  • nostalgic with class in a great location for Ft. Lauderdale
  • drive up entrance not obvious; no wifi in my room

“I STAYED IN THE OLDER SECTION...very nostalgic...but also not updated with wifi...and newer TV's...otherwise...place is very nice.”

  • The Executive Tower made me feel like a Princess!
  • Only that the hotel has 2 sections - the older historic rooms and the incredible Executive Tower. The Tower was wonderful!

“This hotel is absolutely amazing! The newer area and it was marvelous! I have and am recommending this hotel and the staff to everyone! I am excited about going back! Hopefully that will be soon. The hotel is beautiful! I felt like a Princess during my stay.”

  • They were so accommodating, we arrived early a.m. and didn't have to wait till noon to check-in.
  • I can't think of one thing.

“This is an old hotel kept in very good condition. We didn't use the pool but did go look at it. Some might consider it inconvenient as it is to the rear across an access road. But that means those who aren't using it don't have to be worried about any noise from over exuberant swimmers if your room happens to be nearby. I actually stayed there about 23 years ago and was delighted that it remained as I remembered.”

  • Great location, very historic location, well maintained, and a unique location.
  • Bathrooms are older given the historic nature of property - small bathtubs.

“ This is a great and unique property with a lot of character, we enjoyed a glass of wine on the sidewalk during a warm evening. Also enjoyed walking along the Riverfront. ”

  • Beautiful, clean, staff very helpful and located in great section of Fort Lauderdale and I will highly recommend it to everyone.

“This hotel was beautiful, clean and located in very good section of Ft Lauderdale Fl. It was close to all kinds of shops and restaurants. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. This hotel sits next to water way and it was beautiful. Hope I get opportunity to go back. I would recommend it to everyone.”

  • Beautiful, old but well maintained hotel in excellent location.
  • The breakfast in the restaurant was average.

“The hotel is located on a quaint street in the heart of Ft. Lauderdale about 2 miles from the beach.”

  • Friendly staff.
  • Room air conditioner/heater was not working properly.

“Central location is excellent. Staff is friendly. Rooms could be better.”

  • Within walking distance of several restaurants and stores and the overall charm of the hotel.
  • They charge $18.02 a day to park in their parking garage.

“The hotel was very nice, a great get away hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. The two bars in the hotel are great for when you come down for dinner or just a night cap. They did not have Internet access in all their rooms so if you did not inquire you had to go to the lobby to get a wireless connection. Not conducive for a business traveler, this is more for vacationers and those romantic get-away. The staff was very friendly, however when I complained about my parking pass not working to get me into their garage a second time I got a attitude from one of the ladies at the front desk, this did not go over well with me and that is why I gave question number 3 a poor rating.”

  • Free wired internet.
  • Decor was a little dated.

“The room was clean and quiet. My room had a free wired internet connection, a big plus. I was staying in a less desirable, non-tower room on the second floor, but it wasn't bad at all. The king size bed was comfortable; the furnishings, while not my style, were in decent shape. Bathroom was small, but adequate. Safety lock had been removed from the door and the electronic safe did not work. Parking was $18/day.”

  • Exceptional decor in public areas--excellent artwork.
  • Room window was glazed over--faced ugly view of machinery.

“Worth the visit simply to see the "Old Florida" oil paintings in the lobby. The decor and art work in public areas surpassed most 5-star hotels. The overall effect was stunning and reflected superior taste and refinement seldom seen in any lodging regardless of "star" rating. The room, on the other hand, was comfortable, clean and spacious but very dark. I stayed in the "older" wing of the hotel.”

  • Clean, friendly staff.
  • Paying 24 dollar per night to park.

“Good, clean hotel but the $24 night parking and there was no place to park. I am worried that families not expecting or having it in their budget will be heartbroken.”

  • Built in 1936, this hotel retains period architecture and has modern amenities & service.
  • No HBO.

“From the moment you pull up to the curb for valet parking, the staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Front desk personnel wore big, friendly smiles. Room was beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. High quality linens and personal amenities. Breakfast & hors d'oeuvres were delicious. Location is great for all the dining and entertainment of Las Olas Blvd. and very convenient to water taxi & bus service. Had a fantastic experience!”

  • Excellent location for shopping and activities.
  • Pool was out of order for my entire stay. Rooms should have been discounted. The hotel is 2 miles from the beach.

“Excellent hotel. When the pool is operational.”

  • The 30's style Florida furnishings and bark cloth fabrics.
  • The pool was closed throughout my entire stay due to a chlorine problem.

“It was a nice experience. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again especially for the price. The room, although small, was comfortable for one person. Never ate at the restaurants. Interesting, but on their website they fail to list two amenities that are really important to me, an in-room safe and coffee maker with complimentary coffee. Nice surprise. It would be nice if there were more of a real food and beverage service poolside. As it is now, you must phone room service to place an order.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[5] • Location:[5]

  • Very busy didn't worry about safety since there are lots of people around.
  • Location-- all the nearby stores are high money stores.

“Arrived at the first room and the air conditioner wasn't on so we turned it on and went to look around at the local stores and such, about 3 hours later we returned and the air still hadn't come on. The hotel staff was friendly and understandable, moved us to a different room. We had no other problems that stay. We came back a few days later for another stay and ran into problems after problems with the staff and some attitude that they showed. Very surprised due the great service we received just 3 days earlier. Do not recommend due to staff and the money paid for the rooms with nothing extra about them. The location was okay if you have lots of money to spend.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Great location on Los Olas Blvd. Free Internet & Business Center. Nicely appointed rooms.
  • Didn't like paying for parking. parking and swimming pool are across the street from the hotel.

“This hotel was a wonderful discovery and I definitely would go back again! The location was great because it was in the heart of the Los Olas Blvd. restaurant and shopping scene, yet the rooms were quiet and restful. The staff was friendly and helpful and the rooms were comfortable. The only things I didn't like were that the pool was across the street and you had to pay for self parking.”
