• Sheets didn't get changed, room had no opening windows or doors to the outside, pool chemicals strange.

“Overall, a nice place to stay. Only complaints: Our sheets didn't get changed at all during the 5 night stay. The pool chemicals were really strong and turned by bathing suit a different color and tarnished a silver ring I was wearing. I liked the free internet computers, the laundry room I made use of, the kids loved the pool and our room was huge. They did service our room every day.”

• The room was nice, liked the little sleep gift left, fitness room and pools.
• Location of the room was near the elevator and the air conditioner was noisy.

“We enjoyed our stay at the Crowne Plaza. We found the staff accommodating at check in. The room was clean with pleasant little surprises such as the sleep sound gift package. We utilized the fitness center, finding it well appointed and enjoyed a soak in the indoor Jacuzzi before bed.”

“Fort Magruder Crowne Plaza is large and well-run. Rooms are spacious, and walls are thick enough that noise from adjoining rooms is incidental. We would stay there again.”

• The bathrooms were very small and dark.

“This hotel is very close to all attractions in Williamsburg and easy to get to from the highway. The rooms were nicely decorated and the staff pleasant.”

• The location of the hotel was pretty good. Only a short drive to downtown Williamsburg.
• The hotel room was not very clean, had a stranger odor and the bathroom was too small.

“The location of the hotel was pretty good. It was only about a 5 minute drive to downtown Williamsburg. You could walk it if you were pretty fit, but it would probably take a good 20 minutes or longer. We were just too lazy, so we drove. The area seemed safe and was easily accessible. The hotel room was not very clean, had a strange odor and the bathroom was too small. I barely had enough room to get changed in the bathroom and kept hitting my elbow on the wall. Our pillows smelled like sweat and looked as though they had dried stuff on them. Eww! We called to get them replaced and they apologized. The hallway noise was pretty bad and the walls seemed very thin. We had a family with children staying next door and they would wake us up very early playing around. The housekeeping staff in the hallways was too loud, but I think it was just that the walls and door were too thin. On a positive note, the outdoor area behind the hotel that surrounded the pool was very nice and peaceful with lots of trees. We also had a balcony which overlooked this area. We had a nice view of the trees and pool. The folks in the pool got to be rather loud, which was to be expected, but it closed before bed time, so it was not a problem. We did so much exploring that we did not spend much time at the hotel, so it was not a big issue for us. I think the hotel is overdue for renovations, but not bad if you are on a budget.”

“Good hotel, but it is not great. It should be a 2.5 or 3 star. It is definitely not a luxury 4 star hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff.”

• The landscaping is well kept and improves the appearance of this slightly older facility.
• It is a little run down, but has good staff.

• A lot of bang for the buck!
• Going through some remodeling pains.

“We were very happy with our room at this hotel. The hotel is conveniently located between colonial Williamsburg and modern Williamsburg. Only a 2 mile drive to Busch Gardens. The amenities were good. The bed was firm and comfortable. The TV was in a nice armoire. The room also had a small fridge that was in a similar looking piece of furniture to disguise it. The bathroom was very clean and included a blow dryer. Overall a very nice room.”

• The staff was friendly and cooperative.
• Poor condition of the room air conditioner leaked- smelled bad, ants.

“We wanted adjoining rooms but originally were given rooms 10 apart - finally got changed to rooms that were diagonally across from each other. First room smelled musty, after unpacking we realized the air conditioner had made the floor soaking wet. We had our room changed to right across from the other room. After my parents unpacked their room they found numerous small ants by the windows. Besides that, the staff was friendly and tried their best to accommodate all of us. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel.”

“We were given a smoking room. The smell was overwhelming despite going out and buying air fresheners to rid the room of the smell. The hotel lacked adequate parking for the number of rooms & the events taking place in the banquet rooms. The room size was large & the bedding was nice. We had no control over the temperature in the room (controlled by the hotel).”

• Very clean rooms and the beds were very comfortable.
• Amtrak passing in the middle of the night but not terribly annoying.

“The hotel was very pleasant. Had a problem with kids playing games on the computers without supervision in the business center. It is located in the lobby with no privacy. Rooms were clean and roomy with a balcony. Welcome bag on arrival with a relaxing CD, room spray, sleeping mask and etc was a nice touch. We extended stay by 2 days.”

“The ground and the lobby of the hotel were well designed and spacious. The front desk service was sufficient. We had good expectation when we entered the lobby. However, we were greatly disappointed when we entered the room. I called prior to my arrival and specified for a non-smoking room. We entered the corridor and knew the room was a smoking one. The smell was overwhelming in the assigned room. My 16 yr old sister almost had an asthma attack and had to leave the room immediately. When I called the front desk, the hotel personnel hesitated in our room change. She claims the hotel will be fully booked for the weekend and there were no more double room. I told her we would take a single room if necessary. We didn't get a room until I told her that my sister is asthmatic. The new room assigned was a 1 king bedroom suite. The room was spacious but very worn out. The ceiling over the tub was crack with a piece missing. Not a typical 3-star hotel room. My sister even said she would prefer a room in Motel 6 than the room we had. The indoor pool was a nice size with a Jacuzzi. The opening hour was 6 am to 11 pm which was great. We didn't use the outdoor pool due the weather but it looked very nice from outside. This hotel is 3-star for lobby/ground and 2-2.5 star for the room.”

• Parking, not enough parking by the entrances.

“The hotel was more than I expected. The grounds were well kept and the staff was very polite. It was located close to all local attractions kind of in the middle. The rooms were very spacious, the bathroom toilet shower area though a little cramped. Over all a very nice place for the price.”
