• Location near Times Square and theaters.
• Furniture and carpet dated and worn, high cost of food and in-room internet access.

“The room was clean and comfortable although dated and worn. The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. Food prices in hotel are very high. In-room internet connection charge is outrageously high; very inconvenient for business travelers.”

• I liked that the bathroom and shower was really big. The beds had comfortable linens.
• It just didn't feel like it had that little bit extra to be a 3 1/2 star. I thought the Renaissance was better, and that was only 3 stars.

“This hotel was just fine. So I'm not sure why I felt like that. Perhaps this hotel felt a little outdated compared to the new Renaissance.”

• The doorman was friendly.
• No mirrors in the room.

“The room was clean and the down bedding was lovely. Having double beds isn't very comfortable for a couple however, and the room didn't have any mirrors in the room. A mirror and electrical outlet would have been nice so I could do makeup and hair while my husband was in the bathroom.”

• Excellent location.
• Parking was very inconvenient and difficult to find.

“This is a lovely hotel in a great location, close to the subway, the Brooklyn Bridge and lovely views of the Hudson. However, self-parking was extremely inconvenient and difficult to get to and off-site. We drove around for the better part of thirty minutes just trying to find the parking facility, which put a damper on an otherwise flawless stay.”

• We particularly enjoyed the bar. The friendly service along with the ambiance persuaded us to have a get together there each night with friends.
• The street noise was annoying but expected.

“We like this hotel. Its homey and your made welcome.The door staff at the entrance are very good and the bar staff are excellent. This was our second visit and we would go again.”

• Very clean rooms albeit small. Attentive staff.
• Location at Time Square can be difficult to access by car during peak periods.

“Very clean rooms. Excellent staff. Check-in and check-out was easy. Checked bags took awhile to get back at the end of the day. Although centrally located on Time Square, it can be very difficult to access by car due to the car and pedestrian traffic at peak periods. Bell attendants very helpful in getting taxis.”

• For NY, the hotel room was extremely spacious and well priced.
• The hallways were small, cramped and dark..

“The room at this hotel was the biggest and most specious hotel room I have ever stayed. The kitchen was bigger than the one at my apartment! The beds were new, and living room was very spacious and the bathroom were well kept. The staff was there whenever I needed and everything exceeded my expectations.”

• Comfy bed, huge TV.
• Location only convenient to wall st. No Wi-Fi in rooms, wired internet extra.

“Clean, comfortable rooms. Good elevator service. Very nice staff. But the location isn't great unless you're there on business in the financial district. And there is no Wi-Fi available in rooms, and the wired internet, which costs $14/night, is quite slow.”

• Location and upscale amenities BOSE stereo, flat-screen TV.
• Club in penthouse could be heard from 4 floors down until 3 am and room was tiny .

“This seems mostly like a hipster clubbing hotel. It was decorated in an odd, modern/Asian style and it seemed like all the money was in the decor and not the rooms. The room was tiny, had a tiny bathroom. The shower was like those I experienced in India in which there is no wall or door, just a curtain separating it from the rest of the room. The closet also had no door. The bed was comfortable and there were nice amenities in the room including a flat-screen TV and BOSE stereo. It was also very clean and the staff was helpful and nice. The biggest problem was that the dance club on the 12th floor came pounding through the walls of our 8th floor room until 3 am on Friday night. Would recommend for young, single people who want a novelty hotel and don't care about space or noise. It's close to Times Square and party places and seems to be frequented by the night-club crowd. Would never take children there - aside from being too small some of the art was a little too close to inappropriate for me to be comfortable having kids there. I personally much more enjoyed my stay in the Holiday Inn Express 5th Avenue during my previous stay in NYC and would choose to go there again before coming to the Dream.”

• The location of this hotel was ideal for visiting midtown Manhattan.
• I don't think I've been in a hotel that was more in need of a makeover / update.

“If location and cost are your two greatest influences then this is the hotel for you. This was extremely convenient for visiting the sites of midtown Manhattan (Madison Square Garden, Empire State Building, Times Square, Rockefeller Center), and was much less expensive then almost all of the other hotels located similarly. However, the rooms are dark and very spartan, and the bathrooms are slightly cramped.”

• The internet worked well.
• I had bed bugs that bit my right arm and upper right leg.

“This hotel has a nice but tired lobby. While this seems like a 3 star, the room I received was far from it. The room was generally depressing. I had two single beds, a giant stain on the floor, wallpaper falling off the walls and worse of all, bed bugs. They put me right beside the elevator. I asked to be moved and they refused at first. Once I threatened to show other guests my arm and leg, they quickly changed their tune and got me a new room. In the end, it was the same room set-up a few floors down. I heard they have nicer rooms here but they never gave me one.”

• It was convenient to and provided a free shuttle to the airport.
• There was a strong smell of bleach in the lobby, then the room smelled musty. There was dust on the wall and stained carpet.

“The only thing positive about this hotel is the convenient location to the airport and free shuttle. The only reason to stay here is if one has a layover for a flight the next morning.”
