“Bed was OK, bathroom was clean and it appears to be clean. But I found 2 small cockroaches and 1 cricket! The hallways were very warm, it appears the AC was not working properly; but the AC in the room was working well. Bring your receipt with you in case they want to charge you more than you already paid (which was my case!) Area was not so safe, so park your car in the 2nd level (it's closer to the lobby). Anyways, you make your own conclusion.”

“This is an older hotel in Victorian decor. It was modernized and is bright and very attractive inside. The room was large and there was an adequate bathroom and two queen sized beds. It had lovely wallpaper and old Victorian furniture. I had a room facing the back, away from the street, and it was quiet for sleeping. I was distressed in that my white socks became very dirty walking on the carpet. The hotel provided parking for my car at $12.00 per night when I went on my cruise, and charged $5.00 per person for the shuttle to the pier.”

“I have stayed at this same hotel 3 years ago and apparently they are under new management. Staff were not there to assist or accommodate any guests. My impression from the moment that I walked into the lobby was "fend for yourself". We even had to scavenge towels from the non working gym room since the maid would not allow us more than 3 bath towels (no pool towels at all).”

“I spend on average 5,000 plus per year on hotel accommodations - I would not ever spend another dime in this establishment.”

“This hotel was fine. It was very close to the end of the 210 freeway, which made it convenient to all LA area attractions, and there was a great donut/espresso shop right across the street. However, do not go into the hotel restaurant! The waitress was so bad we thought we must be on a hidden camera show. She only had 3 tables but was completely overwhelmed. When I asked for a glass of chardonnay she said, "I don't know how to make that and the bartender only works on Saturdays. "When I asked for horseradish, she said she didn't know what that was. When I told her it was a condiment for the prime rib she brought me steak sauce saying, "This is all we have."”

“Traveling from the UK it was so lovely to find a gem of a hotel, so close to the cruise centre. It had been thoughtfully renovated to give the old-fashioned look, carefully chosen furniture, it was very spacious and so comfortable. Meals were good and the whole place suited our needs and staff were very helpful. Thank you.”

“While fine for an overnight stay I would not want to spend several days there. The neighborhood was not good and the food was not good.”

“The front desk personal was not very friendly; it was business as usual type of attitude. When calling front desk they never answer phone I had to go down stairs to get help twice and the one time they did answer phone & we advised them that housekeeping forgot to leave clean towels it took us 3 additional calls before we rec'd them. Also the day of check out we requested last check out (1hr.) They approve it but 30 mins. Later front desk called us & told us that we were late checking out. Check out is 12pm we asked to leave by 1pm. This hotel needs to train their front desk employees better customer skills & come up with a better system in providing guest better service.”

“We enjoyed our stay at this hotel even though there were some problems. We had two rooms, but they don't have adjoining rooms for larger families. Thankfully, our rooms were at least very close to each other. I like the key entry to our floor (more secure). The pool and Jacuzzi both needed work. The gym could use an elliptical machine. The decorations were very eclectic (bedspreads didn't go with the wallpaper and/or curtains). The beds were not that great, but the rooms were kept very clean. Also, the hotel was not that busy when we went so there was plenty of parking.”

“Spa was colder than pool, lots of hair in drains, no towels upon arrival, crusty stuff on showerhead, noisy above our room, beds/pillows not very comfortable, not very dark in room. Ice machine broken, shower stopper broken so you could not take a bath without shoving a washcloth in the hole to stop the water from going down. The staff was extremely friendly and polite. The breakfast for the kids were free and the breakfast skillet was excellent!”

“There are not many choices of hotels in the San Pedro area. I live in San Pedro and needed a place for a few nights while I closed escrow on a new house. The room was very big, clean, and quiet. The hotel staff could be a little friendlier.”

“I'm sure back in 1980, this hotel was very nice. However, it is 2007 and this place needs to be updated badly. The lobby area was not welcoming, the room was spacious. However, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, and I disliked that there was no mattress cover on the bed. The television reception was poor. We purchased an additional night's stay and the requested to be in the same room, when the housekeepers came by the room to clean, they tried to kick us out! The housekeepers ended up calling to the front desk to verify that we were okay to be in our room. Honestly, I would have fathered stayed at a Comfort Inn.”

“This was a nice place to stay for a low price. The hotel was clean and the security was excellent. The neighborhood wasn't the greatest at night but there was no need to go outside the hotel because everything was right there for you.”

“This hotel is described in one word funky. The inside is surprisingly decorated in medieval old English. Not something you would expect from the exterior. Despite its interesting boutique, sadly, it does show its share of wear and tear, and has definitely seen better days. The location is not very desirable.”

“The hotel is comfy in a charming shabby-chic way. Its location is not particularly scenic, but it's terrifically accessible and convenient. Not a lot of staff (at desk or in restaurant), but room was spotless and maids were very helpful. I'd definitely stay here again, but would avoid the restaurant, except for breakfast.”
