• I liked the location and the glorious grounds
• room was very basic, empty minibar, very noisy in the early morning,

“i thought that the hotel would be palatial, the grounds were fantastic but i didn't feel that the hotel lived up to it's reputation. Being woken at 7 o'clock in the morning by somebody playing the recorder was not a nice surprise.”

• Friendly staff, clean, smart rooms. Fantastic breakfast and staff helpful.
• The hotel is a bit of a maze, directions to reception could have been signposted better!

“We were visiting the hotel for a wedding and overall the stay was very good, if a bit pricy. The food is fantastic, both breakfast and room service, we could not fault it. The staff are good but this stay was not up to the same (very high) standard of so”

“Chose hotel because it had a swimming pool but when I went for a swim at 6:00 pm discovered it was kiddies splash night and was advised to come back at 8:00 pm (too late for me).
Was not told when I booked that the restaurant was closed and had to eat in the golf club which was not the standard I expected - it was OK for a golf club but I thought I had booked into a fairly posh hotel.”

• Setting of the hotel and service on arrival
• No duvet cover caused discomfort.Room next to hotel laundry and squeaky door outside-noisy!

“Our overall impression was disappointment. We had such high hopes based on the pictures on the website but the attention to small details like loose knobs on cupboard doors, no duvet cover, the amount of noise in close proximity to rooms and so on was not what you would expect of a 4star hotel. Sorry, but we would not return and we would not recommend this hotel.”

• beautiful setting, good service and room - solo female - felt safe in hotel
• pillows were very hard!

“Hotel room was excellent and I felt safe wandering around on my own - not the case with many other hotels!!!! Food was excellent and your reception staff were very helpful and a great credit to the hotel.
I think it would be good to have bottles of water in the rooms otherwise I was happy with everything there. Thanks for a great stay.”

• Good facilities, such as snooker room, pool, etc.
• Very poor breakfast.

“Nice place in a beautiful setting, although it suffers a little from the stuffiness of many English country hotels, and has clearly seen better days (see the worn-down carpets). Excellent facilities, and for dinner the restaurant was very nice, with good service and good food. Unfortunately, breakfast was a major let-down with undercooked sausage, deep-fried (!), over-cooked eggs and generally not particularly tasty ingredients.”

• excellent breakfast, easy to find
• only adequate parking, poor customer service in bars, small bath!
