“The hotel was changing ownership during our stay. It would be unfair to the new owners to be too critical at this time. Otherwise, other than location and its historic presence I would not say great things about the hotel.”

“It was very nice, but they did not have our reservation in the system when we checked in.”

“The hotel is in a great location, near The Plaza. The housekeeping staff were good and thorough while the front desk staff were young and only seemed to care about chatting with each other. Details on parking, at the hotel and the overflow public parking lot across the street, were muddled through as if the average person would understand what they were talking about, but it certainly wasn't clear and I had to get a more detailed description. Didn't eat at the hotel but the prices in the room service book seemed reasonable for Santa Fe. The concierge was helpful in determining what time I should leave for the airport to go back home. I recommend stopping at a store before getting to your hotel room to pick up drinks to put in your room's mini fridge because the climate is quite dry and you need to concentrate on hydrating.”

“The St. Francis is very convenient and in walking distance to the old town plaza and main attractions in Santa Fe. The rooms are a bit on the small side, and we had problems with a noisy air vent, but the decor is attractive, the service was good and the afternoon tea is worth a try.”

“The double bed was comfortable and I believe it was a down comforter, which was nice. Parking was available, but the lot was always full so we had to park across the street in municipal parking. So we always had to stop at the desk and ask for parking validation, each time we wanted to leave by car. I was aware the rooms were small and had contacted the hotel a few weeks before our arrival and asked if we could have a bigger room. I don't think I'll ever stay there again.”

“Wonderful location, and on the national list of historic places. This hotel was built in 1923 with a very non-southwest decor and feel, as a counter to the surrounding area. The rooms can be somewhat smallish, and oddly shaped, but that adds to the charm. A small bar is off the lobby and it gets some decent traffic at night. High quality tea is served in the afternoon with finger sandwiches and all that. Nice place, would go back again.”

“We loved our stay. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The lobby is welcoming with many sitting areas, fireplace and afternoon tea. A beautiful patio runs along the front of the hotel with sitting areas as well. Parking is only $5 per day which is much less than other hotels and free morning papers. This hotel reminds me of many European hotels.”

“Quaint and charming, in the heart of Downtown Santa Fe, the Hotel St. Francis retains its turn of the century feel. A pleasurable stay.”

“The St. Francis was a pleasurable experience. You will need to book the room way ahead of time. The front desk staff was a great representation of hospitality. I will return to this hotel next time I return to Santa Fe.”

“We were happy with the hotel. We had 4 people (2 adults and 2 children) in our room and they charged us and additional $20, so we could have 2 beds - 2 double beds - in our room.”

“The Hotel had lots of charm as an old hotel. No upgrades done and room was small and crowded. One uncomfortable chair. Upgrade to a Queen size bed room from a full size bed was $25/night. Shower water temperature at night was Luke warm and had to run for 5-10 minutes to get hot. Room temp control was difficult.”

“This hotel is not your typical corporate hotel. Each room has a unique theme, golf, old dolls, mardi grass, etc. and the decor is almost Victorian in nature. It is the most quiet older hotel in which I have stayed especially for being right in the middle of downtown. A great value.”

“This is a wonderful looking old hotel in the heart of historic Santa Fe. Staff was pleasant but not overly friendly. Parking could be a pain if you did not get in the hotel lot you were forced to go across the street and then wait at front desk for validation. My only problems with this hotel were the tiny room (too small to eat in, no table) and the shower temperature fluctuations with every toilet flush or tap turning in the hotel. Breakfast was great.”

“This was a great hotel for the end of our trip out west. The hotel felt very rugged yet art deco. It was historic with all the original details. Very charming and I felt at home since I live in a very historic home myself.”

“Needs larger rooms for 2 people and at least a queen size bed. Bed was comfortable, clean room and nice old time charm, staff very helpful. Food ordered in pub did not coincide with what was on menu. Husband ordered menu item and received only one out of three described on menu. When asked about it, they tried to fix it, but still didn't get it right. We were told that staff was trying to "get away with it". Very disappointing, especially for the price.”

“At the right price, the St. Francis is perfectly located to enjoy the heart of Santa Fe. Lovely public spaces, attentive staff. Be prepared for a small room if you take the Standard room. Still very comfortable, but not a place to spend a lot of time.”

“First night the room was the smallest one I had ever stayed in. Second night upgraded to king deluxe, 100% improvement. Cost 20.00 extra. Might stay here again, excellent location, but would definitely upgrade.”
