“We read the reviews from previous quests when deciding to book this accommodation, therefore we knew more or less what to expect. We travel regularly in UK and Europe. It was just what we were looking for as a stopover. We would certainly return for a longer stay in the future, it was a very beautiful spot, good to unwind and slow down the pace of life. Loved the birds good for birdwatching. Not easy to find, but when we rang we were given good clear directions and had no problems in finding the house.”

“One Green Hope is at the end of a lane, on a hillside next to a river, deep in the Scottish Borders. The remote location was perfect (probably inconvenient for anyone without transport, but fine by car) and the suite was excellent, far bigger than I'd expected from some of the photos on the Web. I recommend this hotel highly. The suite and some other rooms in the hotel have potentially connecting doors, so could be combined if necessary, for larger groups. The hotel adjoins the owners' house, the latter being, architecturally, an extension of the former. The owners provide excellent advice on local food and attractions. If you aren't likely to be up in time for breakfast, they could leave the materials in the kitchen and clear up later. (For our two nights of B&B we were in the large River Suite which has kitchen, living room, bedroom and ensuite shower/toilet, and some good views). As the owners remarked it might be less quiet if a large family was also in the hotel. That could be true in most hotels, but perhaps more noticeable in this quiet remote location. We were the only guests at the time (mid-January) and it was perfect, remote from the city, in and near beautiful countryside, not far from towns, and we were more refreshed than I would have expected form such a short break. As with all good holidays, we wished it could have been longer.”

“This was a lovely location and very spacious accommodation. We would love to re-visit, especially as self-catering accomodation. the 'active hotels' information did not make clear what facilities were actually available for self-catering while booking bed and breakfast.”
