• Excellent location in city centre
• Hotel possibly a bit dated but it is being updated

“An excellent value hotel for the money, which was booked via the web. It is an old hotel but has character and the rooms are being refurbished. The facilities were fine and the bar/cafe is very nice feature of the hotel as well as its excellent location”

• modern, great location, great staff, fantastic time
• small but very clean.

“We highly recommand this hotel to everybody. It's location is in the middle of manchester, and we had a great time. The staff was very welcomming and this is one of the best hotels we have been sleeping in sofar. We definately will be back here again.”

• Perfect location for getting to and from my work's Christmas night out
• Very uncomfortable bed, stained duvet cover, temperamental shower, peeling wallpaper

“The location of the hotel couldn't have been more perfect, well within 5 minutes walk of Victoria station, overlooking the Cathedral. Unfortunately the location and the fact the reception was 24 hours a day, is the only postive thing I could say about the hotel. The bed was too hard, leading to a very poor night's sleep and a stiff shoulder - the duvet cover was stained as was the carpet. Wallpaper was peeling in places and the shower was the worst I've ever encountered for temperature control and water flow. I was glad I was only staying the one night.”

• Only one electrical output socket in room.

• City centre location.
• Facilities and decor were very poor.

“Hotel was adequate for our purpose and most staff were freindly, but I would not recomend it for anything other than a couple of nights stay of the type we were there for - a concert venue.”

• Very central to Manchester's shops and convenient to Victoria station
• No lift and being on the top floor - TV not working properly

“I was visiting my daughter in Manchester and wanted a reasonably priced single room in the centre. On the upside the hotel was very central and within easy walking distance of Victoria Station. All the staff I met were pleasant.

On the downside the hotel is very old and there is no lift.”

• The location. It was very near the Arena which was where we were going. It was pretty clean, there were tea and coffee making facilities.
• The bathroom was not very good. The lino was in poor condition. The shower was very weak. Overall it looked in need of renovation.

“It was adequate, for 62.50 GBP per night in a hotel in the centre of a city it wasn't too bad. I would not recommend it for anything other than a convenient location at a low price. I would definitely not recommend it for someone looking for a bit of la treat. Breakfast is not included in the price.”

• Convenient to Victoria Station
• Internet site implies hotel is in quiet cathedral grounds but in fact is next to a noisy pub. Check in upstairs was inconvenient As usual no laundry facilities

“Hotel is adjacent to a noisy pub - difficult to get to sleep. No laundry facilities, no internet access - these are the sort of traditional hotels that will be wiped out by the spread of the Ibis style hotels”
