  • Game club and pool are nice.
  • Long walk to pool/beach and lack of service.

“Nice property-spa and pool are nice but beach is small and public access and the service was terrible. We never asked for anything crazy-simple questions received eye rolling and huffs. We were told I don't know countless times and staff just walked away from us when we asked for a coffee lid. I could give dozens of examples from the week. I would try another hotel because the positives just don't outweigh the negatives.”

  • All the wonderful views of the ocean no matter where you were at on the resort.
  • No towels for the pool after 9:00pm.

“Just spent 4 nights and 5 days at this resort and had a great time. Got upgraded to an ocean view room because ours wasn't ready upon checking in. Check in went well and they were very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable and was always clean and tidy at the end of each day. Food was good. Liked that we had several different places to choose from. My kids enjoyed breakfast the most as they had so many things to choose from each morning. We only encountered one rude person who worked in the Turtle Rock Bar. Other than that everyone was friendly and helpful. Service could be slow at times but we didn't mind as it gave us a chance to chat about how our trip was going and what we were going to do for the rest of our stay. Went all-inclusive and would recommend that is the way to go. Food is very expensive otherwise. Some staff was a little in-different to all-inclusive guest but I always left an additional tip so we never had any problems. They definitely remember who is who and who left what. Took a day trip to Coki beach and Coral World. Had a good time. Staff at hotel was very helpful in setting this trip up for us and making sure that we got there and back. Yes, there were about 95 steps to walk down to get to the pool area but you could chose to take the shuttle if you preferred. We took the steps all but twice (kids wanted to ride the shuttle just to say that they rode it) and it was a great way to walk off all the food that we had eaten. The beach area did have some rocks but if you walked down to the other end you could get in without walking on rocks. There was plenty of stuff to do that my kids never complained they were bored. In fact they complained that we had to leave. Will definitely stay longer next time. Recommend this hotel for families and couples and people who just want to go somewhere warm and relax.”

  • Clean room with a good view.

“We have been on several very nice Caribbean vacations and this one was absolutely the worst! All but one of the pools were closed and the one open was filthy. There was only one restaurant open with the same menu each night, and the lunch restaurant only had fried foods as a "choice". Almost every employee we spoke to complained as well as EVERY guest that was there at the time. It was VERY expensive just to even get off the resort, we didn't know until the last day that there is a trolley at the end of the driveway where you can pay just $1 and virtually see the whole island. We had let them know that we were unhappy, so they sent us a gift basket, it had contained a broken bottle of wine and strawberries that were completely moldy! The room was clean. The only good day we had was when we took a tour of St John. We will never return back to the Wyndam Sugar Bay Resort and would NOT recommend anyone taking a chance on going there! Finally, the man-made beach was full of sea urchins, well at least that was a part that I got to take home with me! There was one night of "entertainment" a local women who danced "on top of fire", this took about 1 1/2 hours.”

  • Good staff, very nice people, very friendly / beds white and clean.
  • Nothing really, had to get used to the shuttle and taxis but okay after you got used to it.

“My husband and I just got back yesterday, after spending 6 days and 5 nights at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort in St. Thomas. We loved the entire stay there. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was friendly and very accommodating. We went all inclusive. The breakfast was better than great. All the food was very good. The staff made you feel welcomed. I didn't want to leave. I would go back again in a minute. The scenery from our window was just beautiful. We had a bay/ocean view. Best vacation ever!”

  • Nice, clean room.
  • Small beach, partial view from room, too far from everything.

“Don't stay here if you want to see the island. The hotel is about 30 min from the airport and town. The taxis are $15.00 per person to go anywhere. You can walk to end of steep road and catch a tram which is a pick up truck with seats in the back.”

“Nice hotel. Wish we could have stayed longer but we hope to go back. Decent gym. Nice pools and small but pretty beach. Food was decent. Very pretty spot with nice views. Rooms were nice, clean, nice bath and I liked that they had safes.”

  • The breakfast was good.
  • Filthy, rude staff, man made rock beach, difficult to get around.

“If you expect to get what you pay for, do not stay here. If you have allergies do not stay here (mold/mildew) and if you have a bad back (horrible mattresses) don't stay here. I expected a 4 star hotel with a good all inclusive plan. The room smelled like mildew, the bathroom floor/grout was mol die also. The iron had water left over in it and when I tested it to iron a white shirt, it was full of black stuff. Couldn't get reservations at Manor House for dinner. Food at Mangrove was not good; lots of flies, leftovers were served for lunch the next day. Trash cans around pool always overflowing and seagulls would practically fly into you to get to the trash, food or whatever. Service was horrible the staff acted as if they were annoyed to be around you, and did not think twice about rolling their eyes or making sounds of disgust. Incompetent. No AC in elevators. About a five story hike (stairs) to pool and the man-made rocky, small beach. Wyndham advertises quality bedding, feather pillows, etc., my bed sunk in the middle, and I had old, cheap, foam pillows. Very uncomfortable. The internet access is $20 a day. The drinks were weak and the pool bartender was mean. They do not give you premium beverages. This is not the paradise u expect. There are a lot of other nice places to stay. I left early. Horrible experience!”

