• I liked that it was on the beach.
• The arms of the chairs were wobbly/broken, needed bowls, glasses and more utensils.

• My room was huge, bed was comfortable, clean.
• The front desk staff was rude.

“Overall, I enjoyed my stay. 1st day I was able to see dolphins playing in the surf from my balcony. There is a $100 hold on your credit card that no one wanted to talk about when I made calls to confirm reservations. I wasn't told of the deposit until I checked in, even though I asked. When I checked out, the staff kept calling me by the wrong name and seemed annoyed that I corrected them and double checked to make sure I was checked out of the correct room. I liked the hotel, I'd stay again, since there was little interaction with the rude staff. The maids were very friendly.”

• Family friendly with many kid oriented activities. Also, my family had a partial ocean view room that was actually spectacular.
• Some of the pools did not seem clean, the water was cloudy in the lazy river and debris was floating in a pool.

• It had a lot of swimming pools and the water was heated!

• Comfortable beds-nice view from the balcony.
• Dirty pools-could not find a seat around pool area. People save them all day while they are at the beach.

“Some of the pools were really dirty, especially the indoor lazy river. It was filthy! The room was ok, the carpets had a dirty feel to them (don't walk bare feet) and the couch and chair were very stained and dirty looking. The beds were comfortable-that was the best thing about that place. They set up umbrellas and chairs along the water line very close together-almost touching and they charge you $30 a day to rent them. The thing is though, they won't let you set your umbrella up in front of them-so unless you're willing to pay an additional $30 a day you have to look through umbrellas and chairs to see the ocean. They are set so close together you literally have to turn sideways to get through them. Also, unless you get down to the pool by 8 am you do not get a chair. People save chairs all day long while they're at the beach. I went with small children and it was impossible to find a chair near the baby pool-every chair has a towel on it, but the pool would be nearly empty. They have signs everywhere saying not to save chairs, but the rule is not enforced.”

• Lots of pools, and very easy access to the beach. Loved the balcony.
• At the time of my stay it was being renovated so it was a little smelly.

“From check in to check out everything was quick and easy. There was plenty of good parking, the staff was quick to respond and everything worked.”

• I like the set-up of the room.
• The front desk supervisor was not friendly at all.

“Upon check-in, I realized that I was getting something different in the room than I had originally planned for. The front desk supervisor was very rude and very nonchalant about my needs. I have stayed at this hotel for several years in a row and I have never encountered someone so rude and inconsiderate. Other than that, the hotel is great. It is a wonderful location and the pools are heated even in the wintertime.”

• Great facility, close to everything you want, clean and friendly people.
• Received wrong directions from staff, twice.

“This was our second stay at Compass Cove and we will go back. There is no reason for us to even consider any other resort in Myrtle Beach. Great breakfast food, friendly staff, spotless rooms, 22 pools and right on the beach. Our only complaint was that the front desk staff gave us wrong directions both times we asked. Oh well, next time we'll bring our own map. Still going back!”

• Not smoking room had smell of smoke.

“Hotel had parking in a multi tiered lot that was just outside of room. Room was very clean and hotel had many pools both indoor and out. For the price we paid hotel offered very good value.”

The parking has always been a issue, but Compass Cove has always been my first choice for many years. Not only for the quality, but for sentimental reasons also. The situation with the ice and new non-smoking policy caused this to be my last time staying there.”

• Convenient to Ocean, Excellent breakfast buffet.
• No movies to rent on TV system.

“Enjoyed our stay. Room was adequate but not great. Bedroom living room seemed backwards. Public corridors seemed worn. Parking was a pain with a full sized truck. Had fun on the beach. Pools looked fun but we didn't have time for them. Enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Excellent quality (fresh) at a ten dollar price per plate.”
