“Straight-forward, clean, nice accommodations, near the Camden Lock, Camden Market, and a Tube stop. Nicer than I expected from a Holiday Inn.”

“The lobby is small and ordinary, but the staff is efficient and friendly. The room was average size. No views. Good condition and clean. Excellent location for access to shopping and transport to other parts of town.”

“Towels are no better than at a budget, 2* hotel. Restaurant now closed except for breakfast, the price of which (despite recession) has gone up from $28 to nearly $30. There's no concierge, no bellman and beds are very Travelodge. Bare utilitarian bedrooms. Difficult to adjust AC and water flow in bath/shower as latter's knob is almost unmovable. Don't pretend to us this is four star, please!”

“The hotel forgot my wake up call! Never mind that they represented themselves as a 4 star (maybe 20 years ago it was), but now it is at best a 2 star, but any flea bitten motel even makes wake up calls! This one didn't and they didn't even apologize for it. The hallways smelled like turpentine and the bathroom in my room smelled like mold. They covered the bathroom walls with plastic panels to make it look new, but it was very plain to see and smell that it wasn't very fresh or clean!”

“It was located at a lovely location, 5 minutes walk to the nearest subway and Hyde Park. The staff was very helpful, cost was brilliant and I definitely recommend this place. I was there for a conference and sight seeing. Being a student, needed a comfortable and affordable place. This place was the exact match I was looking for. They also helped me keep my luggage for the day I was not paying for! The hotel may seem very tight but that is what they could build out of the small houses in London. A double room was more than sufficient.”

“The lobby and restaurants are nicely maintained, they forgot about the rooms. The bathroom had obviously been flooded, but rather than fix the problem they covered up the moldy walls with paneling - but I could very plainly still smell the mold in the room! One night we ran out of toilet paper and the staff didn't seem to think that it was a problem! How hard is it to see that the roll is running out and leave an extra roll in the bathroom? An investigation into why I ran out of toilet paper does not help the situation!”

“This hotel was a great quality hotel (especially for Europe). It was clean and very conveniently located. It was just off the tube and near bus lines to almost every tourist attraction.”

“I would definitely stay in this hotel again if I got a good deal on Priceline. It was very close to public transport (subway and buses) and there were many restaurants and shops around. The room was clean and comfortable. However, the ac didn't work while I was there. It wasn't hot but after I was through lugging my things from the tube station to the hotel, I was looking forward to cranking up the AC. Also the cold water tap was broken and even if turned all the way on, it would only drip. They offered to move me to another room for the next night but since I only stayed two days, I didn't think it was worth switching.”

“When in a busy town like London, it is really great to be able to come to a quiet place after a day in the rush. If only they could do sth about the ticking noise that came out of the airco (5th floor room). It woke us up teh first night; We swtched it off but then it got realy hot in the rooms. (weather was exceptionally hot when we were there).”

“Good location in an upscale area. Lobby and common areas are attractive. The restaurants and bars are good. The convenience store in the lobby is handy. The cab stand at the end of the driveway is very useful. The theater tickets desk is another handy perk. The actual guest rooms need updating. The bathrooms are really out of date and somewhat moldy. The beds themselves are small i.e. a double or two singles per room. The mattresses are saggy and lumpy and the pillows are virtually flat. The common areas are 4*, the guest rooms are 2*.”

“Hotel is in desperate need for a rehash. The old plumbing fixtures in the bathroom are scary. I haven't seen separate hot and cold taps in years. The sink was gurgling. When someone next door turned on their water, our tub started to spurt something black. We would never stay at this hotel again.”

“This is not a 5 star hotel, and not suitable for the business traveler. Its location is convenient to the theater district, and is suitable for those needing a room for the night. Rooms are small, closets small. Internet connection an extra 19 British Pounds a night. The bar/lounge is positioned as a club, and only opened at 7 PM. Terrible service - no bartender at the bar; waitress went to kitchen bar service for drinks and it took forever. Loud industrial disco music - attempt to be trendy, but just annoying. Maybe okay for the 20 year olds, but to experienced travelers a joke. I would not stay here again, and would not recommend it.”

“The location was great, close to tube station and grocery store. Lovely neighborhoods to explore. Hotel is a bit worn, smelly hallways and dirty carpet. Excellent breakfast with meats, eggs, beans, juice, bread and a variety of hot drinks. Staff was very helpful. Phone line in room did not work so wasn't able to schedule a wake up call. Linen on the bed very nice and bed was comfortable. Price was reasonable but it wasn't a three star hotel.”

“It was a nice hotel and the staff was friendly. They didn't have a room ready when we arrived at 1pm and at that out of all the rooms didn't have one with anything bigger than one queen bed. However, 3 hours later they had our room ready and held our bags for us while we waited. It was a nice, clean room.”

“The staff was friendly and helpful from check-in through check-out. The room was small by US standards, but plenty big enough for 3 adults (we requested a roll-away bed, rather than use the sleeper sofa). The AC was great - we could adjust the temperature of the room easily and everyone was very comfortable.”

“Charing Cross has very attractive public areas, and comfortable, quiet rooms. Hot water was unreliable, and 2 out of 5 days we had luke warm to cool showers. Housekeeper was asked daily for extra towels, soap, etc. Toilet paper roll was left completely empty one day, there was a lack of attention to detail one would expect at a 4 star hotel. The location was absolutely perfect to walk almost every where on our arts and theater oriented trip.”
