• Clean, comfortable room. Friendly staff.
• Not as close to town as I thought - a 20 minute walk.

“Well run hotel in a quiet road. Manager is very polite and helpful. Free parking is a big bonus in Reading.”

• Closeness to town centre, car parking, privacy, cosy, approachable staffs, good breakfast area, free wireless broadband, nice garden.
• Weak shower, not very sound proof from upstairs and next doors, no wardrobe/chest drawers, breakfast items average quality.

“A generally good hotel but can be even better if more attentions are paid on breakfast materials used, shower system, use of wardrobe/chest drawers. Anyhow, it is a decent hotel and I will be very likely to visit again. Good luck.”

• It was clean, warm and well serviced with full time broadband internet connection.

“As a mature well travelled businessman from Australia I was looking for an inexpensive weekend stay between other visits where I could have full time wireless access to the internet to catch up on work - the Crescent hotel provided a perfect answer with friendly & helpful staff, adequate clean and warm accomodation and a willingness to go beyond the minimum!

Throroughly recommended.”

• Hotel was basic but clean and provided everything we needed, especially considering the price. Staff were helpful by giving us maps, taxi numbers, and directions where needed.
• The continental breakfast was not very continental (no croissants, only toast and cereal).

• leaving!
• Dirty, unfinished building work, didnt follow procedures expected.

“The only thing ok was the breakfast. For a hotel you expect evening food available, cleanliness, polite staff and simply things like the tv to work! Also they showed pictures saying double room was one double bed in the room, instead we go a (i assume family room) double and single cramped in. Noisey at night and early morning.”

• Friendly staff
• The wash basin in bathroom had a counter above which was very incoveniently placed if you actually wanted to wash your face - it should be removed..

“Everything was very good bar the wash basin counter ( poor positioning ). Staff were very helpful !”

• Well signed and good directions.
• Difficult for travelling outside of Reading due to rush hour traffic.

“Local knowledge of traffic conditions would have been useful,particularly for travel south of the M4.

Usefull as a stopover but I would not recommend for leisure/longer stay.”

• Staff were friendly and efficient.
• Room smelt of tobacco smoke, walls were thin so you could hear other residents. A couple were given a room at 02:30 and when doors were opened and shut, the other room doors rattled.

“The stay was acceptable but I know that my colleague was concerned about the cleanliness of his bathroom. I would have liked to have known if there were smoking and non-smoking rooms as we found both our rooms to smell of smoke which we find unacceptable.”

• Good parking and staff able to help a friend with an additional parking space for a friend when Reading carparks were overflowing!

• Room for four people, good value for money and nicley decorated.
• Not enough storage space, mirrors, towels or plug sockets.

“Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to others. It was brilliant value for money as all 4 of us could stay in the same room but a bit more storage space was needed. The staff were helpful and friendly.”

• view from the room, quietness of road, close distance to reading center, coffee/tea equipment provided in room
• heating not on when needed (room very cold during the day), room too small (2m large), poor nb of channels on tv without remote control

• friendly staff, helpful in bar, pleasant location
• room poorly furnished but bed comfy, no cable or satellite tv - a news channel would be a minimum for me! TV didnt have teletext!

“Ok if you are on a serious budget, to be honest I stayed there to accomodate the budget of a friend who stayed at the same hotel. But it's a reasonable clean basic hotel.”
