“The room was light and airy and clean. I liked that the room was not hot and claustrophobic feeling like some hotel rooms. The hotel was located near major sites and we walked and walked and walked fun!”

“Perfectly located hotel in the heart of London next to the London Eye and across the Thames from Big Ben, Westminster Abbey and houses of Parliament.”

“The staff was friendly and hotel was located in a nice clean area, close to parks and shopping.”

“This hotel was clean and had a comfortable bed. It was inexpensive. This was not ideal for getting into and back from Central London for the five days of my trip. (I felt like a commuter and so that made me feel like a local, I suppose.) I think Americans will expect more from a Hilton. This was little bare bones in terms of room furnishings and appointments.”

“The location of this hotel is excellent, less than 200 yards from Euston station, great for underground and rail connection as well as lots of choice for quick breakfast at the many outlets at the station. However, the rooms are extremely small. If you try to accommodate the child in your room.”

“Hotel is clean and comfortable, though a little worn out by North American hotel standards. Full bath a welcome sight. Bed not particularly comfortable. Air conditioning not very effective, but enough to take the bite off a hot day in July. Location is a bit beyond the fringe of downtown, but handy to Kensington Olympia underground station, which offers infrequent trains to Earl's court where you must change for the District or Piccadilly Lines if you are headed for London's West End, City, or tourist destinations. Just beyond comfortable walking distance to Victoria & Albert Museums. ATM at Post Office, located about 150 yards north on Kensington High Street, accepts North American debit cards and spits out British currency. Nearby pubs and restaurants offer a mix of British and international foods. Breakfast at the hotel is extra, and it is priced for the business traveler on an expense account, not for tourists. Internet modem in room, but we did not use. Hotel offers use of internet terminals in lobby and adjacent cafe for outrageous price of 3 GBP for 15 minutes. Also at nearby Kensington Olympia station, one can catch an hourly British Rail train to/from Gatwick Airport (14 GBP each way), only 40 minutes travel time. Cheaper, quicker, and more convenient than taking the tube to Victoria for the Gatwick Express. To sum up: Adequate room. Pricey extras. Not a particularly convenient location for downtown connections, but very handy to Gatwick.”

“A typical business hotel located 10 - 15 minute tube ride outside of central London. Rooms were on the small side but adequate. Clean with comfortable beds. The staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions.”

“The hotel is a 5 minute walk to 2 tube stations. While it could use some updating, it is clean and more than serviceable - a solid 3* hotel.”

“Rooms were not ready at 8:00 pm. Very rude staff. Very old and tiny facilities. Rooms were very small. Housekeeping was very poor. Response to any requests were never met. I will go out of my way to let my friends know never to stay at this hotel. This is a motel 6 pretending to be a four star hotel. How did you rate this hotel 4 star?”

“Excellent location in South Kensington, very close to Gloucester Rd Tube. Infect it is much closer than the maps would suggest. Small, but well laid out rooms. Excellent staff that was very helpful in accommodating our needs. Couple of restaurants in the hotel as well as a Starbucks. Many restaurant choices within walking distance. Good place to live if you do not intend to drive in London.”

“It's nice if they can get their service up to 4 star standards (speed and efficiency). The check in area is a bit bizarre in its location - very unconventional. But overall it was modern, rooms nicely appointed and great location.”

“Very pleased with all things related to this hotel. Convenient to get to and a beautiful area of London. The Westminster Abby, the Tate Modern Gallery, the Eye, London aquarium and many other attractions are right there including a nice boardwalk along the river. It was close to the Waterloo Subway with connections at Victoria station to the Gatwick Express train to the airport. Was very happy with this as did not want to hire a car. A great way to spend three days in London.”

“The location is great, but I had problems here. Sheets had to be replaced because they had blood on them when I checked in. AC did not work properly. TV never worked.”

“Even though I checked with the hotel in advance and was told it was close to a tube station, the tube station had been out of service since the first of the year. I had asked for connecting rooms due to our children but ended up with rooms on same floor but quite a distance apart. Air conditioning and phone did not work properly in one room and the movie service was not operational all three nights. Did have a discussion with the manager and for the last two nights they moved us to connecting rooms on a nicer floor. The staff was very helpful, however overall the hotel is not in what I call Hilton condition. Our first rooms were on 5th floor, pretty rough shape overall. Cracks in ceiling, carpet frayed, noisy AC fan, some AC outlets did not work, etc. Then they moved us to 4th floor which was in much better, but still many items needing correction.”

“I was happy with my stay at this hotel. We were given a beautiful and comfortable room, and received great service throughout our stay. The hotel is very conveniently located near the underground; it only takes about 5-10 minutes on the train to get to Central London. The surrounding neighborhood is fine and not too busy, perfect to return to after touring around.”

