“We were in Hershey for a family event and were shocked at the room rates at this hotel. We consoled ourselves with the thought that it must be a premier property. Not so! We were very disappointed. Temperatures were in the high 90's the day we arrived and the a/c in the lobby couldn't keep up - the reception area was jammed with travelers and felt like a sauna. Help with car and bags was slow in coming and not particularly friendly. There was likewise NO a/c in the tiny elevators. Our room, though nicely decorated, was dark, small and dated, and upon close inspection, not particularly clean - we noticed dust buildup on the wood trim, flaking paint, and a generally shabby appearance. The bathroom was cramped by 21st century standards, and the hand-held shower wouldn't stay fixed in place, so the shower spray hit the far corner of the tub, and not much else. By far the biggest joke at this so-called "resort" is the outdoor pool - a concrete oval surrounded by dried and dead grass, with a dirt path - scuffed bare by foot traffic! - leading to it. Listless guests lounged on cheap chaises without a tree, shrub or potted arrangement in sight. Adjacent to the pool is a "snack bar" offering ice cream - it's a sad-looking wooden hut with a few dirty tables and a poor layout. The day we visited the lights and a/c were off and the flies buzzing around only added to the overall air of neglect. This hotel must benefit from its isolated location - it could not compete with true luxury properties in a more metropolitan location. We've stayed at better hotels at a fraction of the price. Skip it!”

  • Friendly, detail oriented staff. Clean. Luxurious.
  • Confusing layout. Too many conventions, reunions, and wedding events going on.

“I just wanted to write about my experiences at the Hotel Hershey because if there are other people in the world like me, then they take reviews seriously when it comes to deciding on travel arrangements. In a nutshell, Hotel Hershey is great, although it is on the pricey side. We paid around the $360/night mark, but there is a 10% AAA discount. This is really one of those places that you get what you pay for. When you first arrive at the Hotel, bellhops take your luggage and valet parks your car. This is all a free service at this hotel, but tips are usually expected at a place like this. I always kept some $1 bills on me at all times just for this reason. Guaranteed check in was not until 4 pm, but my wife and I arrived about 4 hours early and they already had our room available. Because we were on our honeymoon (and I informed them of this a few weeks prior to our trip) they upgraded us to a junior suite! Our room had a very comfortable king sized bed, a comfortable couch, two chairs, and a coffee table. It also had a desk and chair by the front door. The rooms include a free safe to store your valuables, and two Hotel Hershey robes. The bathrooms are very nice, with marble tile work from floor to ceiling! Because the hotel is older though, the rooms are not as soundproof as some of your newer hotels that you would find say on the Vegas Strip. The hotel is very quiet at night, but during the day you can sometimes hear the maid service and kids in the hallway. But it's not bad at all. Now a few hours after we arrived, the hotel sent us free chocolate covered strawberries on a silver tray with a handwritten note from the hotel manager congratulating us on our honeymoon! It was a very nice touch! The staff always seems to remember who you are, where you're from, and what your intentions are for the day as well. They treat everyone like royalty! I also highly recommend the Sunday brunch. You need to make reservations.”
