  • clean very comfortable

“The accomadation was clean and cosy.
The food was excellent.
Although the staff were pleasant, I think being friendly was not quite
the word I would have chosen.
I would stay there again if nothing else was available in the area.”

  • Nice village location. Fair restaurant.
  • Indifferent attitude of staff. No hot water for first night. Inaccurate advice re. breakfast times.

“I didn't feel looked-after or cared-about in this hotel. It took far too long for us to be sorted out on arrival. We had two rooms booked and neither had hot water for a shower after a long drive from the south coast. This meant having to keep an evening appointment without the chance to shower first- unheard of in my experience.

The room was rather tatty, with, for example, curtains torn and TV remote control not working. There was no lemonade (to have with our late noght scotch)in the bar on Sunday night when we returned to the hotel (apparently the lemonade tap was faulty). We were told that breakfast was served until 10.00am. on the Monday morning only to be told on that day , at 9.45am., sorry sir”

  • Beautiful location
  • Freezing showers, pokey rooms, no hairdryer, no bar extension for residents, no toilet rolls!.

“Showers were disastrous with no hot water. Excuse from the staff was that everyone was using the showers at that time. That is disgraceful. No bar extension for residents! No toilet roll in room. Overall '70 for two was a ripoff but achieved a '10 reduction for the cold water.”

  • Comfortable bed, rural location
  • Cost Black mould in the shower

“The website overstated the facilities and service
e.g. the website states breakfadst is served between 7.00am and 10.00 am.
The Bat and Ball served Sunday breakfast at 8.30am which was inconvenient for our holiday arrangements”

  • Nicely presented and clean.
  • Door of shower cubicle was broken!

“We took advantage of the Sunday Special offer, and felt we had extremely good value for money. The atmosphere was lovely, staff friendly and the food served in the pub was very good. Located close enough to Oxford not to be too far away, but still in the countryside.”

  • Staff were friendly and helpful
  • Breakfast was too late for us. 8;30 is abit late to start even on a Saturday.

“The accommodation was good, although basic. The village setting is excellent - very quiet and attractive. Good atmosphere.”
