• Pool was big and opened late.
• Waiting to eat at Denny's and small bathroom.

“I liked the location of hotel. They were very friendly too. The Dennys Restaurant was very disappointing, we waited over an hour just for breakfast, it was awful, and the kids were fussy. They didn't knock off anything for the wait. Wont eat there again just bring own food or go down road to another restaurant. The bathroom was very small. It was hard to bath the kids, hardly any room at all for more than one person. We will stay again hopefully; bathroom will be bigger in the oversized room. The amenities are very nice tennis, pool, etc until midnight that is very nice never had all that offered before and that late at night.”

• Staff was friendly, but not attentive.
• Dirty windows, broken locks, tub drain did not work, floor was filthy.

“The hotel lobby was the nicest part of this hotel, the outside was unattractive, door locks for security were broken, carpets were spotted and dirty in the room, the bedspreads had spots and the bathroom bath did not drain. The beds were very hard, and it caused shoulder pain to lay on your side. The TV worked, but that is about all.”

• It was right next to Kings Dominion with an attached Denny's. It was cheap.
• I could not get help with my bags even though I was sick and really needed help. There was no elevator.

“The hotel was conveniently located right next to Kings Dominion. The room was clean with basic facilities. There was wireless internet access included with the room. It was a good place to stay one night so that we could get to the park early in the morning.”

• Price for the age.

“If you are not looking for anything fancy then this is the hotel. The staff & cleanliness were good but you can surely see the age on the hotel.”

• It was great, the staff immediately helped with anything needed.
• No fridge or micro in room.

• The staff is so slow checking people in.

“I like the location because if is so close to Kings Dominon. I can walk to the amusement park from the hotel. The bathroom is so small. It could use refurbishing. I stay there once a year. I will be back next year.”

• Check In area was neat & clean, hotel located across from amusement park.
• I was promised a room with connecting door because I was traveling with 5 teens this was not delivered.

“The night manager was not helpful, I had to spend the first night in a room with no adjoining door despite being promised by an employee of the hotel that I would be given connecting rooms. I was moved the following day but we had to repack all of our belongings which was not convenient.”

• Kings dominion is only a walk across the parking lot.
• Housekeeping missed our room on the 2nd day of our visit.

“Simple, straightforward lodging. An attached Dennys was convenient for breakfast before heading over to kings dominion, which is only a walk across the parking lot. The rooms were clean and functional, though ours did not have a refrigerator, a surprise for a 3 star motel. Exterior corridors and stairs. Free Wi-Fi.”

• Walking distance to kings dominion saved parking fees.
• Basic hotel. Nothing more.

“Saved on parking fees for kings dominion. The hotel also let us keep out car there on check out day, so we actually saved 2 days worth of parking fees. Hotel was basic. Denny's food was good.”

• Bathroom cleanliness in the room.

“The staff is always very friendly and courteous. The Denny's onsite was much quicker for service and wait times on this visit. Hopefully, it will keep on that track. The beds in the room are comfortable. The bathroom is still in need of help. The cleaning staff had not cleaned the outside of the toilet bowl (again), but we were prepared for it this time! We took our own disposable gloves and cleaned and disinfected every surface in the room. It only takes a few minutes with two people doing the chore. You know wherever you are touching has been cleaned. There is no need to wait for the shuttle to Kings Dominion since the Best Western has direct access for walking to the park. The convenience to the park and the friendly staff are the main two reasons to stay here. I highly suggest checking the bathroom, sink and table making sure they are clean, but if you take the few minutes to go over the area yourself, you'll know it's clean. Like I said, everyone is very helpful. If your room is not as clean as you like, then housekeeping will come and take care of it for you. Overall, a good place to stay and have fun.”

“Before you take your luggage in, it would be wise to do a complete inspection to make sure it's clean! The only "new" decor for the rooms that is noticeable is the mattress! Everything else is the same old stuff! The maid service does not do a thorough cleaning of the rooms when guests check out! Evidence being that when we got into our room, the coffee pot was still full of old coffee. There was a lamp missing from the room, and the other lamp had a burned out bulb. The bathroom was disgusting! There was dried poop all down the front of the toilet! From right under the bowl down to the floor--about two to three inches wide to six inches long--only way for a traveler to notice it was if the door of the bathroom was left open so the mirror could reflect this--which is what happened to us and how we saw it! However, the maid service should have done a complete cleaning of the bathroom before it was released to be occupied again--which was not done. The shower tiles need to be cleaned. The grout is beginning to show mold and mildew at the bottom of the tiles. The shower curtain also had mildew. The bathroom fan was not even completely attached to the ceiling--nor did it really work. The rooms need to be deodorized, whether it is a smoking or not. Once you opened the door you are greeted by an old, musty, smoky smell of being unclean. Trash is left outside in the common area for pick up in the morning. The supervisor was very friendly and made sure the toilet was cleaned immediately, but that is too little too late! I would advise that you bring your own coffee pot, cleaners and gloves to wipe down the toilet and sink area! Also, this is not the first time we have stayed at this BW in Dowell, nor will it be the last due to the easy access to Kings Dominion, but I will be bringing my cleaners from now on.”

“The rooms have been updated some, and they were much cleaner than our previous visits. The housekeeping is doing better so far this year, but they are still not paying complete attention to the rooms. One of the beds had a bedspread that actually had a hard burn hole in the spread. ”

• Convenient location to Interstate 95.
• Needed much to be desired for the cleanliness.

“The staff was friendly, but the room was dirty. The heat should have been turned on in preparation for our arrival. The room was freezing and dirty. There was mold in the bathroom. We checked to see if the sheets were clean and pulled the comforter off as it smelled. The only thing we did like was the location and the staff was friendly.”

• Great for families and very kid friendly.
• Food in Denny's not good.

“The hotel was clean and was very kid friendly. It is a great place to stay with small children, and was great being to go back and forth to Kings Dominion. We will be staying at this hotel again in the future.”

• We could walk to Kings Dominion and it was very clean.
• Housekeeping did NOT clean our room on the second day.

“This hotel was very clean and perfect proximity to Kings Dominion. However, housekeeping did not clean our room on the second day. When we called the front desk at 5:50p.m. to tell them, the clerk said maybe they did not get to it yet. I knew that was not the case at 5:50p.m. We just asked for clean towels because my kids were already settling down and watching T.V. Also, there was no elevator.”
