“The hotel is under reconstruction. There is nothing charming in any public space. normal public space is closed off. When reconstruction is complete it will no doubt be better.”

  • The location, the comfort of the room and bed.
  • The room was rather small, but it is an old hotel.

“Hotel St. Francis is in a great location for visiting Santa Fe, NM. It is in walking distance of the Plaza, shops and eateries. I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, although the room was small it was very comfortable and met my needs. The location is great.”

  • Fantastic location. In the heart of Santa Fe.
  • The room was too small.

“Overall a comfortable stay at a reasonable price, but the room was extremely small. It was also difficult to find the hotel parking. The location couldn't be better. Close to shops and restaurants in the heart of Santa Fe.”

  • They moved us from 2 doubles to a king with a smile.
  • Had to pay for parking.

“The people were very friendly and responded promptly. The bed very comfortable, and the overall appearance very high end.”

  • Location.
  • The wooden bench in the room was old world but uncomfortable.

“The location of this historic, charming hotel was excellent and met our expectations.”

  • The location (near The Plaza) is excellent.
  • This hotel is a little run-down; rooms are very small.

“This is a historic old hotel which they have tried to update to a continental look. It isn't the adobe look you'd expect in Santa Fe, and it was a bit seedy, not very clean, and slightly run-down. The room we had was very small and crowded, but the location made up for it. Our plumbing didn't work very well, but it was adequate. We ate breakfast there one morning; the food was very good and the waitress was excellent. She made a real effort to help us to eat and leave on time to catch a plane. Recommend for location!”

  • Location.
  • Unfriendly staff, unwilling to help with problems.

“Room size was that of a closet with 1 double bed. Discovered that shower and TV did not work. Shower was fixed. TV never was. Front desk staff was rude and unfriendly. Location was great but would never stay here again!”

  • Location.
  • Tiny rooms, hotel needs updating, poor bathrooms.

“One expects small rooms in an historic hotel, but these were very uncomfortable for the price. It was renovated in the 80's and it looks a little sad and worn now. The fake flowers are dusty and horrible. The renovation was supposed to be period specific, but it is really tacky 80's country that looks very dated. The rooms are cluttered and apparently difficult to clean.”

  • Room was cramped, not enough shelf space.

“A grand old hotel with excellent location. Our room was small and lacked shelf space.”

  • How old the building was.
  • Rooms were extremely small. Only full size bed in room and no free breakfast with stay.

“Full size bed was extremely small and no free breakfast with stay. Limited parking unless you park across the street at the municipal parking and then you still have to pay half the cost of the regular rates which they did not inform us about when we checked in. Romantic setting but not comfortable at all.”

  • Perfect location great ambiance beautiful hotel great bar excellent housekeeping staff.
  • No water in the shower! And front desk could care less that we couldn't bath before checkout!

“I really want to love this hotel but there are just too many issues that they refuse to fix that made our stay miserable. The last time I stayed here it was very cold outside and there was no hot water in our room. When I complained the front desk just shrugged and said "it's an old hotel and it has issues". When we told the front desk they said they would tell maintenance and thats it! No apology and they just shrugged when I said I wasn't happy about not being able to shower.”

  • It was in the right location surrounded by history.
  • The room was too small, but we managed.

“I recommend this hotel to anyone that likes to be surrounded by history of the hotel and the Plaza area of Santa Fe.”

  • The service was outstanding.
  • The room was small.

“Everyone at the hotel was very nice and service oriented. The hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to everything. The room was very small, but the level of service and proximity to everything made up for the size of the room.”

  • Historic hotel with a great location.
  • Organization and service was less than expected.

“The hotel was changing ownership during our stay. It would be unfair to the new owners to be too critical at this time. Otherwise, other than location and its historic presence I would not say great things about the hotel.”

“It was very nice, but they did not have our reservation in the system when we checked in.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[6] • Location:[10]

  • Great location in Santa Fe.
  • Not very attentive young staff at the front desk.

“The hotel is in a great location, near The Plaza. The housekeeping staff were good and thorough while the front desk staff were young and only seemed to care about chatting with each other. Details on parking, at the hotel and the overflow public parking lot across the street, were muddled through as if the average person would understand what they were talking about, but it certainly wasn't clear and I had to get a more detailed description. Didn't eat at the hotel but the prices in the room service book seemed reasonable for Santa Fe. The concierge was helpful in determining what time I should leave for the airport to go back home. I recommend stopping at a store before getting to your hotel room to pick up drinks to put in your room's mini fridge because the climate is quite dry and you need to concentrate on hydrating.”

  • Great decor and the tea service were very nice.
  • There was a noise in the A/C vent which was very annoying and kept us up at night. Engineer came and said it was fixed, but it wasn't resolved.

“The St. Francis is very convenient and in walking distance to the old town plaza and main attractions in Santa Fe. The rooms are a bit on the small side, and we had problems with a noisy air vent, but the decor is attractive, the service was good and the afternoon tea is worth a try.”

Cleanliness:[10] • Staff:[8] • Location:[10]

  • The location is wonderful for seeing the sights in old Santa Fe. It is old and quite elegant. The service staff (housekeepers, etc.) is awesome.
  • Our room did not accommodated 2 people comfortably.

“The double bed was comfortable and I believe it was a down comforter, which was nice. Parking was available, but the lot was always full so we had to park across the street in municipal parking. So we always had to stop at the desk and ask for parking validation, each time we wanted to leave by car. I was aware the rooms were small and had contacted the hotel a few weeks before our arrival and asked if we could have a bigger room. I don't think I'll ever stay there again.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[10]

  • Location, friendly staff, historic value.
  • Hot water control for shower needed tweaking.

“Wonderful location, and on the national list of historic places. This hotel was built in 1923 with a very non-southwest decor and feel, as a counter to the surrounding area. The rooms can be somewhat smallish, and oddly shaped, but that adds to the charm. A small bar is off the lobby and it gets some decent traffic at night. High quality tea is served in the afternoon with finger sandwiches and all that. Nice place, would go back again.”
