“The hotel room does not look like that of a 4 star hotel. It was fine with me since I spent most time attending a conference. The location was nice, and the staff were very helpful.”

“The hotel was a good value for the price. The lobby and public areas are very upscale, but the rooms were not. The room and bathroom were quite small.”

“A pleasant hotel with a good hotel bar and pub food. Reception staff was not friendly. Hotel room good with nice bathroom. As aged pensioners we wheeled our luggage from the designated nearest tube station, Osterley. But the stated 10 minute walk on took us over 30 minutes on a warm evening and there should be an earl which is claimed to be a good bedroom, excellent bathroom, hearty pub food at a fair price but unfriendly reception staff. Main query is how Osterley is stated as nearest tube station with a 10 minute walk. As seniors it took us. walking fast over 30 minutes with heavy luggage to reach the hotel. On a warm evening. the staff recommended Hounslow.”

“Express by Holiday Inn Southwark London is a solid comfortable overnight stay on the south bank of the Thames in central London. Our room was small, but well designed and well appointed. I got a good nights sleep before my flight back to LA. If this hotel is available for the same exceptionally low price next time I'm in London, I will seriously consider spending my entire stay there.”

Copthorne Tara Hotel London Kensington “The hotel does a lot of trade in bus tours and the like, it is not service oriented and almost everything is offered as an extra-fee service, from the exercise room and on.”

“This hotel was in a great location, literally around the corner from a tube and bus stop. Nice part of town, very easy to walk around at night and feel safe. The staff was great, helpful with organizing everything that we needed. I'd certainly stay again.”

“This hotel has a perfect location. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was nice and quiet. The TV was out dated. The bed sheets were a bit rough. The towels had a strange unpleasant smell as well as being rough and too small. The hotel soap was not to my liking it was filmy and had a weird smell. Besides that the soap squares seemed to evaporate. The king bed had individual blankets that were warm and comfortable, I had never seen that in a hotel before, not bad. The AC was okay but not very powerful.”

“Located in the Kensington area of London and a few minutes walk from the Gloucester tube station (Piccadilly and Circle lines) the NH Harrington Hall is great place to stay on your vacation. The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. The neighboring area has public transport, restaurants, pubs, just about anything a traveller might need.”

“From the beginning of the visit, we found the staff to be very helpful. Within minutes of checking-in the desk manager, responding to a personal request I had upgraded our room, and that seemed to set the pace for the rest of our stay. The cleaning crew was amazingly responsive and efficient and we had next to zero problems. I was surprised that they did not offer free WIFI, but that was a minor inconvenience. All in all it was a terrific place to stay, but expensive without Priceline.”

“This hotel was a nice place to rest our heads. We had two twin beds that we pushed together. The maid service did a nice job cleaning the room.”

“Nice hotel, great staff, amazing location. Easy to get around, the tube was only 2 blocks away. I had good experiences with the front desk. I liked the customer service. Overall, I liked the hotel and would stay there again. I just thought it was more of a 3 star because of the dated rooms.”

“Nice and comfortable hotel. Room size was decent for European standards. Small TV but not really in London to watch TV so that made no difference to me. Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel.”

“This was a tourist hotel. Request a room facing the front which were quieter. The ones on the back side had train noise from the tube trains running above ground. The bathrooms had old fixtures that required you to use two spigots, a hot & a cold that must be mixed together in the sink for warm water. The tub was very tall and might be difficult to enter if you are older or have mobility issues. It was very difficult to plug in your own hairdryer from the US (with the large safety plugs)The outlets were too close to the floor and hard to access. The staff was very accommodating and quick to respond to requests.”

“Good, clean (except fridge), centrally located hotel. Nice open lobby area. Rooms not a bad size for central London. Pretty good showers for London, too. Overall, good value for money.”

“4 star for a Hilton chain hotel is too high although it matches standard used for British style hotel at this star. My room seem to have been renovated, and I actually enjoyed the modern decoration.”

“I would stay away from this hotel. I am a frequent business traveler to London. This hotel is quite far 10 -15 minutes walk from the tube and that would be worth it if it had any redeeming qualities whatsoever. The lobby is fine but it has shabby hallways with threadbare carpeting, tiny dilapidated rooms and an unhealthy dose of unfriendly staff. There are much better options available.”

“The room was dirty: extremely outdated, dirty carpet, extremely uncomfortable bed and pillows. They charge 10 pounds per 24 hours for the internet. Windows were so dirty that you could hardly see the trains as they passed by making constant noise. Other than location, I cannot say much good about the Tara.”

“Unfriendly and uncooperative staff, small room that resembled a 2 star motel rather than a 4 star hotel. The Marriott (200 yards away) was a much better hotel, and much friendlier staff.”

“Loved this hotel. Conveniently located, not in city center but very accessible by bus or underground (station two minute-walk away). There are few places to eat breakfast close by and the restaurant is pretty expensive.”

“Our hotel was extremely friendly and helpful with an older charm to greet you outside yet modern when inside. Everyone was very willing to help in any way and loved hearing their true English accent since we're from North America.”

“The apartment in which we stayed was not even basically clean. It was non vacuumed, used towels were hanging from a clothes rod and the kitchen contained dirty dishes and crumbs. In fact, the oldest and dirtiest looking scrubber, left in the sink, prompted me to go out and buy a new sponge (which I donated to the hotel) and re-scrub the kitchen sink, counters and dishes. The lobby area was cluttered and disheveled, containing a rack with a computer parts, bags of cleaning supplies and toilet paper and a large Tasmanian devil stuffed animal (which more frequently than not in our seven-day stay was placed behind the front desk in the absence of the manager). There was also a rack of severely outdated brochures in the foyer some dating back to 2005. We even saw a mouse in the lobby one night. The said lack of manager was especially disgusting, as keys began to pile up on the desk for days as people (I assume) checked out. To me, this raises the risk of someone who gains access to the foyer once being able to access the apartments. Totally unacceptable and unsafe for fellow guests. The cleanliness of the upholstery and curtains in our apartment was disgraceful, and the hodge-podge selection of furniture was tasteless. There was a persistent ticking from the closet in our bedroom (may be a water heater) and the sound of dripping water (but it could have been a nibbling mouse out of sight) from the bathroom. In all, its most impressive attribute is its location, but that cannot be factored based on safety, cleanliness, service and other elements crucial to a relaxing stay. Just in case you think I am an untraveled, and picky, let me assure you, I am not. I have stayed in hotels ranging from a simple one-star across from the teeming Red cross hospital in Bombay to the Hotel Metro Pole in Moscow. I have stayed at some really gnarly and some really nice hotels, hostels, B & B's and residences. I understand the differences between expectations of American, European and Asian hotels. The Kensington Park Apartments should be a one-star.”

“The Tara-Copthorne Kensington is in a very convenient location. Not an awful hotel but definitely not 4-stars. Lobby is very tasteful. Rooms are standard size for London, I've seen smaller. Furniture is out of date and not in very good condition. Our bathroom was clean except for the floor which was covered in previous occupants hair. Our room happened to be on the side above the rail tracks so it was very loud at night.”

“Overall the hotel is nice. I'm not sure if the star rating operates differently in the states, but I've been to nicer four star hotels before. The staff here was awful, they were rude and one receptionist was so mean to me he brought me to tears. I would love to visit London again, but I will not stay in this hotel. If you plan to travel for business purposes this might suit you well.”

“Great location in the heart of Mayfair in the center of London. Good for business traveler - not very romantic or family-friendly. Hotel is of a certain age, and unfortunately has not been refurbished for a while. Room is of a good size for London though. Would recommend it for business travelers, or tourists.”
