• Excellent accomodation, beautiful rooms and lovely decor and thought in every room.
• internet being down was a real problem. for the whole weekend!

• The staff at the desk were very helpful and made our stay very enjoyable.
• We stayed for a week and a dresser with drawers would have been nice.

• Contemporary design suitable for a young couple
• Bar service took a while to come to your table (10-15 min)

• The room was comfortable and the hotel well positioned
• It was difficult to get hot water

“I found it a little odd boiling a kettle in the wardrobe which meant having to position clothes so they were not affected by the steam”

• Super stylish, friendly staff, excellent location and adequate parking
• Expensive

“Mal Maison is located in an excellent location on the dock, surrounded by a good selection of pubs, bars, shops and restaurants.
The hotel bar and brassarie are both superb and consequently get very busy. Everything at the hotel, although high quality, still seemed slightly over priced, however, this might just be me being a tight Yorkshire bloke! Parking is plentiful and transport links into Edinburgh city centre are good. Would recommend this hotel for a luxury break to anyone.”

• Large room - I hate it cramped!Comfy bed too

“Restaurant full at breakfast so overflow to cafe/bar where coffee was selfserve from a flask - not chic at all. Breakfast good but as usual with hotels very expensive for what it is.”

• very good sized room, excellent bed, very good bathroom - clean with great shower
• view from bedroom was kitchen ventilators - not particularly nice or quiet

“we stayed on a busy Saturday night - staff were obviously a bit stressed having to deal with a lot of people wanting to check in, requests for dinner tables etc. However, the room was very clean and very nice, the hotel bar was good with good service and the complimentary olives with drinks was a nice touch (and a very well made Gin & Tonic always hits the spot!). Be aware that although Malmaison provide a great deal of good services for guests, I felt there was a tendency to want to charge for everything - e.g. we paid for the room on check-in and an extra '50 was taken from my card just in case we used any services (this was to be refunded if it wasn't used however, but I didn't know this in advance). You are also charged for the hire of any CDs you might want from reception for the CD player in your room.”

• Excellent parking and lovely room.
• Checking in was fraught - to have to wait for over an hour and a half for a room after an early morning flight from London was bad.

“We really enjoyed the hotel and would have no hesitation to stay there again the next time we are in Edinburgh.”

• Great character merged with modern design.
• Noisy bit of plant or equipment running near bedroom.No explanation or apology given for fire alarm going off in middle of night.
