  • Very central, and excellent and will be going back to the hotel in future times.
  • The one point I didn't like was that you didn't get individual pots of tea at breakfast time :(

“Nice to arrive early(9 am) and room ready.:)”

  • The no nonsense, hence no hassle approach of staff.
  • Lack of towels in room. Bars not open early enough. Poor cooked breakfast. Hospitality tray in room lacking in sugar.

“The hotel is in a good fairly central location close to ammenities. Friendly helpfull staff aid your stay but work needs to be done on what is offered in the rooms.”

  • Leisure facilities were good.
  • See general review.

“Overall the Nelson Hotel was very outdated. The decor was very old and our bathroom was outdated to the point of the plastic laminate on the sink cracking and peeling. We asked for a river view, which we got but only through very old net curtains and the room service breakfast was very poor considering the high price. Our particular room was a few doors away from the main lift, which, given its age, could be heard from our room whenever it was used. The leisure facilities, however, were very good although on the day we used them, the spa was out of order. I would not stay at the Nelson Hotel again purely because I could book a better hotel for a fraction of the price.”

  • Hotel was in close proximity to the city centre & the railway station - only a two minute walk with the luggage
  • Leaky toilet

“I have stayed in this hotel before so knew the level of service / accomodation I should expect.
As we chose to take the train, being close to the station was important, also the city centre & football ground.
General lack of hotels in the city centre anyway & this means that we will be staying in this hotel again, likely next visit will be mid Jan.”

  • Room comfortable and hotel located near city.
  • Asked for non smoking room and was given a smoking room. Room was near lift and this was noisy.

“The Hotel Nelson is centrally located with parking and a great bonus is the short walk into the city of Norwich. On arriving we found the exterior of the building rather office like, in fact it looks like the local tax office! However, appearances are deceptive and we were warmly welcomed at reception. The room was fine with television, en suite bathroom, tea and coffee (but no hot chocolate!) and a rather depressing view over the car park! The food in the formal restaurant was good but the atmosphere was dull due to the few people dining. There was also a bar serving hot food and snacks. Breakfast was fine, a good choice of hot and cold foods.

Overall our stay was fine and would recommend the hotel for a weekend break to see the fine city of Norwich.”
