• Splendid position made sightseeing a pleasure. Luckily we knew we should pre-book parking.

“River-side setting was splendid start to our sightseeing in York with three Czech visitors. Friendly staff made us welcome.
Full breakfast was excellent.
Although the parking was not secure it was a real comfort to know we had somewhere close-to arrange”

• couldnt order breakfast to your room

“hotel is central to everywhere. the hotel is clean, basic and ideal. service and staff were friendly and very helpful. We were pleased it was a smoking room.however there was one instance when the the room was cleaned, the cleaner took our second key! so we thought it had been lost, but reception confirmed she took it, and it happens a lot. it was excellent that your allowed to order in takeaway food. but i was disappointed that you couldnt have breakfast delivered to your room in the morning. overall excellent.”

• The bed and towels were clean and comfortable.
• There could have been more choice of channels on the television. The soap dispenser on the bath wall was empty.

“The room was perfectly comfortable and was clean and adequate.The hotel's staff were very helpful especially as i had made a mistake with my booking!.
The breakfast was a little dissappointing a sthere was only scrambled egg which was rubbery and cold as was some of the other food.”

• Excellent location close to town centre
• At first was given a smoking room, asked reception to change, we were given room 25 which has an extractor vent outside the window from the kitchen, which was noisey first thing in the morning.

“The hotel was easy to find in a good location. Food was excellent. bedrooms were clean and well fitted out. overall well appointed”

• Staff weren't particularly helpful or efficient

“Catering arrangements were very disappointing, and staff were not particularly helpful.

No facilities for leaving luggage in a secure room.

However, hotel is in a very convenient location for the city centre
and the rooms are large and clean.”

• Excellent location. Helpfulness of staff when partner taken ill. Food excellent.
• Hotel next to building site. Articles missing from room.

“Rooms are generally a very high standard and very comfortable and the hotel is in a great position in relation to the City and its attractions. There is some building work going on opposite the hotel so if you get the wrong part of the hotel it can be noisy at certain times and Room 1 is next to a service room. One morning the washing machines were started quite early waking us.
Unfortunately my partner had to go to hospital on the morning we were due to depart but the staff were very helpful in every way, getting the ambulance, extending stay etc. They really made the whole situation so much easier. In fact at all times staff were a real credit to the Hotel.
Overall - If we go back to York we would be very happy to return to the hotel.”

• Good location near city centre, parking facilities on request and adequate rooms
• Room service would have been a nice extra and a bit more friendlier staff.

• The view from our hotel room of the River Ouse and York City, was stunning, and the bedroom itself was pleasantly decorated, very clean and warm (it was late January). It was also good to be able to open the bedroom window easily to fully enjoy the view.

“The hotel is located on the River Ouse, and is situated within York city walls, and so is very close to the major tourist area of York. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, although we did not eat at the hotel, on account of the excellent choice of restaurants and pubs nearby.”

• Good central location, the view of river was nice and the room and bathroom were very clean.
• Bed very uncomfortable - cheap matress and pillows. Room very basic furniture. Breakfast was basic.

“Hotel was badly signed (not obvious where main reception was from outside. Staff were friendly and helpful though seemed unaware of our booking of a car park space. Whole hotel very bland and characterless - no pictures in rooms or corridors. Nothing provided, no shower cap, tissues etc. provided, Nowhere to place suitcase to unpack. However the location was good. Online booking service didn't work at all.”

• Close to the town and general comfort of the hotel
• No coat hangers in the room

“The information provided on the website was adequate for my needs,
the hotel was perfect for our stay and would use the hotel and
booking service again.”

• Adjacent to York City facilities, and within walking distance to buses etc.
• No guest welcome packs like shower hat, shampoo etc.

“No complaints, the discription of the Hotels facilities were well advertised and a fully comprehensive explanation on-line.”

• Close proximity to York city centre. just a few minutes walk to the historical centre. Room with river view was nice.

“Good accommodation with helpful staff. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The only draw back was that we could not check in to our room at tlunch time as requested. However this was not a great problem as the hotel stored our luggafe for us whlste we went out to lunch. Altogether a very enjoyable stay.”

• Central site in city New, clean hotel
• You must take notice of when e.g. the shower curtain smells like a dead rat, poisoning the whole room. You must tell the cleaners to at once notice such things, and change/wash up.

“OK. Value for money.
Although fairly new hotel, it would benefit from new changes, esp. in bathroom.”

• no room service, would like more individuality, cosiness in rooms, wider tv selection / films

“I like to stay at the Queen's for the view of the river - but as a hotel it's very much the same as many other lower price hotels, clean, good service, very uniform rooms. The price is ok - not cheap, not expensive for my budget. It lacks personality, as I suppose it's not catering for guests who will spend time in their rooms. But it's comfortable, warm, and convenient.
Room service would be a plus, and some satellite tv / pay per view maybe.”

“Put on booking that would be arriving in the morning but room was not ready.

Was then told it would be ready for 2 pm, when in fact it was ready earlier than that. My relative was pleased about that!!”

• Clean and functional. Nice bathroom. Great location
• Building site opposite window meant I had to close the curtains. Could feel the bed springs through mattress

“Great location, right on the edge of the City Centre, near bars and restaurants. Obviously newly built, though the mattress was uncomfortable (I could feel the springs) and the building site opposite meant I had to close the curtains. I would stay there again.”
