“We initially had an ocean view room. We noticed a foul smell and soon discovered the sink was leaking. An engineer stopped by twice, but said he would not be able to fix it at that time of night. The main hotel was fully booked. It was just a few blocks away from the beach and we had a tiny view of the water. The suite was newly designed, very clean and stylish. We had a much better experience than we had expected!”

• Within walking distance from shopping, dining and beach.
• A little noisy at night, but not too bad.

“Very nice elegant hotel, staff very helpful, and the "turn down service" was a nice surprise when we got to the hotel at night. The room was a little small, but for two it's perfect and romantic.”

• The hotel is historic and has some great original pictures displayed. I loved the history of the hotel and community.
• Truly not enough time to enjoy all that the hotel and la Jolla have to offer. I also wasn't able to dine at their restaurant, nine ten.

“I had the chance to stay at this hotel in January while attending a conference in la Jolla. What a great little hotel! It's located right in the village of la Jolla and just steps from the ocean. There is an abundance of great shops, restaurants, art galleries and museums all within walking distance. Oh, and the beach is right there too. I flew in and out of san Diego airport, which was only a 15 minute drive from the hotel. Even though I had to go to a conference in another hotel and sit most of the day in a ballroom with no windows, it was a great joy to be able to return to the grand colonial at the end of the day. Most of the time I just sat in my room, opened the windows (which have no screens) and just enjoyed the ocean views and ocean air blowing into my room. I'll be back!”
