• Beutiful hotel, lovely grounds, exemplary staff, lovely room, convenient location for motorway
• It was all excellent

“The food offered more than was delivered my lamb was tough and portions were very small.

The starter and dessert were great. Coffee awful and despite being asked twice the coffeee was served in the restaurant rather than the lounge. Also petit fours did not materialise as the menu promised and was paid for by me - but I didn't want to complain in front of a collegue.

There was a lack of public space, lounges to sit in other than the bar and the hall which was strange as the hotel looked enormous from the outside. Its probably more of a summer hotel.”

• The hotel had character missing from big chain hotels, it was somehow more personal, intimate.
• Being charged full price for breakfast for a baby, a two and four year old, '27 = excessive!

“The hotel did not have a lift and given we were on the top floor,(3 children) prior knowledge may have prompted me to secure a room lower down. The rooms, staff and the general ambience were good, the hotel internally corridors and stairways could have done with a clean or new coat of paint. The hotel oozes character and is a throw back to the halcyon days of a gentler more prosaic era, I would recommend it to couples looking for a romantic retreat.”
