• Friendly staff, nice location and good room.
• The business center for using the internet was very expensive, almost a $ a minute, I can accept printouts being charged but internet at 1$ a minutes.

• The ocean front rooms had a nice view.
• The bathrooms was small and the room smelled a little musty.

“The ocean front deluxe room where pretty nice for the money, but they did have a musty old smell to them. The bathroom was kind of small and could use some new upgrades.”

• Room decor was beautiful. Bed was comfy with nice linen.
• The room had a terrible musty smell.

“We only had 1 night at this hotel, thank god! If I had to stay longer I would have asked to move. We were on the weather side, wet and windy. I realize that Hawaii is that way but none of the other places we stayed felt or smelled that damp!”

• Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.
• No sign for the hotel at the main road entrance.

“Check in staff was very friendly and knowledgeable on things to do and see. Coffee shop personnel were very cooperative and friendly. There is no sign for this hotel from the main road. Fortunately the rental car gate agent informed us the exact location. Overall an excellent value.”

• Lovely rooms and view. Clean and comfortable. Great location. Friendly and professional staff.
• Restaurant and bar hours (closed too early).

“This resort was wonderful. We took my son and his new bride there for a couple days and they went out of their way to make it a memorable time.
Close to shopping and restaurants. On-site restaurant provided great selections. Staff was friendly, helpful and professional.”

• The hotel was very charming and all the rooms look unto the Ocean.

“We went there only for an overnight till our rental home was ready. I was pleasantly surprised because the hotel exceed my expectations. I would bring my family here for a vacation too. It was very affordable, charming, clean and on the ocean.”

• A great quality experience. Location, amenities, friendliness of the staff was good.
• They placed us in a room that was right beside the nightly Luau location. Too much hassle to move once we realized it.

“Hotel is located about 10 minutes from the airport. I like the location; it is half way to the North/East coast and the South/West coast. Bathroom is a little small, but bed is very comfortable. I would recommend it.”

• It was difficult to find, not enough signage or directions on main road.

• I would like to have had the ability to print a limited number of pages for free at the business center.

“I came to the Resort quest after very unsatisfying stay in Maui. The Resort quest was a very pleasant surprise. From the time I checked in I was greeted by a very nice staff. They offered to help with my luggage and park my car. The overall appearance of the hotel was great. It was right on the beach although I never saw anyone swimming there. When I got to the room it was decorated very nicely. All of the furniture was done in dark wood. It had a desk, an over stuffed comfy chair and a very comfortable bed. Not only was shampoo and soap provided but mineral bath and Kona coffee were in the room. I was also given a coupon book for local businesses and the motel. It was great. I would bring the car up, they would park it and have it back to me within five minutes of me calling down for it. The valet staff remembered my name, a very nice was to feel comfortable. I highly recommend the Resort quest in Kapaa.”

• Nicely arranged room, beachfront, overall beautiful.
• AC unit was a bit noisy turning on in the middle of the night and if we opened the lanai doors instead, the birds were noisy (I'm a light sleeper.).

“I loved this hotel. The rooms were laid out very well with regard to furniture as well as the rooms within the grounds. We were in a garden view room, but if you turn your head side-ways on the lanai, you had an ocean view. The pool was steps from the ocean. Friday happy hour with free food. ($3 beer and $5 cocktails - yummy) Free entertainment nightly. Luau on premises was great for the ambient drum beat. (We went to a different luau but enjoyed watching the fire-dancer from the parking lot.) $12 resort fee was waived. My family loved this hotel and the pool. The room had a mini-fridge and coffeepot, but no microwave. We made our own breakfasts and there was enough space to put a few supplies and still have the small table for dining. Great place to stay if you want to enjoy the island but now eat out each meal.”

• The updated decor in the rooms.
• The moldy smell in the room and another distinctly unpleasant smell in the stairway near our room.

“We were pleasantly surprised by the Resort Quest Kauai Beach at Makaiwa. We appreciated the proximity to the ocean, the updated rooms and the overall appearance of the hotel. The room had a stuffy or moldy smell of a room that had been closed up too long. Problem was solved once we opened the patio. We did not use the hotel facilities during our short 2 day stay but the pool area was well kept and inviting. The resort fees would have been an added expense.”

“The fitness center is very minimal. I would recommend some weights or ball for sit ups. They should clean up the dead, squashed frogs lying along the parking lot and drive way. Air conditioner kept turning off unless we moved around the room rather than turning off because it reached the set desired temperature.”

• Modern, clean room, balcony good if you have a view of the ocean or the pool, clean nice looking lobby.
• You couldn't swim at the beach.

“This hotel is centrally located and has clean and comfortable rooms and a very friendly staff. It is located a quarter mile from the Coconut Market Place. You can swim in the pool and stroll along the beach, but it is too rocky to swim at the beach. There is a coffee bar (at least one cup is free) and a restaurant are in the hotel. Ample free parking is available.”

“Rooms as expected for a 3 star hotel, but room had a strong chemical smell that caused us headaches, asked for housekeeping not to us the room "neutralizing" spray and smell diminished. The bed was not comfortable.”

• Nightly luau can be noisy if your room faces it.

“The hotel has decent amenities, pool, tennis court, restaurant, bar with happy hour (come early for the puupuus), just up from the beach. This beach is not someplace one can swim or snorkel though. It is a good central location from which to base excursions, but if you have only specific things planned, such as hiking Waimea canyon trails, or lots of snorkeling, you could find lodging closer to those places. Overall, a decent value.”

• I liked the decor, loved the feather pillows, and loved the ocean view with the little balcony.
• The air conditioner was noisy, and it was hard to get the room temperature just right.

• Excellent accommodations and great location.
• There is a Luau every night from Tuesday-Sunday.

“The hotel exceeded my expectations. The location was great, near everything, beach front resort, great room, and very clean. Room service was great. The only disappointment was the Luau that was held every night, except Mondays on the hotel parking ground, which made a lot of noise, but fortunately it ended before 9 pm.”

• Pool not heated, no one to help with luggage at night.

“I would recommend this hotel very clean room with nice view of ocean and pool. I had booked the garden view room but at check in I informed them that it was our anniversary and was upgraded to a ocean view room with a complementary bottle of champagne. We were only there for three nights but we have no serious complaints . I would stay there again.”

“The hotel was adequate no complaints. There was no access to ocean swimming because the beach area at the hotel was surrounded by a large reef. This was disappointing. The hotel has a nice "Island Feel."”

• Friendly Service, nicely furnished and comfortable.
• The smell of the room. I don't know if it was from the AC. The AC never really worked right and we finally had a tech come look at it.

“It was a very nice place to stay. The decor was lovely and the bed was comfortable. The service was also very nice. The only complaint I have is the smell in the room. The AC also didn't really work very well. It finally shut down altogether and we had a tech come fix it. He showed up very quickly, which was impressive. I also thought that for a resort they definitely needed a larger hot tub.”

• Staff was very accommodating, rooms were clean.
• There was no sign to get into the entrance so you drive by without knowing the hotel is there.

“The hotel was clean, rooms were nice but very small, the hotel staff was pleasant and accommodating, my only concern was there was no signage on the road to indicate where the hotel was. I.e. we drove by it several times before figuring out it was located in the back of a large group of palm trees.”

• Charged for local calls, had to call desk to get phone turned on.

“This was the tail end of our trip so beach access wasn't our goal, getting to the airport fast was. The rooms were small but clean.”
