The Royal Hotel.. a great tradition providing hospitality for over 150 years - within walking distance of all of Bath's leading attractions.
The Royal specializes in short breaks - its central location and friendly, informal atmosphere makes it a perfect location for a short holiday in the lovely City of Bath. This decidedly Georgian looking hotel was, in fact, built by Isambard Kingdom Brunel the famous English architect of the time for the arrival of the railway in Victorian times and the 'Royal' prefix was given as a reminder of Queen Victorias visit to the City of Bath. The Royal commenced trading in 1846. The original name was the Royal Station Hotel and because of the growing influence of rail travel and its close proximity to the station in 1852 an upper level footbridge was built directly linking the first floor of the hotel with the station platforms, for the convenience of hotel guests. This footbridge remained until 1936. The Royal has changed ownership a number of times during its nearly 150 years of history and in March 1995 PR Inns acquired the business. 'PR' is a small private company wholly owned by its two partners who are highly experienced hoteliers and restaurateurs. They are committed to continually improving both the physical aspects of the hotel and the standards of service, food and hospitality to ensure that guests have a comfortable and enjoyable visit which will be repeated many times.[less]

Close to City centre and parking. Staff were lovely. Value for money.
A little noisy outside around 5am. Peeling wallpaper in bathroom. Open fire door near room.
“There was some initial confusion with regard to what meals were and weren't included in the package. This was soon clarified by staff. The knowledge of the Hotel's proximity to bus and train stations may have alerted us to the probability of more street noise than we expected.”

The hotel is very well situated with all needed facilities.
The room temperature was too hot at times and windows cannot be opened.
“I found the experience a good one and there is nothing that came as a suprise. The detail provided on the website was reality. The staff were friendly and helpful. Food in the restaurant was good and reasonably priced.”