“I would not stay here again. While the amenities and public areas were very nice. The rooms were very dated. I stayed on a non-smoking floor but it smelled as though I was the only non smoking room on the floor. There was duct tape holding carpet down in the hallway between the elevator and my room. The desk, TV and other furnishings in the room had to be 30 years old and were not maintained at all. The hairdryer was full of dust, etc. Definitely not a 4 star hotel.”

“Were told by Crowne Plaza that there was a free shuttle to Heathrow, but instead it cost $8 per person each way. The hotel itself was great. It was clean, comfortable and nice. Would recommend it.”

“This hotel is in a university district, so there are lots of students. It is a short walk to the S. Kensington Metro station. It has a residence feel more than a fancy hotel feel. The employees were all very helpful.”

“The hotel was very nice for the price. I'm used to American hotels where you always get double beds. My daughter and I each had a twin but it was fine. The area was upscale, the room was comfortable and had fridge but no clock.”

“At first glance I was quite disappointed that our hotel had a very worn out look and feel, but the location (close to tube station), the cleanliness of the property and the polite efficiency of the staff made up for the slightly run-down look and feel of this faded property.”

“Was quite far from the city. It took almost an hour to get to the city on the tube from there. Not a lot of restaurants close by.”

“We stayed at this hotel for the first 3 nights of our Honeymoon and ended up booking it again after going to Greece for the last night on our way home. The staff made every effort to ensure our stay was outstanding and it was. It was in a fantastic area of London and a short walk to a quieter stop on the Tube System. Would go back and stay there any time I visit London.”

“The Copthorne is a good hotel overall. The rooms are clean but non-descript. There's nothing too overly romantic about it, but it gets the job done. The lobby is nice because there is an ATM machine, a bar, a couple restaurants, and a side cafe. The location is ok, about a five minute walk from Kensington tube station but hard to find when you first arrive. I would recommend.”

“It is a long story, but the hotels actions caused me to be stranded in London with no place to stay and miss my unchangeable flight back to the us. They have been very corporate and unhelpful as I have tried to get compensation for my trouble. It was a dangerous situation and I will probably have to sue them. And I am not normally a litigious person.”

“I did not arrive until after dark, and felt uncomfortable walking with my bags from the Underground. Also, the lack of air conditioning in the room was a very big surprise. One would expect that from a three star hotel. In addition, the business center was shut down and there was no time line for repairs on the computer. However, the staff were quite helpful and friendly. The room was also very spacious.”

“This was a good solid hotel, that was clean, reasonably comfortable, and offered everything I needed on a business trip. Wireless access here was through a public hotspot, so it was rather expensive for the entire stay. Breakfast was not included, but they did offer guests a 5 pound voucher for breakfast at the hotel. Overall not a bad place to stay for a few days in London on business.”

“Did not enjoy my stay. Location was quite good, but the room was so small there was barely no room once my spouse and I were in the room along with our luggage. Bathroom was also tiny, but the shower had lots of hot water and pressure. We were there in early June and the room was very hot. Fan broken. Alarm clock broken. Toilet didn't flush all the time - you had to jimmy it a lot. Free newspapers.”

“Rooms were small, bathroom was nice, but the shower was small. Limited television stations, but who watches television on vacation anyway! The location was fantastic - across the road from the tube station. General area around the hotel was nice as well.”

“Rooms are old and evidence of dirty linens and mold in the bathroom. Not sure how this hotel could've received four stars. I've stayed in 2 star hotels that were better than this. Absolutely horrible.”

“This hotel is convenient if you are frequent traveler to London, UK and seeking for a good hotel in a cheaper price in Heathrow area. However you might have knowledge of the public transportation as well as a neiborghhood area if you satisfy this hotel.”

“Located across from Big Ben in a historic building, this hotel felt dark and confining. Rooms are as far from the elevator as 1/8 mile of long circuitous corridors. View windows on the Thames were so high one could not fully enjoy the scene. The concierge was often engaged in conversation with other hotel employees and the night concierge was of no help at all. Reception personnel were helpful but somewhat snooty. Our final bill was all wrong, with charges we didn't make and the charges we did make were not on it. Construction made it necessary to enter through a back way that was dark, dreary and, frankly, scary. I would not stay there again nor would I recommend it to anyone.”

“A really nice surprise. The Holiday Inn Regents Park was really well located, near the Great Portland Street tube stop and Regent's Park as well as a fun and easy walk to Bloomsbury, the West End, and Marlybourne. On first sight, the hotel looks like a post-war reject, but the interior spaces were nicely appointed, easy on the eyes, and quite comfortable. The room was certainly big enough for two, the bed more than comfortable, and the in-room amenities more than adequate. The staff was great - friendly, accommodating, and efficient. My only complaints were the (at one point) pair of non-functioning elevators and the rather large construction project outside my window. Overall, a really pleasant surprise and a great place to stay.”

“This was an excellent hotel. The area around the hotel has numerous restaurants, shops, grocery and drug stores, etc. There is good access to other London locations via bus, and also by subway. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.”
