Those who like a bit of spooky history might like to know that the cellars were once used to house convicted criminals, sentenced to death by 'Bloody' Judge Jeffreys. Nowadays, the hotel is noted for the excellence of the cuisine at its Beaufort Restaurant and the extensive wine list.
