  • The location was fantastic.
  • Room was small.

“The hotel was beautiful, everything you expect from a Fairmont hotel. We found the room a bit small for entertaining. There was only one chair and guests had to sit on the bed (awkward & uncomfortable for 3 people). Bathroom was also small, no place to put toiletries. First bathroom I've been in where they had no room to put the Kleenex (it was in the bedroom on the night table). All in all, very clean and comfortable - just small.”

  • Comforter on bed, would prefer fresh duvet cover.

“An old, updated hotel with excellent location. Still has some smoking rooms, one of which was initially assigned to me. This would have made the entire experience unacceptable, if they had not been able to change the room.”

  • A/C either wasn't yet on, or not working properly. Very warm!

  • Very clean room with everything you need.
  • $14.75 is a tad steep for internet access.

“Very nice hotel but I was surprised they had a fee for internet access. Most hotels do not charge for that service any longer.”

  • Outdated.

“This hotel is ill equipped for today's traveler. They cannot run air conditioning at the same time of year they have heat, so room temperatures were around 80 degrees; Rooms 28-32 on each level smell like fried food from the kitchen's hood system; the hotel moved me to another room, but I'm sure others experienced the same problem. I will not stay at this property again unless major renovations are done.”

  • Very convenient - exceptional hotel.
  • In room dining could arrive faster (took 60 minutes).

“This is a great old style hotel with tremendous charm. Have stayed here several times. Staff has always been attentive and excellent. Very convenient to most of Boston on Copley Square. Westin and Marriott are both close but do not have the charm of the Fairmont.”

  • Elegant, great location.
  • Non-smokers beware. We checked in, was told the only room left was a smoking room.

“When we checked in, they told us they were sold out and only a smoking room was available. We are non-smokers and were told we could cancel our reservation (at 8pm), try to find another hotel, or deal with the smoke smell in the room.”

  • This hotel is in a great location.
  • The beds are not very comfortable.

“The hotel has been updated but it still holds an antique charm. It is centrally located. There was a mouse trap in open view beside the TV. The bed was not heavenly and quite hard to sleep on.”

  • It was beautiful, convenient to the college we were visiting, and beds were extremely comfortable.
  • That they charged us twice as much as our reservation because we had a child and we needed to get a room with two beds.

“This was a first class hotel. The lobby is exquisite and the room we stayed in was grand. The marble bath was lovely and the views from the windows were fantastic.”

  • $42 / day for parking, which was not noted in my booking.

“Great location, nice hotel, great service, however the electricity went out when I dried my hair and parking was $42 / night, more than NYC valet parking and not told to me prior to parking.”

  • Unbelievable staff, absolutely stunning hotel, amazing price.
  • Room was on the smaller side.

“The Fairmount was not only mind-gaspingly gorgeous (I heard it was recently renovated), but the staff was by far the best staff of any hotel I've ever stayed at. I'm a writer, and while I'm a successful one I'm not exactly "rolling in it". I didn't expect the concierge and front desk individuals to be as wonderfully gracious as they were. They even delivered a FedEx package to my room as soon as it arrived. I think I rang the concierge six or seven times, and he was just lovely and quite insightful. I wouldn't ever want to stay anywhere else in Boston.”

  • Cleanliness of room was lacking and several items needed repair.

“Classic Boston hotel with impressive lobby, and attentive staff. While they claim to have done a recent renovation, my room had a broken (and dirty) phone; some used toiletries, dirty sink, and several other minor items of neglect. Satisfactory, but not 4 star.”

  • Beautiful historic hotel but 100% updated.
  • Our room was tiny. The TV was on the side of the bed and no couch/chair.

“Hotel is spectacular but our room was tiny. No place to sit other than the bed. The TV was on the right side so you couldn't even sit in bed and watch TV.”
