“The Grand Paradise Bavaro is not my favorite vacation spot. Requests were not handled in a timely manner, once I got so mad and asked to speak to a manager then and only then someone came to the room to resolve the problem. The hotel is under poor management, the beds needs to be replaced, along with the linens. My son's money was stolen from his pocket in his room and the investigation was as expected, no resolution; the investigator appeared drunk. It took us about an hour to get the food, we never went to any other restaurant; for the most part we ate at the buffet. I recommend that the owners consider closing the hotel for a few days to completely, clean the entire resort and replace the beds, TVs, linens, etc. By the way I forgot to mention the roaches, oh my God!”

“Ok where should I begin. First, we waited on the check in line for about 30 minutes with only one group in front of us. There were 3 people behind the desk but seemed only one was checking people in. We waited 30 minutes at the front desk. After making a comment one of the three workers called me up to the front desk. We asked the bell boy to please have our luggage in our room as soon as possible because we wanted to change into our bathing suits and he took more than 40 minutes. They only give you one room key which you must keep in this Magnetic slot at the entrance of the room to turn the air and lights. When you leave you must take your key out the key which turns everything off. We had to ask for a second key and that was like pulling teeth. The girls who work in the gift shop are horrible. They talk so much they forget about the people standing on line. The bar staff by the pool are so rude. I asked for a drink, he gave me a virgin, I asked for some Rum and he poured so much in my cup it over flowed my cup and everything spilled on the counter. They do not have bottled water. Only small cups which you have to get up every second to get a drink. Then we went on an excursion called the Caribbean Festival, it was wonderful all the staff on that boat was amazing. I bought a DVD for $35.00 of the whole trip. The guy who filmed it said I would have it the next day which was the 15th and it would be at the gift shop. 15th came nothing, 16th nothing called the company and they stated it will be there, 17th, 9 am called them again they stated it was dropped off at wrong hotel will have it to me in 20 minutes. 10am by bus got there to take me to the Airport and no DVD, before I left I told the hotel manager what happened and he said the hotel has nothing to do with those tours that go on. Yet, they let the Representatives from different companies on the second floor selling things in their Hotel makes no sense. The staff at the buffet was amazing. I can say they had the same food almost everyday which I really thought could be changed up a little. I had no problems while there. I would never in a million years recommend this hotel to anyone. Please stay clear at this hotel.”

“I have traveled a lot and up to this point have never experienced anything like this resort before. We had no hot water for 3 days, no water at all for an entire day and no electricity/air conditioning off and on for an entire day. The front desk staff are very unhelpful and unresponsive. We had paid for an ocean view room and had to literally hand over the railing of our balcony in order to catch a glimpse of the beach - the ocean was completely out of site. The room itself was very basic to say the least. My wife and I were very upset when we saw what our extra $300 got us. The morning we checked out their system was down and we stood in line for over an hour and a half waiting to be checked out. Every time we asked to speak to a Manager we were told he was off site and that he was on his way. After over an hour when he did arrive he was even less help with his very negative and rude attitude to all guests. We met a group of eight people and every one of us as well as a good group of people we spoke to were sick at one point or another because of the food. I have never seen an entire tour bus cheer when the bus pulled out of the resort prior to this experience. In my opinion no Tour Operator should, in good conscious, represent or offer this resort. If you have not been able to guess up to this point - I would definitely not recommend this resort to anyone!”

“First of all I will say the resort itself is wonderful. The ground is immaculate, beautiful pools, clean beach, and there is noting to complain about the food (although the 2 A La Carte, we did were nothing to write home about - Dominican and Sea Food). Our vacation would have been perfect except for a few problems. We were in building # 8 (Select section). First 2 days the hot water was barely a warm trickle-not enough pressure to keep the shower on. 3rd day, a cold trickle, then 3 days of good showers and the last day a cold trickle again. No air conditioning for over 24 hrs. No towels one day, but they were delivered within 15 minutes of calling reception. The bed sheets were too short for the beds resulting in a dirty mattress pad at your feet. When we arrived the bar fridge was stocked with water, pop, juices, chips, candy etc. Knowing that only 4 bottles of pop and the gallon of water are all-inclusive, I emptied out the fridge (into a drawer) and stocked it with our own stuff. The next day, my stuff was emptied and the fridge got re-stalked. We went to the reception and explained that we now had double bar fridge contents. We were told to put everything on the dresser and it would be taken care of and that there would be no charge since we did not use it. The next day one set of contents was removed. BUT. When we went to check out at the end of our stay. We were dinged with a $71 US bar bill. I guess someone forgot to document the fact they removed the second re-stocking. (PS they charge $3.00 for a bottle of water) They were very rude and ignorant about it at the reception. We were not the only ones fighting bogus bar bills (I guess this is how they make extra money. or they have a theft problem with staff, since anyone could have entered our room and taken the second set. We definitely did not use it). This incident did leave a sour taste in my mouth. Also note, the bar fridge does not function without the room key inserted (all power in the room shuts off when you leave. If you have meds that need the fridge, make sure you ask for an extra room key, so the fridge will run all day, and then tape it in the slot, so the maid does not remove it like she did the first day to us). The other problem this resort has is it has expanded (with the club and select sections) beyond its beach capacity. We found the beach too crowed with not enough umbrellas or chairs. Shade was hard to find without encroaching on someone else's personal space. Forget getting up at 6 am. All the umbrellas are taken by 3 am on the beach. You might get one by the pool at that time, but by 6:30, they are also taken (PS. Take off your wrist band and go to the resort next door. They have plenty of space). All that being said, we had a great time, and as long as you don't run into any problems like we did, you will have a fabulous holiday. PS. I have been to the Dominican 5 times and to Cuba 5 times and this is the first time I have had any real problems. I guess it was just my turn.”

“I just returned from the Grand Paradise Bavaro and what a great time. The food, the beach, the pool were all excellent. The beach and pool were very clean. The food was very good. If you went away hungry it was your own fault, there was something there for everyone. The Ala Carte restaurants were very good, best being the Italian, and the grill. Was not overly impressed with the Seafood restaurant as we were never asked for drinks, and were never offered tea or coffee. Other than that, we were really impressed by our room, and the service, did not want for anything. Will definitely go back there.”

“My only problem was that we got robbed right in our hotel lobby after returning from an excursion and were upstairs about to book another tour and when my boyfriend went to hand me the money his wallet was gone. We later found it in the men's bathroom downstairs, it was a setup. The manager tells us he will send us a police report to our room, never does, my boyfriend goes non the balcony outraged, and sees 5 security officers, handing each other 100 dollar bills or 100 dollar bills over 800 dollars worth of them. My boyfriend runs after them they pretend not to hear us and know they are caught, bring us to the front, the manager lets them walk away. Then we are told we are accusing officers and we can get fined or go to jail. So give up and go back to your room and that was it. No help. We had to sleep with one eye open every night. I will never ever in a million years go back to that place that was my second time there and my last. There are no cameras, whom to say we were robbed again or hurt right in our room, there was no police report, and therefore no evidence of us in danger. None wants to help you, I will never step foot back anywhere near grand paradise bravado. It was safer driving through the towns then it was in our own hotel.” 31 of 48 people found this review helpful.Amenities at Grand Paradise Bavaro, Punta Cana
