• Extras such as Happy Hour; friendly staff.
• Train tracks and freeway next to hotel; noisy.

“The staff was extremely friendly and tried to make our stay pleasant. We appreciate extras such as free newspaper and internet access. The continental breakfast was actually a full breakfast in our opinion. It includes hot food such as eggs and sausage, and also bagels, cereal, fresh fruit. The hot tub outside next to the pool was very nice. The only negatives were that the hotel is next to the freeway and train tracks and we heard traffic noise and train whistles in our room. The hotel is a few doors down from a homeless shelter, if that matters to you.”

  bit tired/untrained staff on desk/location odd & freeway behind.

“All I could think was ‘why we are here’ and ‘why wasn't a business hotel available on a Saturday night?’ A restaurant two blocks away, on the beach, that the fool on duty knew nothing about? The only restaurant on the beach in downtown Ventura. We ended up driving (we're old people) doing u-turns and guessing while traffic whizzed around us.”

• The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room I received was very clean and well supplied. I was very happy with my stay.
• It was all good. Just a bit tough to find if you don't have specific directions. The entrance is on a Cul De sac set back, no signs on the main street

“I have stayed at several Country Inns in the past, this one included. I found the staff to be friendly, courteous and accommodating. The room was very clean, with a refrigerator, microwave, sitting area and a spacious bathroom. The bed was very comfortable. I was given some excellent suggestions for dinner and the breakfast the next morning, which was included in the price, was very nice, with a wide variety of items to choose from. If time had allowed, I would gladly have stayed another night or two.”

• Free internet, free breakfast, and spacious rooms.
• Next to Freeway, but not that big of a deal.

“This is a great place to stay. Staff was friendly and all the amenities were free unlike the 3 and 4 star hotels I usually get. In the future I think I would rather stay here then a Hilton or Sheraton that nickel and dimes you for everything including parking.”

• Continental breakfast.
• This hotel needs lots of improvements to be a 2.5 start hotel. Specially with the front desk.

“I would not stay at this hotel again. The hotel smalls funny. The people at the front desk aren't friendly. Once you get there, you think that this is a low start hotel. I got 2 more rooms besides ours, for some family friends, they didn't like it either. I made the reservations so I felt really bad with my friends for the hotel I got them, especially the price was higher than the better ones I usually get.”

“This hotel is in a great location and walking distance to the beach. The complimentary breakfast was great. The room are large and plenty of bathroom space. I will stay at this hotel again.”

• The value and the location and hi-speed internet.
• Rooms are quite old - need upgrade.

• The breakfast was great. It was located near the beach and close to many attractions.

“It was more than what I expected. I just needed a place to sleep. It was a hot breakfast. The hotel was clean. The kids felt like they were at home. They loved the pool and spa. I thought that I would be awakened by the train, but I wasn't. Overall, it was really nice.”

• Good location - by the ocean.
• Next to freeway, very noisy; old hotel.

“This hotel does not look old outside but the inside is. The lobby is dark. The carpet is sticky and the room smells. The bed is comfy, though. Our room is next to freeway and it was very noisy at night especially.”

• Bad odor in lobby, outdated furnishings, mold in shower, ratty towels, freeways noise, poor parking for large vehicles.

“We stay in the Ventura area 3 times a year and we cringe when we see that this is the hotel we will be staying in. It starts off with a bad odor that is in the lobby every time we have walked in. The free breakfast and nice lady that serves it is not enough to make up for the poorly furnished room. The towels are very thin and usually have frayed ends. The only toiletries are a combination shampoo/conditioner. The ceiling in our bathroom was moldy. Rooms on the freeway side are exceptionally loud. The television did not work properly. This is no better than any 2 star hotel we have stayed in.”

• Dingy and dated.

“Hotel wasn't particularly clean - furnishings were old - towels were grayish (instead of Whites) ventilation system was inadequate - overall - it was one of those places where you kept your sandals next to the bed out of fear of waling barefoot in the room. I've used CIS many times - this hotel was surprising, as it didn't match up well vs the chain nationally.”

• The bathrooms were a little out-dated, especially the showers.

“Overall I highly recommend this hotel. It was very convenient to the channel islands harbor as well as an easy walk to dinner in downtown Ventura. The rooms were nice and large, and had a refrigerator. A great traveling experience!”
