• Great fires by beach at night.
• Laundry room closed at 9pm.

“Very close to Hearst castle/ down to earth good restaurant, very kid friendly right on beach with three wood burning fires at night. really worth the money.”

• It was very close the Hearst Castle!
• I just think that for the price, I expected a little wow!

• It was right on the beach with nice views of the coastline.
• Separate door entrances (not through lobby) allow for a lot of noise, esp. other cars.

“Seemed to be the best of the bunch for this location. Would like it if there were more shops (they all close at 5) open later and restaurants to choose from. It is close to Cambria, though, which is a very quaint little town with a lot more to do. So either take the drive to Cambria or stay there. San Simeon only exists because of the Hearst Castle.”

• Location.
• Carpeting. Dreary furniture.

“This hotel is in a great location for visiting the hearts castle. Right on the ocean. Fire pits on the sand were a nice extra. Room was a little dreary dark furniture and carpeting. Bathroom just okay. Desk clerk was very nice and friendly. Asked for a king bed; got two queens.”

• The location is quite good because it's close to Hearst castle.
• No breakfast.

• Very clean rooms, great food for the money and great location and overall value.
• Nothing.

“This hotel exceeded our expectations. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. The room was exceptionally clean and better than many higher priced hotels we have been to across the country.”

• Location near hearts castle.
• I do not like being on the ground floor, with my daughter.

“The parking lot was not well lit. I was upset that they would not move us to an upstairs room, and I will not go back to this hotel. San simeon only had 2 stars hotels available. This was actually the most expensive 2 1/2 star place I have ever stayed in.”

• Loved the fireplace in room and ocean view with patio.
• A little short on the kindling for the fireplace.

“This hotel was great for the price. The amenities were awesome and I will be returning to this hotel again. I highly recommend this hotel for a romantic weekend getaway. We absolutely loved it.”

• It had a spectacular ocean view and well manicured and maintained grounds.
• Although minor, it would be nice if the rooms in Kings Row had two double beds for travelers with children.

“We had a marvelous stay at this resort. We then found out that the hotel offered a Hearst Castle Adventure package at a great value so we purchased the package which included 2 tickets to the Hearst Castle, complimentary sparking apple cider (or champagne), two bath robes, and a $50 allowance for the restaurant or room service. This package saved us about $40-$50. We stayed in two rooms on Kings Row (151 & 152) each with a walkout patio and a spectacular view of the ocean. The rooms were a good size for our family of four. My mother stayed in adjacent room. Each room had a fireplace which was great in the cool evenings to warm up the space. The hotel staff was very courteous and friendly, and pleasant to interact with. The restaurant also had very friendly staff and were very nice to our children. They remembered our kids' names and even brought my son an extra bowl of clam chowder soup (his favorite) on the house. We enjoyed the food and service so much that we ate 3 meals there. To top it off they covered tickets for our 2 children to the Hearst Castle at no additional cost to us. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we wanted to stay a third day but unfortunately they were sold out for the that day. We wholeheartedly recommend this place to all travelers. We have vowed to return here on our next vacation to California!”

• Fireplace in room & firepots on the beach.
• Bad cell service.

“This was a first class hotel with more amenities than expected for the reasonable price. I would stay they any time and will recommend it to my friends & friends with doggies.”
