“Great hotel for the gas lamp district. The bathroom made it difficult for more than one person in the room. Only one sink and a very small area.”

“I would definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic getaway, the lounge/bar on the 4th floor was very cozy and relaxing!”

“Clean, attractively appointed, centrally located, but parking fee was more than expected.”

“We will absolutely stay at the Solamar again; for a week long vacation instead of just a weekend. Though the hotel restaurant was overpriced and there were no microwaves in the room, the rooms were very clean, modern and comfortable. The staff assisted us with a sincere and positive attitude-this is the reason we will return.”

“Older hotel, quaint. Liked it much better than the Hilton in the same area. The difference is the people. They would try to do anything for you.”

“I'll return to this hotel anytime I'm in San Diego. The overall stay was above average. I can't say enough good things about the staff! The outdoor lounge is fun for a cocktail or two, but a bit pricey.”

“The hotel is lovely, beautiful accommodations in every way. Staff were friendly and mostly helpful. We were glad we didn't have a car, as the cost per night is $32 for hotel guests. And on the second night of our stay, we discovered to our great disappointment that the people in the immediately adjacent room were there for a bachelor party - and party they did, very loudly, until well past 2:00 in the morning. As we had to get up at 5:30 that morning for our daughter's college graduation, we got very little sleep. The hotel staff apologized for the noise, but did nothing to minimize it.”

“Hotel Solamar is a beautiful artistic hotel very close to the restaurants, shops, and bars of the Gaslamp Quarter. Between the attractions of the rooftop bar and pool and the complimentary wine hour, you will find this hotel more than just a room - it is most certainly an enjoyable experience.”

“This was a beautiful hotel in a great location with easy access to lots that San Diego has to offer. It would have been perfect except the beds are extremely uncomfortable. We were allowed to check out other rooms but all the beds were the same with absolutely no support. Too bad because otherwise this is a very nice place. Only other complaint is cost of on site parking $32 per day seems excessive.”

“Really a great hotel. Everything you would expect from a 4 star hotel. A bit like a W but less edgy and more family friendly (my kids were hoola-hooping in the lobby). A great location in downtown San Diego with quiet and spacious rooms. The staff also went out of the way to anticipate and meet our needs. I would recommend it.”

“Excellent choice for business travelers. Hotel is very clean and tastefully decorated. Staff are attentive and courteous. Location is extremely handy as it is very near Pet co Park and access to major freeways is and attractions is convenient.”

“This is a nice, comfortable hotel in a good location. There are no coffee makers in the room or refrigerators (except honor bar). The staff was friendly. I cannot believe they charge so much for parking for paying guests. The rooms are quite small, but would stay again.”

“We've stayed at several Kimpton properties, and they have all been fantastic experiences. They have high-end decor and finish out, and the staff is always first rate. They also offer free happy hours every day. Definitely our favorite chain of small luxury hotels.”

“This hotel was fabulous! Swanky without being pretentious. And the staff was amazing. This ranks as one of our top places to go ever and we will definitely be back.”

“I love Kimpton hotels for a variety of reasons: style, staff, locations, amenities. The Solomar was consistent with other Kimpton hotels and I would recommend it to anyone seeking a stylish and modern style hotel. The staff was great, also consistent with my other Kimpton experiences.” Hotel Representatives:
