Waikiki beach but within walking distance.” May 11, 2008 by
Rodney from Vienna, VA
“The location of the highway and the grounds are great. The hotel is located in a nicely landscaped tropical village atmosphere on the edge of Waikiki Beach. The location is a little quieter than being on the strip, but an easy walk to the shops and restaurants. The rooms leave a lot to be desired. The decor is 1970's Holiday Inn and the bathrooms were redone years ago. While the bathrooms had been redone some time in the past, they did not replace the sinks or faucets. All 3 of the sinks had rust around the drain and the faucet sets again were from the 1970's. Hardly a 4 star hotel. We were actually upgraded to the Rainbow Tower with a nice view of the marina and ocean beyond, so if this was an upgraded room I would hate to see one that was not an upgrade. The hotel had the feeling that they were trying to squeeze ever last dollar they could out of you. Parking was $24/night and a lounge chair on the beach was $15/day. While I understand having to pay for parking in an urban area, I have never had to pay for a lounge chair at the beach before. Room service and other charges were all off the charts. They close off the pool on Friday evenings for a luau which the charge $25 per person which gets you a chair and drink and a lousy show. If you want to see the show just stand behind the seating and watch, however, it is not really worth the time. This could be a very nice place if the rooms were renovated and the costs of extras more reasonable. If I were to go again, I would stay elsewhere.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 9, 2008 by

“A clean and well-maintained resort quality hotel. Staff is extremely efficient, friendly and courteous. Lovely location on acreage on the west end of Waikiki could be either a plus or minus, depending on whether you want to experience the crowd and explore shopping areas, or just want to soak up the sun and relax.” Feb 15, 2008 by
Walter from South Riding, VA
“For many extra dollars, you get a pool and small exercise room on the second floor and hors d'ouvres if you want to fight crowds for a bit. Also, the help is trained and bright but the whole exercise is designed to cost you money - like $9 for a small milkshake in room service, and about $30 for something like a personal pizza. You need good legs or a car to get to a reasonable restaurant. But then there is $22 a night to park in an inconvenient space. This expense was increased by my bad in being late getting organized for check out. Well, they had it occupied an hour or so after I left. The place is well kept and I might stay there again - but never at anything close to these rates and not on this program. And never eat there.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 9, 2008 by

“We stayed in the Tapa Tower overlooking the construction of a new building across the way. The construction was very noisy and the view impaired. The room itself was very noisy, you could hear voices in the next room even at normal speaking tones. Housekeeping was hit or miss. Sometimes they brought us enough supplies, other times we had to call and request. One day they completely forgot to make up our room and we had to request. Many of the staff including the concierge spoke minimal English. The location and grounds were spectacular! The beach and pools were wonderful. If going back to Hawaii, I would have to decide if the beauty of the property was worth the noise and inconvenience of the housekeeping staff and construction.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 13, 2008 by

“Could be seen as hokey or touristy, but it's beautiful, overlooks the ocean and has tons of things to do and see. What could be bad - it's Waikiki Beach!” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 4, 2008 by

“The Hilton village is a full service hotel with shops, restaurants, a great beach, a central location in Waikiki. The room was great, clean and comfortable. Only problem was the pool temp which was really cold and they did not encourage play in the pool, with no ball throwing. The next place we stayed had pool volleyball, slide, basketball, which is a must in Hawaii.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Dec 15, 2007 by

“Hilton Hawaiian village is truly a village. I did not feel the need to go anywhere else in Honolulu cause everything was conveniently located on the hotel grounds. Service was excellent.” Nov 24, 2007 by

“Hotel was in excellent location and all amenities were good. My children were delighted as the pools are surrounded with all kinds of exotic fish, flamingo, birds, parrots, turtles, even miniature penguins. Great place!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 1, 2007 by

“We had a great time and enjoyed every minute of our stay. We had breakfast every morning in the rainbow tower buffet. The food was great and you could add the hot buffet for an additional $5.00. The room was clean and kept clean. The pools and the beach were great. Since we were the in the fall, we did not have crowds and found plenty of room everywhere. We would stay here again.” Sep 12, 2007 by
Jr from Agoura Hills, CA
“The first room we were given was extremely noisy, on the third floor right above the bar and near live music. It had only one bed (we requested 2) and the front desk needed "manager's approval" to move us to a room on the 10th floor with 2 beds. If we had stayed in the first room the stay would have been much, much worse.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 26, 2007 by

“Pleasant atmosphere too crowded in pools, no romance, and chairs packed around pool. Food in restaurants and buffet was ok but was extremely expensive for the quality and service. Looked forward to layout on beach at resort and they wanted approximately 15.95 per chair and also charge for umbrella, how cheap. I will never return to this site, very disappointed!” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Jul 25, 2007 by

“I can't say there was any bad restaurant in the resort. They were all really good. You can really complete 75% of your shopping on the premises too. However, valet & housekeeping can take longer to respond, due to the enormous size of the complex. The nightlife at the hotel ends at 10-11pm. If you're a night-owl, you'll have to seek activities elsewhere.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 12, 2007 by

“We loved everything about our stay at the resort, beautiful public spaces, perfect for family and couples, I would go there again, but will avoid the pricey restaurants where the service does not meet expectation, getting orders wrong and missing items, we got better service at restaurants outside the resort.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jun 1, 2007 by

