Had you travelled by stage coach on the hazardous Carlisle-Glasgow route in the 1800 '5 you would certainly have appreciated the hospitality and warmth of the Abington Coaching Inn-just as Napoleon III did in 1839 when he rested here after a tiring days grouse shooting. You can still find his chair in the hotel. Today this friendly family run hotel offers a comfortable and reasonably priced centre whilst visiting Scotland: Not only is the hotel easy to find, but the centres of Edinburgh, Glasgow, Stirling and the Trossachs, Burns Country and Walter Scott country are all about an hours drive away. Very friendly staff make up for rather tired interior.

It was perfect for my needs
The towel rail in the bathroom didn't heat up. The coffee with breakfast was awful.

“The Hotel is a very convenient place to stay when travelling into Scotland. It is set in the village of Abington with easy access to the Motorway”

Friendly, efficient staff. Clean and tidy.
Limited parking at the hotel itself, athough there was adequate free parking in the quiet road outside the hotel.

“The hotel was very easy to find, and is conveniently situated near the M74, making it an ideal stopping point en-route to Glasgow or Edinburgh.
The staff were cheerful, efficient and helpful. The public areas were clean and tidy and the bedroom was clean and comfortable.
The discount for booking online made the price attractive.”