“Most staff is rude. Cockroaches on entrance floor to manor house and mangrove restaurant food was terrible. No activities for kids. Slowest service around. Birds and flies on tables and on food. There for 8 days, only one night of live entertainment. ”

  • Wonderful service and great value.
  • Distance from downtown Charlotte Amalie.

“Many of the reviews below gave me trepidation before setting out on my trip. Now that I am home I know that I had no reason to be worried. We arrived 1 hour before check-in time, our room was not ready (understandably), we walked around the property a bit and checked back at check in time, a very nice woman at the desk called house keeping and they told her that it wasn't ready. She apologized and said she would find us. We went to the casino bar (right off the lobby) to have a drink, within 10 minutes she found us and gave us not only our key, but a room upgrade to a full ocean view and a certificate for dinner in their Italian restaurant, Tuscany. Our view was outstanding -- open ocean and St John. The Tuscany was the best meal we had on the island, much better than the highly recommended. The bar staff was very nice. The room wasn't pristine, but it was clean. All in all it was a wonderful vacation. We will definitely be going back to St Thomas. My only issue with the hotel is that is a bit far from downtown, if you want to explore there it will cost you in taxi fares. ”

  • It was warms and sunny.
  • Bad service, they just want you money.

“Bad service. I have lived in Hawaii for years, worked in Waikiki. Traveled to over 14 countries in my life. This was the worse place I have ever stayed in my life. My brothers wedding were there. Never again. They left saying they should have gone to Vegas. They have hidden charges galore. And treat you like crap. Read all the reviews on all the pages. The bad ones are usually at the bottom. The resorts pay for this. Click to the end and read them all. Sorry everyone. It¿s been 2 months since wow were there and its still makes me mad how horrible this trip was and this resort caused it all.”

  • Location, setting, friendly staff.
  • Mosquitoes, limited dining choices, no free Internet.

“This is a very nice resort. Although reviews I have read scared me, being there proved all negatives wrong. It is renovated, kept clean, very friendly staff, shuttle available if you do not want to do any walking or steps at all. Their dining choices although limited are good quality. Prices are very appropriate. Location, beach, pools, amenities are all very good.”

  • The landscaping and outdoor pool area was fantastic. The views from the room and balcony were also great.
  • The food was overpriced for the quality.

“Overall I liked it. About 15 minutes to town 25 minutes to airport, 5 minutes to the ferry that went to St. Johns. The pool area and landscape were great. The views were great. The food and the overpriced nature of it were my only disappointment. The food should be better.”

  • Beautiful views
  • Tiny, rocky beach. Crowded swiming pool because of limited beach.

“Overall I enjoyed The Whyndham Sugar Bay. The main thing I did not like was the beach. It was small and looked man made. It was also very rocky in the ocean. The small beach made the pool more crowded. However, the staff was very nice and the views were great.”

“The Hotel is in need of updating. Our rooms were clean, but old. One word of advise - do not leave food around it attracts sugar ants. The views were beautiful the pool was good. Safari bus brings you back & forth if you do not was to take the stairs(really no big deal) Food, breakfast good, lunch good, dinner ok but warm- not hot even if it was sent back service slow, drinks ok, entertainment little, but the bar in the lobby had video $$ machines with slots, poker, etc. I won $187.50 on joker poker. Snorkeling was good, take ceral from breakfast to feed the fish. The ocean was rocky, but if you took time to look down as you went in it was ok. Overall the US Virgin Islands is breath taking, you must go to St. John snorkeling is a must rent a life jacket & swim the trail. Meagen's Bay is also beautiful.”

  • One of the good hotel in st. thomas
  • The quality was degrading compared to my staying 3 years ago

“The food as all-Inclusive hotel was not as good as other 4 stars all-inclusive, the price for all-inclusive is also much higher than other 4 stars hotel. But as EU plan, the hotel is great.”

  • Hotel was in beautiful setting and weather was great
  • Dirty, poor service too far to beach and pool from hotel

“Too expensive hotel is run down , dirty and poorly run. The service was extremely slow, bring a pillow for dinner it takes that long to get served. some of the staff were pleasant but for the most part when you ask for something they seem to be put out and annoyed. rooms are very dirty, floors in bathroom sticky, fans never cleaned, you can see the dirty on them. they say non-motorized sports are free but not true, beach rafts were $10. and if you wanted a snorkel and fins better be prepared to wait or rent them for the entire stay otherwise you dont get them. The people who work in the pool and beach supplies tell you they dont work for the hotel, if you complain to them. all in all a very expensive trip and not worth it at all.”
