  • Beautiful setting, 1st class restaurant.

“Quaint, great atmosphere, Austrian feel, no air conditioner in certain rooms, great restaurant, great view of the mountains, close to ski areas.”

  • The location was beautiful.
  • No A/C in the room

“The room was a nice size and well decorated. It did not have air conditioning. It would have been a problem if it was a little hotter, but the fan and windows were enough to keep it comfortable. They have Free Wireless Internet in the rooms. My biggest gripe was the construction. There were trucks and work that started a little after 7:00 AM. It would be nice if they started later.”

  • The views are spectular
  • Noisy, small rooms, needs update and too commercialized

“I was disappointed in the room - it was much smaller than I expected. I found it to be extremely noisy as it is a wood building so you constantly hear doors being slammed and the bathroom fans running. Also, we were right on top of the dining room so you heard the entertainment each night. The balcony is also shared, which I did not like. Every thing seems to have a price at the lodge, it was too commercialized and I did not like that. I also did not find it appealing to couples as there were so many kids around. The room is also in need of update - the wallpaper in our bathroom was peeling. The $12 daily resort fee is also a huge rip off - if I'm paying regular price, why charge this ridiculous amount. Overall, while I loved the location, there was a sense that Johannes Von Trapp is just trying to wring as much money out of tourists as possible. I will not be staying here again.”

  • It is much more than just a hotel...music, activities, etc.
  • Nothing!

“We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Trapp Family Lodge. I've already recommended it to friends.”

  • Glorious scenery, cool, fresh air, friendly staff
  • only that I couldn't stay longer

“We had a wonderful three days at the Lodge. Everyone was so nice and friendly, too. We had two adjoining rooms with large comfy beds, sofas and nice bathrooms- views from the room to the mountains were awesome- seeing the mist on the moutains in the morning! I am sorry but I do not understand complaints about TV size or what programs are available - that seems really unimportant in such a place-the TVs were nicely hidden in armoires. As to location- well, it isn't right in Stowe but that is the good part to me- up high with the mountains around and so much land for walking. We ate the continental breakfast one morning- really lovely with european style meats and cheeses, many fresh and dried fruits, cereals, fresh baked goods. It is $13 a person plus tip and tax-so it was a treat for one day. We also had tea(with fresh baked cookies-not the usual sort) one day and were lucky enough for the resident chipmunk to run in one door and out toward his home. I will definitely go back if we can get the same or similar prices.”

  • incredible views, great facility, beautiful rooms, huge bed, extremely nice staff
  • couldn't find the scottish highland cows(but I didn't ask)

“This is a beautiful place in a beautiful location. Waking up to see the mist on the mountains and to see the sunset here is incredible. The air was incredibly fresh and cool- not like summer here in Maryland. Everyone was so nice- and friendly too, The continental breakfast is very, very nice, leisurely and filling- an expensive treat for us- but then hardly anything is inexpensive in Stowe. We had two lovely adjoining rooms- one with a huge king size bed and one with two doubles- great pillows and duvets and a sofa next to the windows. There is a very nice afternoon tea with fresh baked cookies and if you are lucky, the resident chipmunk will run through and back while you are sipping your tea. There are activities- pools, a fitness center, walks, movies but sitting outside surrounded by the mountains or in the library or family room with a book was enough for me. ”

  • I liked the location it was beautiful . You were up in the Mts. They had a great family activties director. The whole family loved her .
  • We had breakfast in the main dining room. The food was cold and if was expensive, for what they offered. There were not alot of choices for the kids.

“The whole family loved our stay!! It would have been nice to know that we could get a room with no AC. Which we did, our son has asthma and he somtimes has trouble breathing especially in heat. That added a little stress. Most 4 star resorts have ac . Some of there rms have it but not all. The grounds and all the family activites were great.... Campfires , family fishing, shows in the meadows. Great memories!!!! The resturants were not kid friendly. Tea and cookies in the afternoon was a favorite. Otherwise we had to go out to eat. Overall a great vacation and a beautiful resort. We would love to go back.”

  • The amenity of the hotel, you don't have to go out for fun.
  • The resort fee should be told up front.

“Overall, it's a great hotel at a great location, good for the gateway vacation.”

  • Loaded with history and very relaxing!
  • Meals were very expensive but good.

“The Trapp Family Lodge is one of the most relaxing, history filled experiences you will ever have. Beautiful surroundings inspired by the native Austria where the Von Trapp Family singers came from. Fresh flowers are everywhere raised at their own greenhouses seemed to fill the beautiful halls. Plan to spend time just wandering the hallways to look at the pictures and read the captions. Here, the history of the "Sound of Music" comes to life. A MUST visit!”

  • The view was great, nice room decor
  • The resort fee added to the bill, I wasn't aware that there could be additional charges.

“The Trapp Family Lodge is in the hills above Stowe Vermont, very impressive when you arrive. nice grounds, lovely lobby with fresh grown flower arragements. Meals a bit pricy, however, very nice buffet for breakfast, although the don't open till 7:00 am. We were working, and needed to get going early, so we never got to use our "resort Fee" ammenities.”

  • They were prepared for our arrival. Check in was expedient. The setting was beautiful.
  • Worn furniture and carpeting.

“The hotel is situated in the picturesque mountains of Stowe Vermont. The setting is quite beautiful. The rooms are quaint with European decorations and ambiance. However, there is noticable wear and tear in the rooms and on some of the furniture. Overall, the setting was exceptional and the room was nice.”

  • Many xtra charges for services that normaly are included in other lodgings

“My wife and I were very pleased with the price for the lodging and the room was clean, however it was located on the top floor and was not one that was shown on the hotel website.Room service was not available and drinks and food were very expensive. At the end of our one night stay as we checked out I was presented with a $12.00 bill for " RESORT FEES" which I did not expect.other charges on my own.”

  • We loved everything. Our comfortable room. The pool. The beautiful views and the flower gardens. The piano player in the lounge.Very relaxing.
  • The only thing would be the $12.00 per day resort fee.We were not told of this when we checked in.But for the price we paid we didn't mind.

“We enjoyed this hotel very much. In fact it doesn't feel like a hotel. It is very homey.Lots of pictures of the Von Trapp Family throughout the Lodge.Lots of common areas to sit and watch tv or play cards. Our room was very clean. It had ac which was welcoming, since it was so hot during our visit. Children loved it very much.Activites for the kids.Nice indoor and outdoor pool. There are cows grazing in a field down the road. Beautiful setting in the mountains.Hope to get to visit again.”

  • It is a beautiful place. Unfortunately, I arrived late and had to leave the next day.
  • The walls are too thin. The doors slam loudly at night.

“This hotel, founded by "Sound of Music" Singing von Trapps after they ended their concert career, is Tyrolean peace and quiet in the Green Mountains. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms well-appointed, the beds comfortable. On the downside, the buildings are older so some modern amenities, such as air conditioning in the guest rooms and privacy between them, do not exist. All in all, though, the staff are courteous and eager to please, there are many activities available and the dining area looks gorgeous. Can't comment on the food since we arrived late and rose after breakfast was finished.”

  • This hotel is FUN. It is in a beautiful setting. Its ambience is pure wholesomeness (but some of us like that)

“The hotel has lots and lots of "Sound of Music" artifacts and paraphernalia. [Some would hate this.] I liked it. And the place DOES feel like Austria.”
