• Hotel is very well presented.
• Every correspondence with the hotel was a negative experience, altering pricing and altering conditions. Proprietors attitude appalling. Steer clear!

“I'm compelled to warn travelers of my experience with this hotel and proprietor. After booking all of the rooms for one night due to a large family gathering and having our deposit taken and processed my wife popped in a month later to confirm all was well with our booking and also to get a receipt as this had not been sent to us as promised. After a long wait, (about 20 minutes) the proprietor arrived and my wife was told that if we wanted all the rooms we would have to book for two nights. We asked why this was not mentioned when he took our booking and processed our card payment for the deposit and also, as no-one had contacted her, what would have happened if we had not called in? Would we have just had nowhere to stay? Or been forced to pay the extra? Astonishingly, the answer was simply a shrug of the shoulders and "well, I do not know". Needless to say, we canceled our booking and have since found much more pleasant accommodation and service at another hotel only a mile and a half from the thatched cottage. Incidentally, I have since found many different pricing structures for the thatched cottage and to me, the rule seems to be whatever the proprietor feels like charging at the time you call. Whilst the hotel itself appears beautifully decorated the service from staff and management is the worst we have ever experienced. Book if you're a gambler or feel you like the place but do be prepared to turn up and have nowhere to stay.”

• Breakfast.
• Dinner service, cleanliness.

“The deluxe room we had was probably deluxe 5 years ago and I think that was when it was last cleaned. We found a spiders web with resident spider at the side of the bed. The staff were not over friendly and the dinner service was dreadful.”

• Clean, comfortable, well presesnted accomodation, excellent food & friendly, helpful staff.
• Some traffic noise at night which we're not used to.

“We were greeted in a pleasant manner & shown our room which was very spacious, clean and comfortable.
All staff were exceptionally friendly and the food was wonderful - especially the 10 course tasting menu.
We found the magician very entertaining!!
Overall' excellent value for money.”
