This historic building has enjoyed a variety of uses over the years. In the 18th Century it became a coaching house called the Kings Head. In 1995 it was renamed 'Bertie's' after the P.G Woodhouse character Bertie Wooster.Our team of chefs have gained recognition from the AA and Good Food Guide. Bertie's specialises in traditional British fayre but our chefs have blended culinary nostalgia with modern flair and created a very different menu. The menu may feature 'Homemade fishcakes with a tomato herb sauce' alongside 'Brochettes of monkfish with a lemon and chervil dressing' or perhaps 'pork and herb sausages on a bed of mustard mash' alongside 'Roasted rack of lamb with figs and a sauce of ginger'. It is not all full meals, we serve simple lunches and snacks using the finest fresh local produce. In the evening the restaurant is transformed with linen napkins and candles. Parties are catered for with special menus available on request. We can also offer very comfortable guest rooms. these are all en-suite with a television, as well as tea and coffee making facility[less]

Breakfast was average.
Bad bathroom-no hot water, bad mattress and bed, TV unwatchable, very poor!!

“I would never stay at Berties again. We were charged A#100 b&b when booking direct to then find rooms on internet for A#65. The mattress was so cheap and uncomfortable-springs very noisy. TV unmatchable as bad reception. the bed squeaked every time we moved. No shelf in bathroom. Curtains broken. Thin walls i.e. noisy neighbors. No hot water-we had to leave the hotel feeling very grubby! Bathroom was very basic and old fashioned- no proper shower. Do not stay here!!”

Good position in relation to town centre and easy to find.
Non smoking room was extremely smelly with stale smoke. Hand wash basin too small for facial washing. Tv did not have adequate aerial and no remotecontrol. Windows were very unclean.

“Having arrived at the hotel I was directed to a parking space at the rear of the next door shop. Next morning I had to wait thirty minutes before the owner of a car parked blocking me in would come out and move it. Hotel staff should have told me that my car needed to be moved by a certain time the next morning.”
