Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[7] • Location:[8]

  • Very generous complimentary continental breakfast.
  • Registration desk personnel seemed inept.

“Beautiful older hotel in excellent working condition. Heavy on charm and old fashioned furnishings. Not so quick on the up take for business travelers in a hurry. Staff is nice, but sleepy. Vacation here, but don't use it as a pit stop for business travel.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[10] • Location:[8]

  • Staff and rod's restaurant.
  • Satellite service is poor/wireless service is poor.

“Very friendly staff and the rooms are comfortable. Manager is terrific. Coffee and pastries in the a.m. In the lobby (in front of fireplace) were great. Cell phone service is a problem in areas of the hotel. Bar downstairs and piano musician completed the marvelous ambience.”

“We were staying for two nights. After the first night, we were locked out of our room.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Location, access to NJ transit train.
  • Non smoking room would get remnant of smoke w/air conditioner on.

“This hotel is very accommodating, the location is great, and the staff is very friendly. Rooms and beds are very comfortable and housekeeping staff does an excellent job.”

Cleanliness:[5] • Staff:[1] • Location:[5]

  • I was able to check in early after a red-eye flight.
  • Cold showers they said were fixed but were not.

“There were cold showers when I visited the Madison hotel. I called down to the front desk. They said the hot water would be turned on (why it wasn't to begin with is a mystery). After apparently turning on the hot water, it, in fact, was still cold. I also wanted to check out later (around 3-4 pm). The staff did not allow this until I told them about my very unsatisfactory stay.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • The restaurant was fantastic and the hotel was so close to the train station.
  • Perhaps a little too close because of the train noise.

“If we ever return to the Morristown area of new jersey then we would be sure to stay at the Madison hotel. I would certainly recommend it to anyone.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[8] • Location:[9]

  • Close to train, walking path. Very nice restaurant.
  • There were bugs crawling in the lobby!

“Victorian deco. Lobby furniture shabby, uncomfortable. Nice free continental breakfast in lobby, but no place to sit and eat it due to the bugs and ugly antique furniture. Lovely outdoor courtyards. This place is designed for hosting weddings and does a good job of that.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[1] • Location:[3]

  • The decor was lovely and convenience of traveling was made easy due to location.
  • Certain members of staff were very unhelpful and condescending.

“Although the hotel looks great the staff, beds and train leave something to be desired. I found the beds to be very uncomfortable and always woke up sore as did my mother, although my husband and father had no problems. Certain members of the staff were very abrupt and condescending and the train station right next to the hotel, get a room as far from it as possible unless you want to be woken up early every morning. Apart from this the hotel services were fantastic and the restaurant although pricy, nice. One thing to be aware of though. This hotel does a lot of functions making certain parts of the hotel constantly off limits. I wouldn¿t recommend it too my family. There are far better hotels in the area available at the same price. Good points - it¿s very clean and well kept for a non chain hotel with good food. Bad points - woken up by noisy trains and poor front desk staff.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[7] • Location:[9]

  • It was very clean.
  • The staff was very snotty.

“I really think I paid too much for this room. The staff acted like I was bothering them every time I called down, and the over all atmospheres were snotty and rude. The staff seemed to talk down to me. The only reason I picked this hotel is because it had a shuttle bus to the Morristown hospital. It was the closest one. I would never go back to this hotel again. Highly over priced. Especially for the way I was treated during my stay.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • The Madison was clean and had an old world feel to it, a richness due to the dark woods and antiques. the Parlor Car dining was unique.
  • No wireless Internet in rooms. Must bring your hook-ups.

“Great hotel! I would highly recommend it. Eat in the Parlor Car dining-authentic 1900s rail cars with red velvet you feel like you are traveling across country in style. good food. good fitness center and indoor pool/hot tub. polite staff. clean room.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[8] • Location:[10]

  • Old world charm
  • Week-end breakfasts were just too plain!!!

“There was a lot of activity (several weddings, etc.) and the staff handled the details with efficiency. I was pleased with most everything except the week-end breakfasts. They were very dull.”

  • The lobby area appeals if you like antiques.
  • It is a hard to find a place to set down your breakfast.

“I thought the rooms were spacious and nicely decorated. The staff was courteous and helpful and the location is convenient for going into New York City.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • The hotel is in a great location and has all the things I need in it.
  • I did ask for extra pillows when confirming my room but I had to ask again later for them.

“The hotel is in a great location and easily feels like a retreat tucked away. The courtyards are very pretty and the hotel has a lot to offer.”

“Overall nice hotel. staff friendly. Disappointed with main desk when a request was made for extra pillows and never received them. Pillows were like soft, mushy pancakes. They only leave 1 extra pillow in the rooms. ”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[7] • Location:[8]

  • Great lobby and nice front desk people
  • Technology luddhites. They could not get me hooked up to their cable line. Plus, they wanted $16 per day.

“Great lobby, nice rooms. However, it was not clear what was done in the $24M fix up. It was also not a great choice for a business traveler who needs an internet hookup. The cable line did not work and the help desk had no clue as to the issue. Plus, they wanted like $16 per day, which is outrageous.”