“Had we thought to eat only at the restaurants in the shopping area, we'd have had a better impression of the hotel. Snorkeling was better than most spots on Waikiki, but choppy. Grounds were fabulous - enjoyed the penguins, fish, flamingos, etc. and all the lovely flowers and trees (thought this was the nicest part of the hotel). Room was very nicely laid out and quite a bit larger than expected.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.May 31, 2007 by

“We were there for our honeymoon the first week of October 2006 and we loved it. The only drawback was the construction going on outside of the Rainbow was a little loud at times but compared to the overall experience that was minor. There are so many choices for shopping and eating without even leaving the village that we had to make ourselves venture outside the village to try some of the restaurants on the island. We have decided that we will only stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village when in Hawaii.” Apr 9, 2007 by
Steve from Chicago
“Just returned and would have to say overall it was a wonderful experience. Their location is top notch, our room in the Rainbow Tower had a great view of Waikiki Beach and Diamond head and the beach area at the Hotel is probably the best in Waikiki. Drawbacks are the Hotel restaurants although overall very nice, are too pricey for families but thankfully there are so many options available in Waikiki area. Parking at $20.00/day I thought was ridiculously high and can be tough to find spots to park at times. The Lagoon area, unfortunately was closed for construction during our stay and must truly add to the beauty of the grounds.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Apr 5, 2007 by

“Do not want to repeat nice thing others already said, just want to add: A few years back my 2-year old son developed an allergic reaction during the stay. We called the front desk asking for directions to the closest doctor's office. It turned out there was a doctor office with a little pharmacy on site. Very convenient. We didn't have to wait long for the doctor, and didn't have to pay more than the BCBS co-pay for the visit, plus medication. We can't wait to go back this summer and will definitely stay at the hotel, it's great for kids. Since our second son is more allergic to so many more things, we will be more prepared, but we hope the doctor's office is still around just in case.” 3 of 3 people found this review helpful.Feb 28, 2007 by

“Hotel setting is beautiful. Due to my daughter (who lives in Oahu) going into false labor the first 3 days of our stay and finally delivered on the 16th, we didn't get to utilize the grounds as we had hoped. Will definitely return, but will need more clarification on things such as the breakfast issue. They (Hilton) informed me that if I book thru you, that they do not get paid enough to include the breakfast. I know I did see on your options for booking a continental breakfast included, but they (the manager) stated you do not offer that either, it was the same price. It was frustrating as I had to pay and additional 14.95 per person for breakfast. They said if I can find it on your pricing options that they would reimburse me. Anyway, that was the only prob. All else went well.” 1 of 3 people found this review helpful.Feb 15, 2007 by

“The Hilton Hawaiian village was right on the beach and the service was excellent. The pool was great, the rooms were nice and clean, and it was in close proximity for shopping! “Only drawback - In Tapa Tower the all the hallway doors SLAM! each time someone enters or leaves a room. Very loud even down the hall. Awakened throughout the night with people coming and going on my hallway. Also thin walls. However, room itself large, attractive, great bedding and wonderful deck. Just don't plan on quiet space.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 31, 2006 by

“If u want to experience the best of Hawaii stay at the Hilton. There isn't a better hotel on the islands. The staff is wonderful, the entire place is actually a town in itself. Beautiful. I would go back just to see the penguins.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 7, 2006 by

“Hotel is outstanding. Located on one end of Waikiki Beach so it was almost like the hotel had its own large, private beach (most hotels on Waikiki are lucky to have only a very small crowded sliver of beach in front of hotel. Hotel is very well kept and everything you need is within the "Hotel Village" so you never need to leave, but if you want to explore the rest of Oahu, the hotel is centrally located. I highly recommend this hotel.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Aug 6, 2006 by

“This hotel stay was a very bad experience! While the hotel grounds were nice, they should NEVER be renting out hotel rooms just below the floor where major re-modeling is occurring. The jack hammers starting at 7:30am in the floor just above us is not acceptable in a resort property! The hotel did try to help by giving a $100 discount but they should have NEVER rented these rooms in the first place!! Hotel mgmt. stated they must rent these room to meet high demand. So, expect to hear more complaints from others in the future until hotel renovations are completed.” Jul 30, 2006 by

“Overall, we had were pleased with the hotel and room. We had to wait a while to check in, but we ended up with a lovely room with an ocean view. We were in a hurry to check in since we had a party to attend, and they offered us a hospitality suite where we could get ready. They were running about an hour behind normal check in time. We loved how convenient access was to the parking garage, but the parking garage attendant was the only bad part of the stay. When we checked in, we told the staff that we were parking a car and the woman checking us in told us the most convenient place to enter the garage since there was construction. We were able to enter the garage but when we were ready to leave for our party, the attendant told us that the parking charge was not on our room and demanded that we pay him directly. He accused us of lying about the car! Later, when we got back to the hotel, we went back to the front desk and they straightened everything out. The hotel grounds were beautiful. The pool was always very crowded and we never found a place to sit there. We ended up going to the beach and paying $25 for chairs. The beach was nice. We did not eat or drink at the hotel (except for overpriced morning coffee). There were many nice touches like juice while you're waiting to check in, the koi and penguins, and a pretty clean place. Our room was pretty big with great views. We would stay here again since the rest of the staff made up for the angry parking guy.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jul 9, 2006 by
