• excellent, friendly staff and good food
• quality of furnishings in bedrooms

“I have never stayed in a hotel with friendlier, more helpful staff. They were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. We were treated as friends the whole time. The hotel is being upgraded and workmen were present the whole time, which did not bother us, but I feel clients should be advised of this before their stay.”

• Pleasant breakfast.
• Manager wearing bath robe to greet me! No warning of disruption from refurbishment.

“I would have liked to know that the hotel was practically closed for winter refubishment - I was the only guest with no access to any lounge. Lack of information upon arrival. Manager wearing a bathrobe to greet me and throughout the evening as I went in & out of the hotel. Weird!!. Felt a little unnerved by this reception (lone female).”

“It seems that they've spent money on this old building, but not enough. Disappointing reception area, unfinished paintwork, loose taps, plugs that don't hold the water, lights that don't work, curtains that don't pull properly. Bed was good, staff freindly and good breakfast, but overall not up to standard for the price. A shame because it looks like they're trying to please.”

• Everybody went out of their way to make sure the stay was enjoyable.
