Taste a little history without spending a fortune! Nestled in the ancient oaks of Esplanade Avenue, our 1840's townhouse makes the perfect spot to begin and end your days of French Quarter discovery. "Somehow, a shiny new hotel doesn't seem quite right for New Orleans. More appropriate is slightly faded, somewhat threadbare elegance, and the LaMothe House fits the bill. The Creole style plain facade of the 1840's townhouse hides the atmosphere you are looking for - a mossy, stone-lined courtyard with a fish-filled fountain, banana trees and rooms filled with antiques that are worn in all the right places, but not shabby. A continental breakfast is served on the second floor dining room that screams faded gentility. (As the staff points out, it's not Victorian style, it is Victorian.) It's a short walk to the action in the Quarter and just a couple of blocks to the bustling Frenchman scene. Location.
Pretty much everything else.

“This place is so not worth it. The staff was rude and uninterested. The room was dirty and did not pick up the WiFi signal even though they advertise free WiFi. The parking was not free even though under amenities it says free. Not so. The pool was fine even though they don't clean it everyday. I still used it. I would not recommend staying at this hotel when there are so many other, nicer hotels in the same price range and location as this one. It's a very decent location.”

Hot tub is awesome.
Staff was a bit rude.

“Cheap, clean a pool/Jacuzzi, and it one block away from the quarter. the staff was/is a bit rude, but we didn't see them enough for it to matter.”

The staff was friendly and helpful with maps, and things to do. They were very willing to make reservations for us.
It is old. They were in the process of redoing the main house when we were there. It is quaint. If its fancy you want don't go here.

“We had an outside room that was newly remodeled. It was very nice with antique furniture. Not expensive pieces but quaint. The main house where the office and dining room were, needed work but they were in the process of redoing the stairs while we were there. It is old but I enjoyed it. My husband was a little scepitcal when we arrived but adjusted quickly. It is not fancy to say the least. If you are going to New Orleans and plan on spending most of your time out in the city, this is a good place. It is just a few blocks from Bourbon St. right on the edge of the French Quarter. At night after a long day of walking their hot tub was great. ”
