  • Seafood Platter was fabulous.
  • Noise from the bar, and customer service following our complaint.

“Stayed for three nights in a deluxe room and ate in each night. First two nights was excellent. Third night I received a main course salad the size of a side salad and we were kept awake by noise from the hotel bar until the early hours, not appreciated when you have a six hour drive the next day. Could be good if your room is nowhere near the bar or function room but we will not be returning.”

  • The staff were very helpful with questions, the breakfast excellent and the room (bed firm) very clean and comfortable.
  • Should have contacted beforehand to receive more specific walking directions, it wasn't straightforward.

“I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend the hotel. It is away from the hubbub of the city center but still convenient in accessing the center and sites of Edinburgh (the bus stops in front of the hotel, the Haymarket train stop is a few minutes up the road, or it is a nice manageable walk to the city center).”

  • Excellent food

“This is a nice traditional hotel, within 20 minutes walking distance of Edinburgh city centre. It is very comfortable and has a friendly 'homely' atmosphere - not like so many of the anonymous big chain hotels. Highly recommended.”

  • Rooms brilliant, nice breakfast, bar was great too. Nice atmosphere in the hotel.
  • Parking bit of a squeeze, longish walk to princess street (15-20 mins).

“Great hotel. Set in an old manor house so it has great atmosphere and character, yet is still perfectly maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful, rooms are spacious and again, have some character. Generally highly recommended, the only thing I think could turn people of is it is still a fair distance from the centre. We loved the exercise but I can imagine some might find it a bit far to walk.”
