• Leaving the place.
• The smell in the room and the stairs.

“This is the worst Hotel that either my partner or I have ever stayed in. On arrival the car park is in a complete state of dis-repair. The hotel itself is like something out of a seventies time warp. The bedroom was freezing and both of us have caught a cold as a result of staying there and we only could stand it for one night. The stairs leading to the rooms stunk of cigarettes which were coming from the bar. The bedroom smelt of something which we could not place my partner thought it was fish. How this place has got 3 stars I really cannot understand it must have been assessed the last time it was decorated which would have been in the 70s I think. The worst thing is they charge £61.50 per night for a sub standard hotel, do your self a favor if you want a bit of quality stay at the Oaks Hotel, if you want clean and well looked after stay at the Travel lodge or the Travel Inn both of which are cheaper per nights and far better quality.”

• Liked the 'old fashioned' atmosphere of the hotel. No impersonal 'little boxes' of rooms

“The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were visiting to attend a funeral and the reception staff were so kind and sympathetic, which wouldn't normally be the case at some hotels where one gets the feeling that is 'in, pay the bill, and out'”

• The Onsuite was fantastic.
• Bed not comfortable.Main lighting not bright enough for writing etc.

“I found the Hotel very old-worldly and friendly.Management and staff were helpfull and pleasent.
As I was in for 1 overnight stay only, my views are limited. I however sampled the coffe/snack bar and the main bar, both gave exellent service.The live music in the main bar was a jaz band and seemed very popular.”

• Poor decorative order. No ventilation in room and no heating controls.

“Hotel's appearance is 'tired'.
Breakfast not available as per menu.
Room had been prepared for 1 when booked for 2.
In general the accommodation was ok, but we were surprised this was classed as high as a 3 star hotel”
