“The atmosphere was chilled, relaxed and friendly and the staff were personable and friendly(including Benson!) A perfect place to stay to stop overnight, everything to hand, clean and tidy throughout. Well located for the sea front and town centre.”

“This hotel is currently being refurbished by the new owners to a VERY high standard. We did not stay in one of the refurbished rooms, but the hotel is immaculately clean throughout and the refurbishment which has taken place is very tasteful and luxurious. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. It was refreshing to see such courtesy and attention to detail. We hope to return!!”

“we are always apprehensive when looking for accomodation, but this hotel and the hosts christian and micheal, would make everyone feel at home. they have only been there for 13 months and they are renovating some of the rooms. the new luxury suite has the its own whirlpool bath. we liked the idea of them not having all male or female guests, such as hen/stag parties. we could also park which is a must for us. we will go again.”

“We booked the Edgcombe Suite, which has a higher standard of fittings than the other rooms. The extra cost was worth it - the room is spotlessly clean & roomy. The bathroom is enormous and has a large jacuzzi and bath robes. The bedroom is equipped with an LCD TV (with on-digital channels), a safe, a fridge and good range of drinks (with complimentary cooler). The owner ensured we had all that we needed, providing us with ironing facilities, even though these are not advertised. On booking we requested a duvet, rather than blankets, which was provided. If you're looking for a place to stay where the standard of the room is the most important factor, rather than facilities such as an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre, and this would be an ideal place to book. No negative points to comment on.”

“The hotel is easy to find on the main road into Torquay, close to the seafront and very well kept. The owners are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The facilities are good and the quality and range of the inclusive breakfast is excellent.”

“I pre-booked a meal on the arrival day, and was telephoned by Mike,a co-owner, to discuss the menu.My partner and I travelled by train and Mike asked me to phone on arrival in Torquay and we would we be picked up and taken to the hotel. We were delivered back to the station at the end of our stay.Very impressive, never had this before.Mike and his partner, Chris have obviously spent a great deal of time and money to make this into a first class establishment.Evening meals can be ordered and there is a bar.We were pleased to meet the third member of the management team, Benson, the dog.He was very friendly, liked to be fussed and his behaviour was impeccable. Nothing was too much trouble and courtesy was the order of the day.I regard the Mount Edgcombe as a superb small hotel and look forward to my next visit.Highly recommended.”

“We had a brilliant 4 night stay, we were fortunate as I managed to find a few excellent days/nights out even though it was out of season. The accomodation just complimented this as we felt home from home. Owners do have a lovely guard dog, I am a dog lover but unfortuntaly my girlfriend is not. Holiday makers should be aware of this.”
