“I liked the location. Apple-bees was attached to the hotel, which we had dinner, but the dinner was colder than usual. The veggie tasted like canned food. It was expensive for the quality we received. The continental breakfast although only $3.99, but the food was hard and stale. The orange juice was watered down and with ice. It was tasteless. The blueberry muffins, the Danish, were hard and stale.”

“Hotel is great for this area of Rhode Island. Easy trip to Newport, which was our destination. Hotel is located in an area that has all the things you need while traveling. Staff was friendly and helpful, although they could not secure my laptop computer, (17"), either in the room safe or the hotel safe.”

“Our stay at Howard Johnson Inn was very enjoyable and a great bargain for any traveler. Room was very clean, beds were comfortable, and staff was very pleasant. If you just need a nice room without luxuries, this is a top pick.”

“This hotel would be great for families to vacation. It was very clean and extremely well priced. As a young romantic couple looking for a little time away, I would say not. The pool area was crowded with kids, who were disrespectfully tossing about 15 nerf football past peoples heads. There was also not enough room in the Jacuzzi because there were 10 years old kids in it. And lastly many of the staff was helpful and friendly but one of the front desk employees made me feel uncomfortable. This person made me feel like because I look young, I was going to try to skip out on my bill.”

“I had a bad experience with HoJo in the past but you have completely changed my mind. This was a clean pleasant hotel with staff that was wonderful. Oh and you can't beat the price!”

“This hotel is well placed amongst various restaurants (including an attached Applebees), which made it easy to find something to eat. I'm a birder, so it was also great that this hotel was only a ten minute drive from Sachuest national wildlife refuge. My only complaint is with the bathroom. There was an overhanging sink/shelf at the toilet, so it was impossible for the toilet lids to stay up without physically holding them up. They would not, under any circumstance, stay up on their own. A minor complaint, but annoying nonetheless. The staff was extremely friendly (especially for having to work on Thanksgiving), and the room was huge and clean. I would definitely stay here again if I ever go back to the Newport area.”

“While the location is convenient if you can't afford to stay in Newport, for the price I paid it should have been a lot nicer. It was extremely overpriced. I couldn't believe when I named my own price (not a low price) the best I could get was HoJo!”

“This hotel was convenient, clean, safe and quiet. The staff was very friendly and courteous. I am definitely going to stay at the he Newport again as my daughter is going to college nearby. I felt it offered everything I was looking for a short-stay. It is a short distance to area attractions and restaurants.”

“We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were modern and the children loved the indoor pool. The staff was friendly and helpful. Arrived to some free drinks and snacks. Free internet service in the lobby. First floor room you can park right out front, made bringing in luggage very easy. Location was close to everything. Would stay again.”

“Ok hotel. Very helpful staff. First room they gave us had a sewer smell in the bathroom. Staff was very helpful and courteous in relocating us. Rooms were adequate. Nothing spectacular, but I wasn't expecting that anyway. Good budget choice.” Amenities at Howard Johnson Inn Newport, Middletown
